The monkey sleepover game was bullshit because I nailed everything except the two pillow tosses and it gave me a 71.

some parts are definitely weighted in the scoring (not just the star segments) -- it was like that in the earlier games, too. missing the final beat on a song usually tanks your score pretty hard. it's weird but it adds tension. the other games didn't give you a # score either so you had no idea how close you were to getting a superb or whatever

one song gave me like one point below passing, and then added a few extra points to the meter in a different color and said "but you did ok" or something like that and let me pass

I think the message was "but some parts were good" and it's based on nailing those highly-weighted sections? Idk really but I don't think it's a pity mechanic (like when you can pay coins to skip a song) because I've had it happen on my first play of a minigame

Most of the great ones from the DS game that didn't make it are the ones that relied on swipes, so maybe that's the one to get. That one is really drat hard tho

I hated the swipes in the DS version because it felt like it never registered when I wanted it to and I wanna buy this game just for not having swipes

They replace swipes and a+b with just regular B presses. Some games use the D-pad. Theres an option for tap controls but it doesn't make you swipe, it just lets you hold it down and release.

there's over 70 games I believe. It's a small thing but I wish they didn't have dialogue boxes before and after every song because it breaks me out of the flow, I wish every area was like the remix towers where you just had 5 songs to clear, go.

i think nearly all the songs are exactly the same as the original versions, tho like 10 of them they made shorter easier versions of as well to start the game with, and you can also switch between the english and japanese versions if you wish

most of the graphics updates also look great except uhhh whatevers going on with the dazzles there
