the Brigador book is actually pretty alright, and of far higher quality than i expected from a videogame novel

that said, although the "Then [bad thing X] happened." rhetorical device seems to keep happening, it's nice to see a Donkey get some use

That corvid tank that has heavy/main hard points is a scavenged Touro on a tracked truck

How would mech-tanks work? They sound like they'd be a normal mech with a charge instead of a pound - mechs take damage based on torso facing (mouse controlled) and tanks take damage based on track facing (wasd)

Inexplicable Humblebrag

so is it me or do spacers form massive terrifying deathblobs far, far more than the corvids do

like, to an unfair degree

is it just that their weapons are somehow noisier, despite the corvids being all about WELL WE LOADED THIS BIN FULL OF PLASTIC EXPLOSIVES?

ya i always go "oh gently caress, spacers" when all the captains are grouped together in their giant killer supermechs

i get that they drop down together rather than infesting a sector from the get-go, but maybe they could go out patrolling from a big clumped starting point, rather than simply sitting there ready to kill me, with their extremely large guns

Inexplicable Humblebrag

ok now that i've unlocked some of the higher difficulty pilots i genuinely have no idea how to deal with spacer deathblobs in freelance. like, in the campaign mode even the really horrible levels (where you eg take your mongoose against broodmares) have them spaced out, but freelance spacers are just a million huge mechs standing in a field

i am aware that it may be a little silly to complain that the higher difficulties are hard, but the inconsistency is just bizarre. high level corvids are great fun; high spacers are "welp i'm out"

what? ultra-class vehicles are very much available in freelance, they're the cheapest ones around

you also get to drive a treehouse in the campaign

do you mean the insane Spacer superheavy tank-fortress thing?

well not a very secret one. i think the lore entry for the corvids he's all "i've been to all the meetings. christ, there's so many meetings"

i like CC being wrong though. he's got the typical spacer superiority complex over groundpounders and is completely blind to his own weak spots

just tried taking the touro out for a spin with the Bully laser. this thing is loving incredibly against an unshielded enemy! and it's loving useless against anyone with a shield!

finally, something to up the challenge of Spacers while making those pesky Corvids easier...

what is the third health, after shields and armour

anyway i think tracking pilot health wouldn't be good at the scale the game is played. having the Blackhand work by chewing through hull is fine; as it stands, the player would do far, far more self-damaging acts over a 15-map run than any enemy could, and it'd just be a massive pain in the rear end

Inexplicable Humblebrag
Sep 20, 2003

right i don't really consider overshield its own health bar, although i can see how that makes sense. i'm normally going fast enough that i'm totally topped up, i'm limping along on low shields, or i'm dead

i am learning to deal with spacer deathblobs and i am also remembering to crouch more. it makes a surprising difference

right so those little spacer powersuits that are basically a walking gun

do those things fire Banshees?

they look like they're using a caseless machinegun but that means it's a main mount on a powersuit

i normally go with cannon/chaingun as a loadout, but i have started branching out a little because frankly i'm using tiny vehicles and i want the goddamn money

Forks with Disco/Bully are stupidly fun, as they just melt anything you turn your mouse cursor on, but i've just discovered the joys of a Hoker with a Temblor/Black Hand and thermoptic camo. silently glide through the city, carve quiet holes to avoid troop concentrations, and then melt people through their rear armour, with a x3 vehicle bonus at the end of things. run into someone with raised shields? no problem! just smash your agrav into them again and again while holding down the Temblor button and screaming while they struggle to get a lock on your tiny zippy vehicle

are the vehicle multipliers set to be revamped as part of the rebalance? it's a bit weird having the Doric give the same bonus as the Betushka

Black Hand is for sniping things through walls, Lockdown is if you run up against something shielded and can't reach it in time. AK pulse is necessary because your weapons do very, very limited cover damage.
