this is a cool band that changes their style every album whether it be a

native american inspired story album

or a

helloween inspired fuzz rock album

to my personal favorite

carlos santana inspired concept album

they have peace albums 2 kidna i mean the first one was kinda quarters there btu then they did this:

its exactly what you expect

their new album is this:

a infinitely looping fuzz sequel to in your mind

discuss

also heres good songs:

Fuzz songs:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buuAcYVCHgE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2PjdldHnko

Peaceful hippie poo poo:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUZn1I6llJs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntpt0fq3Jn8

also all their albums are gimmicky as gently caress with extras and shapes its like godbless you black emperor but with actual listenable music on the LP

That's a really stupid name for a band.

Big Bidness
Aug 2, 2004

It's a really stupid, embarrassing name, and when you try to describe what they do, the name makes it seem like they're Ween or some poo poo. It's too bad because they're really good. John Dwyer has put out a bunch of their records, and I think King Gizzard is like a better version of Thee Oh Sees.

USAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard is a bad name, but as far as modern garage/psych/fuzz bands go it's like not even in the top 20 worst.

This is a genre where one of the most idolized performers willingly used the name "Jay Reatard" and a band called "Diarrhea Planet" is near mainstream crossover. Love all this music though.

Best band name is Buck Biloxi & The Fucks, fyi

Only just found out about this band from the PYF thread and can't get enough of the new album.

You ever see a band mentioned a lot but never give them the time of day, then you do and kick yourself over not listening to them sooner? That was me for King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Saw their new album Nonagon Infinity in record stores and featured on various lists of albums to watch out for and didn't care. Then someone linked me this:

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Gamma Knife

And the follow up, People-Vultures

Now have go to decide whether I'm going to see them in London next month.

Feels like if they simply just shortened it to King Gizzard it'd be just garden variety dumb. They're good, though.

A lot of the time on the radio it's shortened to King Gizz, or King Gizz and The Lizz Wizz if they want to be more complete but still save a few syllables.

I went!

Caught them last night at the Brixton Electric and they delivered.
Did the first five (four?) tracks straight off one after the other just like on the CD, before taking a breather / guitar change over.
At least one new song, couple from I'm In Your Mind Fuzz (Cellophane and ???) and Paper Mache Dream Balloon (Trapdoor) and the rest of Nonagon Infinity, finishing with Road Train (where I thought they were going to start NI all over again. Don't know if there was an encore, I had to get a train home.

No monk habits, which was a shame, but they did rock the completely packed place out.

King Giz are loving incredible. Have known about them for a while but saw them at Splendour in the Grass this year and was blown away by them.

I quickly digested all their albums, they are even better than I imagined.

Going to Gizzfest in a few weeks to see them again, will be nice to see Pond again too.

Robot Stop/Big Fig Wasp/Evil Death Roll are my faves off Nonagon

Caught these guys in a one off show in Hackney a few months ago - they belted the poo poo out of that place, amazing most pit. Guys I know that toured with them in AU said they were a bunch of dickheads, but they can sure get a vibe going

I personally know most of the guys in the band and they are all cool. Bad name but great music.

They're putting on their second annual Gizzfest this month and the lineup is pretty sweet.

Seen them too many times to count and can't recommend them enough.

This thread is good and should get more attention. Peace.

Also I'm so out of the Melbourne loop now - I have no idea who anyone is at Gizzfest!

Thanks for making this thread. I've seen King Gizzard pop up around here for tour but never bothered to check em out. I'm checking out Nonagon Infinity and then have Quarters and I'm In Your Mind Fuzz next on the list. I've been looking for some new guitar driven music to get into, and this is scratching that itch.

Open Water (on the new album) grooves SO HARD. I love it. That and Sleep Drifter are absolutely supreme. Overall I think it's a really strong release and I'm excited to see what else they drop this year.

I listened to Murder of the Universe without doing any research mostly focusing on the sick riffs and thought the lyrics were a little weird.

Then I decided to read the Wikipedia page. "Oh, there's a plot? Oh- *reads Han-Tyumi* - OH. Oh. My god. I recommended this band to so many people this week. Welp."
