Add another name to the alternative/novelty DVD companies pile: Vinegar Syndrome I haven't seen any of their catalogue, but Night Train to Terror is on TCM tonight, and it looks like they do a lot of deep cut trash films. edit: They have a huge catalogue of porno chic K. Bumping this thread to shout out the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles. Every month they stack their bill with great double features, and host a ton of special event screenings. They have an archive of their monthly flyers on their website so you can see what they've shown in the past, and I love that they only screen films in 35mm (or 16mm in certain cases). January's already off to a great start. http://thenewbev.com Last night I went to a double feature of the 1979 film From Hell to Victory and the 1978 version of The Inglorious Bastards. I never realized how much Top Secret cribbed from these two movies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39pUyYJS5pM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4XW-L2Uq50 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTHInCY_baA ruddiger fucked around with this message at 21:34 on Jan 12, 2017 |

Hi. I unbanned myself and will be active with this thread / updating the OP as needed. That being said... Gorehounds, check out Aftermath (1994) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aftermath_(1994_film)#/media/File%3AAftermath_FilmPoster.jpeg It's probably the most intensely hosed up film I've seen, and I've seen quite a lot of hosed up exploitation. It plays a lot like the Guinea Pig series from Japan. It's 30 minutes of pure autopsy body mutilation. The effects look quite well done. No dialogue. Here's the wiki synopsis: Wikipedia posted:A woman named Marta Arnau Marti dies in a car crash, after accidentally running over a dog. An orderly wheels Marta's body into a morgue drawer, past a mourning couple, who a nurse gives a crucifix necklace. The orderly overhears two workers autopsying a pair of male bodies, looks in on them out of curiosity, and leaves when one of the morticians (who is disturbingly enthused by his duties) glares at him. The morticians complete their work on the dead men, and while one leaves, the other remains, and brings in Marta's body. Seriously though, it's pretty bad. This is a hefty endurance watch. I'd love to see if someone could top this one.

It's been a long time since I watched Aftermath, but I recall being disappointed by how not real a lot of the corpse effects looked. It doesn't hold a candle to Flowers of Flesh and Blood in regards to effects.

I'll recommend this podcast: http://www.grindhousefilm.com They do a pretty good job covering exploitation flicks from all decades. They're decently funny. I enjoy some of the running gags. It's a longish podcast so I like that too. It has good audio quality.

Marta (the "main" corpse) didn't look so great. Flowers of Flesh and Blood definitely looks great for how old it is though. Recommending that as well for gore fans.

Speaking of Guinea Pig, is Mermaid in a Manhole as well done as Flowers? I haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

Mermaid in a Manhole IIRC is the best one.
