Josh Lyman posted:Might as well start carving Serena's name onto the trophy. Lisicki was the last person who stood a chance to take her down and she went out in 3R. Kerber beat her in the final of the Australian this year and they could meet in the final again here, plus there's always a chance Serena just has one of her terrible matches and loses to someone totally unexpected, like VInci last year. But yeah she's pretty clearly the heavy favourite, as usual. I can't believe no one has knocked Venus Williams out yet though. She can barely move around the court.

Anyone have any spectating advice? At noon I managed to refresh Ticketmaster and enter a complicated captcha which involved making rivers disappear at an incredibly rapid pace. I've never attended a tennis tournament before. e: going Thursday

I've never attended a tennis tournament before. The one thing that stayed with me from when I went to see tennis live was how much clearer the nuances are of the ball's movement. Things like speed, spin, bounce, etc. are much more discernible live than on a broadcast, at least for me they were. I'd pay attention to that. Other than that just enjoy watching tennis commentator-free.

If you try and leave at other points you'll be getting told off, so don't bother trying.

Halep vs Kerber was a really good match. Kerber for the final against Serena imo and if she keeps playing like this it'll be a hell of a match.

Cillic a break up in the second too now. He's powering that forehand into Federer's backhand and rushing him so he can't get any depth, giving Cillic more time again to run around his backhand and wind up his huge forehand. Federer desperately needs to get Cillic moving laterally more, even if he takes more risks on his backhand side. Also wouldn't hurt if he could return better, Cillic is dominating it on his first serve. tanglewood1420 fucked around with this message at 14:06 on Jul 6, 2016 |

I thought Federer would have trouble against two big servers in a row but I didn't think he would struggle at the first hurdle. Roanic is also two sets up.

Shame the one time Djokovic loses early Federer comes into a major in poor form. Imagine if Anderson had closed it out last year. On the plus side, if he does lose this I'll at least not have to fret over a Murray/Federer final. Can't decide if that would be a lose-lose or a win-win situation but I lean towards the former.
