Turns out trying to out-debate populist policies is as futile as ignoring them. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Malmö is an ugly city* full of cool people and a really nice sense of community. It's a bizarro-world version of Stockholm, basically. *Not terrible in any way, just very plain and full of 3 story brick buildings on a big flat plain.

I mean they were both LF leftists and Irony Boys and this was before the rise of identity politics, so iirc they got along just fine. I once went with Tink to watch Kawa perform standup in Uppsala (he died pretty badly but so did most of the acts). These days they're clearly on opposite sides of a bunch of issues but they're still on the left.

L (formerly FP) tend to lean more towards standard social-liberalism and centre-right politics. C has a loud fringe contingent of inner city libertarian morons ("Stureplanscentern" as they were referred to a few years ago) but try to balance that with the more traditional agrarian wing in the country side who dislike taxes, like small businesses etc. but are less keen on free drug use and (presumably) the end of the welfare state/rise of the randian train-powered economy of tomorrow. M used to be the mainstream conservative choice, then swung left to try to pick up S-voting middle class people and are now seeming to swing back right in order to pick up SD voters instead.

A few months ago there were rumours (probably fuelled by Nyheter Idag/Chang Frick, #1 poo poo stirrer EU) that Kent Ekeroth was one of the big obstacles that kept M from approaching SD was Kent Ekeroth. His potential removal from the scene now sure is serendipitous for both parties.
