The ninja set from Kakariko helps a ton obviously, or you can make food or elixirs that give you sneakiness.

I grabbed 20 easy staying to the edges. There is definately a way to do it. I tried battling him (no...just. no.) but did the stealth way. The tree at the top has the the most per tree.

Also take a picture of him....for reasons.
