His real gift was making noise, then sitting back and allowing the rest of the world to pretend it's art.

He was a really good composer and a very talented guitar player and 75% of his music is unlistenable crap.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono wrote a song that Frank Zappa performed on called Jamrag. I think Yoko deserves most of writing credit though. https://youtu.be/T039BO8Q_88

hahahahahahquote:"The song describes a wealthy, misogynist student named Bobby Brown, "the cutest boy in town", whose life is the archetypical American Dream until a traumatic sexual encounter with "Freddie", a lesbian involved in the women's liberation movement, leaves him questioning his sexuality. Bobby transforms into a leisure suit-wearing closeted homosexual working in radio promotions; by the end of the song, he and "a friend" (later implied to be his boss, as he will "do anything to get ahead") have become self-described "sexual spastic(s)" involved in golden showers and S&M, for which he thanks his "friend", Freddie." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iW4Bm7q_zOc

I like zappa but I was never a huge fan. He has some good songs but I think the only albums I've heard in full are Only in it for the Money, Uncle Meat, and Grand Wazoo so I don't know a lot of his other stuff.

Joe's Garage is a double album musical about, among other things, how your life will be ruined if you pursue a career in music, and it is extremely great start to finish

The college radio station I would DJ would have a Zappathon every year. I spent a lot of time censoring the curses out of my favorite Zappa songs to make them FCC friendly.
