I like to imagine Efi and Marvin met on evac and use their brigador money so Efi can dress up like a mech and Martin can dress up like a rail gun and they mount hardware all night long.

SpaceClown posted:Is it canon that a carlos to the rear of a broodmare will disable it? Are spacer vehicles really that flimsy? Wouldn't be surprised to be honest. It would fit in with a few other established things about spacers - for them, weight is at a premium. Their weapons tend to be energy weapons or fire caseless rounds because conventional ammunition is heavy. Their vehicles are more lightly armored than equivalent vehicles from terrestrial militaries and they prefer to rely on energy shields as the main means of protection for their vehicles. And in real life, armored vehicles almost universally are less well armored on top and in the rear because equal protection of all facings is simply too heavy. So a vehicle like a Broodmare probably has a tremendous weight cost by spacer standards and needs to economize as much as humanly possible. Also even if the present day Carl Gustav is still in service in the grim darkness of the far future, it's possible that it's firing entirely different and much more effective shells than present day weapons.

SpaceClown posted:Is it canon that a carlos to the rear of a broodmare will disable it? Are spacer vehicles really that flimsy? I rate the Carlos as well worth taking even compared to it's Turret/AUX peers for a reason. Direct hits with the Carlos are just that good against hull, a Carlos to the back will take out 95% of a Rat King or Julius hull, and 90% of a Treehouse's hull. For reference, the Spacer Ultra tanks have the same 250/300 health as a Julius/Treehouse. While the Spacer big boy mechs like the broodmare only have 100 hull. You need to be getting into the beefy top shelf Loyalist hardware to shrug off a Carlos round up the rear end. Carlos is great... When you're landing hits on hull with it. Not being quite as hot Vs shields up, and it's lack of splash is something you will definitely feel when things get crazy though. It's also just one more reason I'm disappointed in the Bonesaw I'd never think "You know, the M2 turret is nice and all. But I'd be just as comfortable bringing the Bonesaw instead!" If the Bonesaw had an extra multiplier vs rear armor on something I'd probably take it consistently, I like it but it just feels completely ineffective against anything midsized or bigger and I find myself saying "I could've put a Carlos or a Faker in this slot" far too often.

you take the bonesaw in conjunction with a carlos so you can keep enemy shields from starting up while you wait for your 84mm to reload and your emp hasn't recharged.

So I just shoot things with my banshee until they die but have absolutely no concept about how shields or armour facing or weapon types work in the game. Most enemies go down very fast but sometimes they do not go down fast at all and eat up a ton of ammo. Sometimes it's the exact same type of enemy too. I understand if a shameful alarm is triggered all the enemies get a bit tougher, but I've also noticed sometimes enemies seem to have extra shields on their own even without an alarm. How's it all work?

# ? Jun 30, 2017 19:20 |

If you've woken them up but not killed them their shields will charge, large explosions can wake things up from a long way away
|
# ? Jun 30, 2017 19:29 |

Actually they only charge their shields when they make eye contact with your or you shoot them. You can utilize distractions to move them out of cover without worrying about them charging their shields... so long as you get out of dodge and flank around for the booty shot.

SpaceClown posted:you take the bonesaw in conjunction with a carlos so you can keep enemy shields from starting up while you wait for your 84mm to reload and your emp hasn't recharged. The Pinch is better for that at range, and the Lockdown is better for that at close range. Captain Foo posted:If you've woken them up but not killed them their shields will charge, large explosions can wake things up from a long way away An enemy needs to take damage from your hull or projectiles, make visual contact with you, or have the alarm sound to raise their shields. If an enemy hears a cannon shot they'll roll over to investigate but they won't raise their shields. If you're playing* "ring around the Canmore" while shooting its teammates it won't raise its shields. If an enemy is in dense smoke and gets shot in the back by their teammates they won't raise their shields. If you're hiding behind the still smoking wreckage of a Treehouse and a dozen Corvids start converging on the idling electric motor of your Varlet, they won't raise their shields. *This is a terrible idea because Canmores are literally the second highest priority Loyalist in the game, and if there's two or more of the top seven most deadly Loyalists in one place you need to disengage and reset the fight.

Bonesaw is indeed excellent at keeping shields down while you wait for heavy-hitters to recharge and refire. Also very effective at landing the killing blows while your heavy hitter recharges, saving you from overkill.

banshee is good, but if I'm grabbing a main machine gun, I'd rather have the specialized duchess and supplement it with a disco or something. that extra hull damage is juicy when you catch ultra classes off-guard.
