Wouldn't want anyone to think I was friendly.....

Hi! Okay so, I have a 14yr old spry black cat named Pasta Queen, and while she is terrific I have decided to open my home to two very young kittens, males, brothers.

I know to have a shallow aluminum litter tray away from Pasta's large covered litter box. And to keep their food apart from hers. Do we still use dry kitten food? Do they get wet food? Do I need to handle them often, give them beds? Can I leave them alone with my old lady?

Am I being silly to adopt two males?

Please be blunt with me.

The kitten ownership isn't set in stone yet.

In no particular order: Dry kitten food is fine. Wet kitten food is fine. Don't feed adult cat food, go for all life stages or kitten specific. Handle them lots but give them space to chill as well, they may use a bed but will also probably decide your bed is their bed. Try to do a gradual introduction with your old lady cat so she doesn't get lovely and they don't overwhelm her with kitten energy. Two males are fine, just make sure you neuter them. I personally find dude cats more cuddly than lady cats.

100% agreed. Also, get ready for lots of cat scratches again. It takes a few months to learn how to use their claws without damaging you. It will go faster because you're getting 2 of them. When they play, every once in a while you'll hear one of them make the pain squeak. This is how they tell each other to be more gentle. Try to emulate the sound when they hurt you. Eventually they'll figure out how to use claws gently.
