So, I found this dude crawling around my excavation out on the Eastern tip of Long Island, very much near a marsh. It's not the garter or hognose snakes I found as a kid so I'm curious if anyone can help me ID it. I picked it up and moved it to a nice sunny location on the back part of the property out of harm's way. Here's a pic of the dude:

Looks like an eastern milk snake to me. They're super common and great as rodent control.

Weird, the only ones I ever saw were really red in coloration, but GIS for Eastern Milk Snake looks dead on.
