No. Some pop culture in the 80s was great, but living through them was awful.

I was seven years old at the end of the decade so as far as I was concerned everything ruled.

Good thing I've grown up enough to realize how severely the opposite of that is true for every decade of human existence :smith:

I'm not being nostalgic, I was barely alive for most classic hip hop and I'm white as poo poo, it definitely wasn't a big part of my upbringing or childhood

It's good because it is good, not because it's old, is my point I guess.

You guys talking about country music should check out Old Crow Medicine Show or the Steeldrivers, not everything being recorded this century is crossover friendly garbage designed to let people in red states who make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year feel like they're still redneck.

I've been reading it digitally. I like it a lot so far, but I want to limit how many physical comics I get because of space.

I'll probably switch to getting it physically when Darth Vader ends in a few months.

Oh, if you're reading it digitally, I think that counts as being on your 'list'. I think 'pull list' sort of means 'whatever comics I'm reading every month' since digital is blurring the edges.

What else you readin' digitally? Detective is real good.

More people saw the 1989 Batman film than have read Batman comics and that makes it the prevalent version of Batman.

More people have seen the Nolan Batman films at this point and it's much fresher in people's minds.

I like the Burton Batman better myself but I really doubt it's still the prevalent version of Batman to the general public.

Probably because of VIZ's new dub that they're doing now. Which is really good, actually.

I've been reading a lot of Brubaker and Darwyn Cooke stuff lately and along with this talk of Moore's work, it got me thinking.

I've enjoyed literally everything I've read by both Brubaker and Cooke, and I can't think of any other writers for whom that holds true. My other favorites, like Lemire or BKV, either have particularly crappy books or else have a noticable hole in their game (BKV's inability to finish books without going off the rails).

So... Who are the creators who can do no wrong by you?

Cooke is probably one for me too. Grant Morrison comes close. Greg Rucka would also be one. He hasn't done much but so far I could put Tom King on that list too.

The only reason to own any physical object is that you enjoy using it for the function it provides. If you keep comic books or toys or whatever you had better like reading/playing with/looking at them, because they are not going to make you any dang money.

e: Hey BSS what are the good Dark Horse Alien/Predator/Other 80s action franchise comic books to read??
