Memento-Mori \\ Hound and Raccoon

Moving out of the rogue's line of sight, Mori gestures towards Purrsian_Man, conjuring a thin needle of shadow, trailed with a paper seal. The needle fires towards her target, piercing through the air and lodging itself in the cat's arm. With a flash, the seal disappears and the needle blossoms into a black rose, thorny vines emerging from the wound and and wrapping themselves around the cat's dominant arm, restricting his attacks.

Early Week

(Assuming Akio is finished with lunch-time events and Takashi is finished with track events, I'll cycle new events for them Monday or Tuesday Night.)

Akio - Lunch

: Akane's eyes light up as she helps herself to your lunch. "Woooah! Uhm.. Akio, was it? You know, if things don't work out, you can always be friends with us!" She gives you a cool wink ruined by her picking through the food like an excited little kid.

Itsumi and Tsukiyo - Bathroom Brawl

: Manami doesn't blink in the least and clips her forehead across the bridge of Tsukiyo's nose, sending blood flying from a nosebleed! Tsukiyo takes 5 Physical Damage that cannot be Reduced. "You punks! You really thought you could get this big freak to scare us!?" Manami's words are dripping with contempt and the other girls are crowding in around her, pressing the three of you against the door and the nearby wall. Even Madoka is spooked by the sudden overt aggression. They're all laughing and three of the other girls flash metal implements, some lined up against knuckles, others held in the hands. Manami laughter is broken up by rifts of static. "I'm gonna kick your asses..."

Everything slows to a halt and Madoka and the other seven girls go completely still as Manami continues, the room dimming rapidly. "Take whatever you got and teach you some respect..." Glass encases you and everything goes black!

You're still inside the school, but Madoka and the other girls are frozen inside the coffins from Other School. So are the two of you but you retain your consciousness, and can move. The interior of the coffins is cramped and miserable, cold and unusual. Manami steps up to one of the coffins and reaches in, her forearm wreathed in flickering black static. She withdraws the bat that the girl inside was holding and tests the weight of it, laughing as she turns to the two of you. Every so often static washes over her and the figure of several mosntrous figures flickers in, one mimicking her movements as intimately as a shadow, the other two simply looming over the cruel girl with their arms crossed, bladed teeth grinning in anticipation. Manami's shadow is a mixture of fish and snake features with heavy scales and a long serpentine tail in place of legs, coiled around Manami's waist. The other two remind you of classic horned Oni and are as tall as the ceiling, appearing infrequently.


Music

You feel an involuntary tensing as Manami takes a few practice swings with the bat, then eyes Tsukiyo's coffin and steps forward, taking on the gait and stance like she's about to... she grips the bat handle with both hands and chuckles darkly, the figures in her shadow joining in. You become aware of the threads of fate connecting this frozen point in time with two outcomes...

You actually intimidate the Naoki gang...

Or Manami will make good on her threats...

(Everybody is up again! Raccoon and Enemies act Tuesday Night!)

With a loud pleading yowl Tolkien fumbles his ledge grab and falls to the forest floor below, taking a reduced 27 Fall Damage! Feeling an unavoidable urge, Tsukiyo follows the Catte Magi down and executes a daring Plunging Attack! (Rolled Acrobatics Result: 16) Tsukiyo takes a reduced 22 Fall Damage but deals 52 Damage! (MBA + 4d10) on impact, executing the wily wizard! He lets out a brutal death yowl and fades away... though none of this actually produces tangible noise regarding the Forest Guard!

Looking quite smug and cock-sure of himself, the Dashing Rogue quick-draws a dagger and lunges forward, executing a daring feint against Akio that... utterly falls flat! He crashes into Akio's chest and peers up, his ears flattening down. Pausing for perfect comedic effect, the Dashing Rogue then takes a half-step back and draws upon an even more absurd and heroic pose as he Action Points! ! ! ! ! ! With a perfect lunge he lunges at Akio, light-speed feints and reverses direction, and loops through the stoic sword-mage's legs like a, well, a cat! Each pass slashes at Akio's ankles and a boosted 24 Physical Damage(Crit Max) plus 11 Poison Damage! Akio is knocked Prone and for the rest of the encounter, he falls prone if he moves more than half his speed! With smuggest look the Dashing Rogue Shifts backwards and waggles his dagger in a taunting gesture with a "Nyah-hah-hah-hah!!"

Purrsian goes big with his swing but perhaps he should've gone home when he whiffs against Takashi! Noriko deals Weakness Damage via Psychic to Purrsian, dealing an additional 2 damage!

Thinking hard, Raccoon makes a sub-optimal play and drops to 4 Health! He's got a few guys on board but perhaps it is time to withdraw from this battle.. if you could just flip the other two switches! Caitte rummages through the junk and produces a suitable metal rod, tossing it to Noriko. At least you can force the 2nd Lever without using one of your weapons! It'll be noisy, though... he salutes the lot of you before activating a polymorph utility and dashing into the cliff-side door, having transformed into a sneaky black tabby.

"It wasn't me they were dis...." Akio's voice trails off as he's answering Noriko, feeling a bit embarrassed about how the quarrel with his friends got started. "N-Nevermind. Yeah, you're right. I'm sure it'll be fine." He smiles, feeling a bit better. Then he casts an overly suspicious sidelong glance at the seemingly insatiable Akane as she pipes up. "Thanks... Glad I've got your stomach's support at least?" he laughs.

Akio // Morning - Mid Week (Grim Discovery)

Akio is taking it easy, sitting in his room and doing some light reading before heading off to school when his phone starts to buzz. He picks it up and smiles as he sees it's from Noriko, but a concerned frown takes hold as he reads her messages.

He can feel butterflies flit around in his belly as he nears her house. He would get to walk to school together with Noriko... Ah, don't be an idiot, she's worried about something, focus!

: Manami can't be Surprised! She raises her bat and parries the incoming blows, a bloody red aura manifesting around her before she strikes Tsukiyo clear across the front, a wicked vengeance strike inflicting 17 Physical Damage! "You trash! I'll loving flay you both!" One side of the bathroom begins to rapidly rise in temperature, the smell of heated stone rising as the silhouette of the super masculine Red Oni appears overhead...

In the midst of the chaos Itsumi is able to react the quickest, prompting Tsukiyo to follow her lead(Won Initiative!) A red-string shoots out from her heart in a brief shimmer and connects to the nearby coffin holding a rigid Madoka, who begins to radiate her competitive spirit into the area, granting you both Overseer Bonuses. You gain an additional +1 Attack and may choose to strike Manami's Will in place of her AC! However when you do, she gets the same option!

Tsukiyo and Itsumi are up!


Coffins block movement, the path to the other side of the room is through H13

Tsukiyo - Bathroom

Tsukiyo immediately tries to slash Manami upon her strike, but misses by a hair's breadth! "You... You hit me! You made my friend cry and hide for all this time, and you prey upon those who are weaker than you! You horrible scum, I won't forgive you!" She says as her avatar starts to glow in power, readying itself into the draw position alongside her user. "The purpose of the sword is to cleave evil into pieces! Persona Style - Flash of the Soaring Dragon!" With a yell, Flagelo slashes at Manami and her Oni persona! The pressure and strength of the attack is enough to crack a massive scar upon the wall behind her, only for the marks of two other slashes suddenly manifest alongside it! "Disappear."

For the briefest moment, lasting the eternity between heartbeats, the only thought in Takashi's head is the oncoming rejection, confidence or not, he must surely have overplayed his hand. Then, like the first rays of dawn, her smile breaks the spell. She said yes? She said yes! TKO! TKO! Internally, Takashi is all fist pumping and macho bravado, but externally he keeps the quiet charm he is known for. Maybe she can see the fire burning in his eyes, maybe not.

"I will pick you up, if you don't mind a taxi," strictly more fancy than public transport, but also more private and hopefully mature, "We'll keep it casual, got it," he can't help but smile back at her. For the remainder of the day, Takashi might as well be walking on clouds.

Not wanting to show up all sweaty and winded, Akio stops to catch his breath for a minute about a hundred meters from Noriko's place. He hadn't expected to have to run so far when he had first set off! If this was going to become a regular thing he should look into getting a bike. A regular thing... He can't help but grin ear to ear at the prospect and gives his hair a tousle as he takes in the surroundings. It felt like an entirely different place compared to where he lived, with apartment buildings crowding the sky and the somewhat more busy streets. Still had that suburban feel to it though, it wasn't like central Kobe. He grabs a towel from his messenger bag and wipes his face, then checks his reflection in a puddle of water. He looks at himself with a frown and messes with his hair a bit more. Ugh, what does she see in me? He shakes his head. Ah, whatever, better not keep her waiting any longer!

With hurried steps he continues walking to the address he's been given, and soon finds Noriko outside her apartment building and approaches her. He smiles at her as he greets her, but definitely looks worried. "Hey, I came as fast as I could..." He sort of awkwardly places a hand on her shoulder, trying to be reassuring. "What's wrong?"

She flinches somewhat at Akio entering her space, unaccustomed, for the most part, to being touched. She blushes, trying to quickly move past her anxious reaction and hoping he didn't notice. "...Um!" she stammers, digging through her book bag. "it's... kind of hard to explain... there's been someone... bullying me, sort of?' she considers how much to immediately share, wanting to not come across as a crazy person. "I don't know who's doing it, but it's been weird things along my route to school, and then this morning this was on my doorstep..." she pulls the bottle from her bag and shows the contents to Akio. "...that's my hair in that comb. i don't even know where they would have found it. this seems to be getting more serious..."

She hesitates, biting her lip and looking off to the side nervously. "...Akio, do you know anything about the Occult? Y'know, like... Magic and rituals and stuff?

At least for you, your friends, and people like you... friend or foe. You can cast Rituals IRL, and even spend Gold now to purchase new ones... (fluffed as spending money IRL at strange places!)

Tracking some aspect of the stalker is possible using the essence of malice associated with this strong hex!

Takashi: The next morning(before Thursday) you find yourself walking to school with your good friends Masami and Hitomi, your childhood BFF and your middle-school ex. It doesn't take long before you nonchalantly launch the good news, a perfectly angled artillery shot guaranteed to leave a lasting social impact.

: "Takashi! How! Why!? We're barely a month into school and you're already at the top of the ladder?! W-what will I do, down here, with all the normal people..." Masami's tone is good-natured, but his concern is real. He hasn't quite adapted to the art of popularity as you have yet...

: "Tcccch. Classic Takky. Spots the biggest, tallest, highest peak he can climb and runs straight for it." Hitomi has begun to mature a bit into a classic beauty, but is still quite young-looking and sounding. She compensates for it with impeccable fashion sense. "Like in middle school, when you tried to ask Sakura-Senpai out. I think you redder than an apple right there, when she shot you down..." Hitomi laughs underhandedly, knowing exactly what you'd do next: plan a bit better and woo her. Though the two of you ended up getting on each other's nerves in time, once you really got to know the other. "Is this the big come-back story? Takky gets the one that got away?"

Then Tsukiyo seizes the upper hand and inflicts massive damage! Suffering a great deal of damage rapidly, Manami grits her teeth and stands strong, gaining 10 THP through sheer dogged grit! In reaction to being Bloodied, Manami automatically Shifts 1 and manifests her Avatar, the vicious shark-snake lady leaning forward and vomiting out a choking cloud of grey gas that smells of musty stone! The sudden burst overwhelms you briefly and you both breath it in, suffering Ongoing Poison 10(Save Ends)!



The hyper-studly Red Oni appears looming over the room and crashes down with a two-fisted hammer strike, enveloping half of the room in brutal flame! Although you both evade the brunt of the burst, you still suffered a Halved 13 Fire Damage!(17 to Itsumi assuming equipped Sidhe due to Fire Weakness!) In the other half of the room the ultra-matronly Blue Oni manifests overhead, pumping and flexing her arms in preparation.

Manami curses loudly as she ends up bleeding from the ears and nostril after Tsukiyo's outrageous strike. But even worse, Itsumi's condemnation limits her actions... she invokes a cloak of shades and teleports away from the two of you, leaving behind a malignant zone of ill will!

In the middle of bamboozling these chumps, Caitte props open one of the treasure chests inside the Forest Guard barracks and chortles.

: "Nyah hah hah... don't mind if I do~"

But then the sudden wrenching of a loud, improperly designed bit of machinery outside causes the entire table of card players to snap to attention(Perception Pass for Enemy!) A pair of lightly armored cats emerges from the cliff-side opening and level a pair of heavy bolters at Tsukiyo, the clockwork contraptions belching out veils of steam as pistons rapidly charge up sparking energy from rows of shiny colored crystals. At a maximized interval the built up power is discharged, firing bolts straight at Tsukiyo and violently releasing the excess energy as mortars upon Akio! Tsukiyo is struck by a searing metal bolt for 10 Fire Damage and Akio soaks a crackling electrified blast of 9 Lightning Damage!

Dashing falls with a practiced grace, avoiding a soak and ending up merely adjacent to Ambrose, who gives him a proper thrashing. He hops to his feet and activates a Utility with a Minor, quick-swaps to his bow for Free and turns to wildly open fire upon Takashi and Noriko in an impossible frenzy of fired arrows, a sheer cloud of projectiles falling upon the two in a massive radius! ... Dashing is left gawking in horrified disbelief as not a single arrow hits home!!! A giant sweatdrop emoticon passives over his head...



: "HHHHHEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLPPPPPP!!!" Raccoon comes Running wildly from the East, easily outpacing the three bulky pursuers in his wake. An idle scan of the party chat reveals a sequence of events in which Raccoon loses his Runesigil match, he bet the Dogs 1000 gold on the outcome, he doesn't have 1000 gold, these guys are good for it, let me go get these guys, now I am running for my life.

Tsukiyo flips the final switch and the third pillar lowers, allowing the river to flow freely! It comes with such abundance that though some of it goes off the western drop in a beautiful waterfall arch, the rest creates surging rapids heading downhill to the South! Materializing from thin air in the wake of the last dropping pillar, a pair of rafts bubble up from the water and lash themselves to the nearby stone, animated ropes tying themselves in knots against small iron hooks embedded in the stone. A large iron grate pops up in the river, to prevent the rafts from drifting down the Western path.

: "That's our ticket out!" Caitte emerges from the cliff-side opening, dashes between the two Cat Archers and transforms from kitten back into halfling, reaching into his reappearing inventory and throwing a small consumable at Tsukiyo! It's a thick piece of burlap cloth that allows you to drop once without fall damage!

Even as she is hobbled by the gray cloud's paralyzing agent and the various oni's attacks, Tsukiyo and her avatar enter a thrusting stance, and she leaps forward at light speed forwards Manami, punching the bully girl's face once as her avatar persona stabs the shadow with a violent advance before doing a light-speed second strike that slashes at her body! "Ah, no, it was not too far at all." Akio replies with a grin, speaking truthfully. Some things were absolutely worth going the extra mile for, after all... Hehe, if she could read my mind she'd most definitely call me corny again.

Being somewhat decent at reading body language, Akio can't help but notice Noriko's unease as he touches her shoulder, and he immediately recoils and withdraws his hand, offering a quiet "sorry" and averting his eyes, feeling a bit hurt, but mostly mad at himself. Why did you do that all of a sudden, you idiot?! It's only been a few seconds and you already blew it... He chastises himself as the butterflies in his belly band together into a solid lump of anxiety. He does his best to push those thoughts from the front of his mind as he listens to her talk, and by the time she's finished they've been thoroughly displaced by anger at whoever it is that's tormenting her. "What the hell..." He scowls intensely as he looks at the small bottle. "Your hair? What kind of piece of poo poo does that!" He looks her in the eyes again, resolutely. "I'm glad you told me. Let's get to the bottom of this and put an end to it, alright?"

"The occult?" Akio scratches the back of his head as he thinks of what to say. "Yeah... I mean, I've got a few grimoires on my computer that I've read through. Heh, I think my step-mom would freak out if she found an actual copy of the Lemegeton in my room... But I've never actually attempted any of the rituals, always been a bit worried they might actually work, you know?" He chuckles nervously. "Ah, that pentacle you wore the other day is from the Key of Solomon, right? I thought I recognized it... So, uh, why do you ask?"

Ambrose rolls his eyes as the fur ball rejoins the group chased by his Runesigil opponents. At least the idiot had good timing... "Just head for the raft, Raccoon. We're pretty much done here." He then teleports just one step closer to the detestable cat and successfully catches him off guard, following up with a rapid series of strikes with his longsword. "Did you already forget what we said about who you were allowed to attack?" He sneers condescendingly. "Just die already, before you make a even more of a fool of yourself."

You'll never be at the bottom, never have, never will," turning to Hitomi, he follows up with good humor at the memory she surfaces, "Do you remember the look on Sakura-senpai's face? You'd think I was a pig that just asked her to roll around in the mud with me! And besides, you're the only one that 'got away', Hitomi," sticking his tongue out just a little, he pulls his eyelid down at her. Knowing exactly the face she'll make to that, he begins laughing in earnest.

Noriko \\ Grim Discovery / Morning (Mid-Week)

"Ahh, really? It's good that you're close, I can rely on you, then..." Noriko notes, feeling a little self-conscious he'd noticed her flinch. "whatever their intent, this was used for some kind of ritual. there was some dead mice, too..." she looks more irritated about this than unnerved.

She seems relieved at Akio's response to her occult inquiry. "it's one of those things people get weird about..." she opens her her bookbag and shows him the contents, half school books and the other half occult references, notably her old leather-bound editions of the Lesser Key of Solomon and The Grand Grimoire (and her notes tucked inside of each) along with a modern japanese printing of The Book of Abramelin. "...it's my hobby. I'm starting a club. You can be my dark apprentice, if you want." She looks serious! "I need help reversing this ritual, hopefully before the caster's aura fades... We... might be late. I hope that's okay?"

She fidgets, looking off to the side. "I mean, if you're afraid you might get into trouble we can save this for after school, but I'm worried it'll be too late..."



Later that morning, at Borderless...



Noriko pauses when she sees the girl at the counter. "hold on... you!!!" she exclaims. "...you almost caused trouble for me with my mom with your weird getup! you should be more tactful! people are conservative here!" she pauses. "...I like your cape, though..." She can't help but feel a little jealous at Jennifer's bold wardrobe choices, even with the nagging sense that Jennifer is probably not human.

Looking through the stacks, Noriko can't help but make out the occasional excited yelp at spotting a rare title she'd been seeking. "I didn't even know this place was here..." she pulls a few particular titles off the shelf, opening the books up and flipping through to some relevant rituals. "We can scry both the history of the object itself and locations associated with it through ritual divination... With both of us this should be easy."

Now that you're face to face with her, you immediately pick up on her Westerner features and even a hint of a suppressed accent... American? (Passive Insight) "Please forgive me. I just like to dress this way... Let me know if you need any help."

You have no trouble purchasing the Ritual, provided you have the gold(prompting Akio to contribute to the difference for the cost, you two settle the split.) Jennifer uses her mobile and an unseen app with grim grey tones outlined in violent red framing to exchange your... funds... to a legal tender. Somehow. She winks and bows again, an extra-deep one as she says "Thank you for your patronage!" This close you can see that her horns are props... Made in China is prominent on the back of one on the left.

Takashi - The Big Night

: Masami laughs and casually brushes his shirt-sleeve pass his eyes. He totally wasn't emotional, at least not like he immediately is right now, beaming. "You're the best, Takashi! Be my wingman soon, yeah?"

: Hitomi sets a hand on her hip and makes a little pose, looking very pleased with herself. "You got that right. I'll tell you what, Takashi... you blow it with Hattori and maybe I'll help you make some other girl jealous." She drums her fingers together and looks suspiciously Akane-like for a moment. :3: "A brush with that Senpai would make you even more socially impressive."

Ahh, friendship.

Takashi, Thursday Night: You promised to provide transportation for your date with Takano. To their credit, your family hasn't driven you crazy about it yet... but maybe they figure you have to go on the date before they can wring details out of you! What's your prep?

(LAY is busy so auto-piloting.) Itsumi fails her save. As both she and Tsukiyo suffer from the dangerous poison gas, they can feel their bodies begin to turn stiff and rigid, their flesh beginning to cake over with soft grey stone as they petrify... (First Failed Save! You're both Slowed(Save Ends Both!)

The muscular matron Blue Oni falls from the sky in a thundering elbow drop, lightning and the crack of thunder echoing across her half of the room! Tsukiyo is able to evade the initial impact but residual lightning arcs across her blade and down her arms, zapping her for a Halved 12 Lightning/Thunder Damage! The ethereal Oni rises and tags in the super-macho Red, his visage appearing over the other half of the room again!

: Coming out of her daze, Manami painfully parries against Tsukiyo's next strikes, each blow drawing blood from the hand she wields her bat with. She glares at Tsukiyo dead-on and growls something out: "Talk poo poo, get hit..." In an explosion of malicious black-red energy, Manami performs a Diabolical Transformation, gaining Regen 4, +2 Damage and Fire Resist +5! She cackles and leans down in a feral stance, seizing her own shadow with her off-hand and drawing it up in a Shroud of Shadow, gaining partial concealment(+2 Defenses) and another 10 THP! Manami howls with rage as she shoulders forward and thrusts her bat into Tsukiyo's stomach with full force! The Frenzing Smite is empowered by the Shroud of Shadow and inflicts additional damage... 40 Physical!!! Manami laughs and the air hangs still for a moment as Manami chortles darkly, the pain agonizing, Tsukiyo beginning to black out.

"No no no! It's not over!" The horned, scaled shark-girl before you screams and Manami twists her forearms and rotates the bat before Tsukiyo can even fall. Screaming black malice erupts from the tip, passing through Tsukiyo and phasing through her stomach before erupting out of her back, the Black Wrath of Hell dealing an additional 13 Damage! Tsukiyo is moved to G11 and Manami follows as part of the Frenzing Smite, the reckless attack causing her to grant CA USONT. Manami comes to a halt beside the body, grinning madly. In this real world, Tsukiyo blacks out... this isn't a game... your Persona won't save you! (Tsukiyo at -20 HP.)

But somebody else will! Itsumi moves forward to evade the dangerous zones on this side of the room, but her heavy foot-falls as Sunbright force her to stop short. She cries out in shock as the Oni Crash happens and she doesn't charge into the electrified impact zone! "TSUKIYO!!!" Itsumi instead channels all of her good energy into Tsukiyo through From the Brink, enabling Tsukiyo to Stand from Prone and Heal for a Surge +12! She continues boosting her friend with another Ardent Surge(Surge + 7!)

(You can make a round of actions here to wrap up anything you need, but I'll be updating on Sunday Night with the new map and assuming an escape on the rafts.)

Your brutal beatings stuff this cat into a sack and toss him into the river, his emerald form despawning as he perishes from raw damage. The immersion seems to leave a lasting aura on his comatose form before it vanishes. You get the feeling cats don't like water. Go figure.

Itsumi, Raccoon and Caitte follow everybody in the dash for the rafts. The little cliff-side door is flung open and a very good boy dashes out, moving quickly to intercept your group!



The rest of the Forest Guard Catillery Archer Squad emerges on the top railway, dashing forward. The two forward kittens rev up their overloading bolters again and fire at Tsukiyo and Caitte, missing the fleeing runners badly. The elemental excess goes flying towards Akio and Noriko, dealing 12 Cold Damage to Akio and 10 Thunder Damage to Noriko!

: "CHEESE IT!" The heavy Pugs are still in hot pursuit, struggling to hoist their heavy weapons overhead as they force themselves to try to Run on such little hind legs.

Tsukiyo - Bathroom

Tsukiyo stands on her feet after she is hit by the bat attack. Her eyes go white for a second, and she coughs up blood and saliva... But she does not fall to her knees. Upon Itsumi's burst of positive energy reenergizing her, the girl wipes her mouth with her hands, and stares right back at the devilish Manami, her eyes now bloodshot. "You done yet?" She asks while her avatar reappears behind her, holding her gigantic blade aloft as the girl readies herself. "My turn." She says as the fullblade descends towards Manami's snake-shark shadow, cleaving it vertically in twain before smashing down at the devil girl right at the same time as Tsukiyo performs an uppercut punch to her jaw, clamping her enemy's head with two smashing strikes! "ORAAAAAA!"

"Ooh, that's really cool!" Akio's eyes light up as Noriko shows off her books. "They lose a lot of their magic when they're just digital copies on a screen, you know? It's way different to see them in real life. And you're starting an occult club, huh? Hmm, I was thinking of joining the Student Council, but..." He strokes his chin as his eyes wander off, lost in thought with a mischievous smile on his lips. "The Black Magician Mori Noriko's Dark Apprentice... Hehe, I like the sound of that. To think of all such wonderful things you could show me..." He nods. "I accept!"

As she broaches the subject of truancy, he tries his best to not look like he's freaking out as he internally wrestles with the moral quandary, but probably doesn't conceal it very well. "Um... I've always been on time and never skipped class before. I'm a bit worried about the fallout..." He swallows hard. "But I'm worried about what's happening to you too, and when I said that you can always rely on me I meant it, so... If you're concerned that the trail of the caster will go cold... I think school can wait."

"Uh, this place is pretty amazing right? I found this tome on warding magic, looks useful. It's cheap anyway. Let's get it and your divination rituals, and maybe some other stuff, I've got some money saved up. Anyway, after that... Where should we go to try out the rituals? It's not really something we can do in public, especially not in our school uniforms, we'll get in trouble for sure. We need somewhere private."

A highly satisfied and more than a little twisted grin spreads across Ambrose's face as he watches the cat get drenched in the river and expire from their combined attack. He barely even notices the snipers rain down ice upon on him as he stands there.

Thursday, April 22 - Date Prep (#)

I wasn't super clear on Takano suggesting the place or not, but if she did, go with her suggestion. If not, Takashi will suggest something casual in the vein of this song - upbeat, trendy and with a bit of healthy and unhealthy choices to be made. I know she suggested the movie.

A few hours before the appointed time, Takashi closes his homework, pulls open his phone and texts Takano for her address. Letting her have some time to reply to that, he takes a quick shower to wash the day's labors off. Takano wanted casual, so Takashi layers a trendy hoodie over a collared shirt, not buttoning the top of the shirt, or cinching up the hoodie. He rolls up the sleeves on both to give a hip spring vibe, then selects a dark pair of pants, deciding at the last minute to leave the shirt untucked. Finishing the look with a pair of boat shoes and no-show socks, he tousles his hair into his trademark style, double-checking everything in the mirror.

Before rushing downstairs, Takashi grabs all the necessities; wallet, keys, mints and phone. "Be home later!" he calls, doing a drive by kiss on his aunt's cheek, then rushing out the door. Still early, he makes his way off property and towards the city center, catching the bus towards the Hattori residence No sense in wasting money that can be saved with a bit of forethought. Getting off the bus several blocks away, he fiddles with his phone until the time is right, then hails a cab with the RIKSHW app. Giving the driver the address, Takashi pops a mint, and when they arrive he instructs the drive to wait while he picks Takano up.

Walking up, Takashi does one last inspection of himself, straightening collars, checking the folds in his sleeves, probably not noticeable to anyone. With a deep breath, he rings the bell for the Hattori's.

Hound & Raccoon (#dog)

.attak does the sensible thing, rushing forward towards the rafts rather than waiting to get picked off by archers. Seeing that Ambrose is still laboring under a status debuff and not likely to clear much more than the front of the raft, he decides to leap the remaining distance so he can occupy the center.

Right before he gets to the raft, Ambrose hears a high pitched yipping; looking up his vision is filled by the majestic dog eclipsing the fake sunlight before landing perfectly on the raft beside him.

Noriko nods. "usually I just do rituals in my bedroom, but, um..." she looks a little flush. "A-Anyway, one of these rituals i'm going to have to do in front of my house... probably tonight. That might be a little weird with my mom! The other one, though... We can perform a psychometric reading on the object anywhere it's quiet." she says as she adjusts her glasses, considering the problem for a moment. "If we perform the ritual at school it wouldn't matter if we were in uniform. If we can sneak on the school grounds without getting caught we can just duck into an empty classroom and then blend in with the crowd between periods when we're done."

"Ah..." The color of Akio's face quickly mirrors Noriko's as she brings up where she usually performs her rituals. "Going to school when we're skipping class? That sounds really dangerous, what if we walk into someone that knows us?..." He tugs on his collar, suddenly feeling like he's not getting enough air. He shakes his head to himself as he tries and fails to come up with an alternative. "But you're right, I can't think of a better place for us to hide. It's too bad we don't already have a club room to do it in..." He bites his lip, trying one final time to coming up with something, but still comes up blank. "Well, I guess we should go then..."

Akio and Noriko: You've been browsing and shopping for so long that it's already close to mid day. Almost lunch time, really. Sneaking back into school might be tricky... or you could double down and get something to eat, then search for a private place to conduct rituals. You might get lucky with a city park or something(Skill Checks relevant), or perhaps... perhaps...

Akio's parents would be at work and he's an only child. An empty house!

Takashi: The driver takes you to the address for the Hattori resident. He brings you to a stop in the heart of Kobe, by some luxury high-rises. This is a super prestigious condo community, the building surrounded by up-scale places to shop, popular works of city beautification and walkways to an inner-city park. If somebody was well off and didn't want a full house like Uncle Kaname, this is what they'd shoot for, something within the city for those working in it. As you soak it all in at the front gate and briefly consider who to ask for help(there's a door-man! and security at the front desk, which has a full staff, and...) or whether to just look for an apartment buzzer, you hear a dignified and alert *BARK!*

: Walking with a handsome, powerful-looking dog at her side, Akane saunters up to you with a cheeky grin and narrowed eyes. Wearing a tight black camisole with the phrase Brave or Grave on it in white text and a pair of jeans, the younger Hattori stops a few steps further from you than you'd expect... the dog, a rare American Akita with an orange-white markings stands at attention and glares up at you, growling quietly. "Heel. Quiet." Licking his lips twice, the hound obeys and Akane approaches you. "Takashi, are you asking me out already?" About half a head shorter than you, you feel like playful antagonism is an improvement on your relationship with Akane. "Or is it Takano? Liked what you saw? ... Heeheeheeheehee..." That face! She cups her chest with both hands and pushes up a bit to show off modest cleavage. This is one cheeky girl!

Bathroom Brawl

The Other School begins to flood with static as Manami falls to her knees following the impact, her Avatar flickering wildly before eventually shorting out entirely, leaving her leaning against the bat with her head down, eyes twitching, tears pooling. Images of reality begin to push through the shadows and bleed over this crossroad of fates, the force of your wills pushing things towards a new outcome... and demanding power from the exchange!

In reality, Manami interrupts the tense stand-off by clipping Tsukiyo across the side of the nose with a headbutt, making her bleed from one nostril. This enrages Tsukiyo and provokes her into lunging at Manami, the two clawing and slapping at each other, both desperate to get a hand-hold. Everybody in the room is shocked and can only watch for now, the explosiveness of the exchange, the sheer hate you two feel stunning them. Itsumi tries to break the two up and this distracts Manami, who swats Itsumi away but is seized in a headlock by Tsukiyo!

Tsukiyo delivers a critical! fist to Manami's face, to one of her eyes. Manami screams in rage and struggles, eventually kicking Tsukiyo in the knee. When Tsukiyo stumbles, Manami wraps her arms around Tsukiyo's waist and pushes forward, slamming Tsukiyo stomach-first into a bathroom sink. Tsukiyo's vision swims and her eyes white out for a moment as Manami tries to accept a bat from one of her stunned goons.

Madoka reacts and lays three of the girls out with a pair of giant clotheslines from both arms. Itsumi intercedes and shoves the girl with the bat away, leaving Manami isolated. Tsukiyo manages to hold on... and socks Manami clear on the chin, sending her stumbling wildly backwards to the other side of the room, where she falls to her knees again.

: Covering a swollen left eye and raising her other hand to feel her right eye, and her scar beneath it, Manami is in tears and breathing raggedly. She's bleeding from the bottom lip and a bit of blood falls to the floor as she meekly speaks. "Stop... stop... stop! I'm sorry!" She lowers her body, lowering her head to the floor, hands still holding her face. "I'm sorry..." Even for an explosive beatdown, Manami seems overwhelmed. Her arms are shaking. The other girls stare at Tsukiyo with clear hesitation, nobody daring to raise a hand or a weapon. Nobody will help Manami, either. Tsukiyo can feel a certain power building...

Hound and Raccoon

"Arf?!?!" The Shield Guardian is stunned as his entire world comes crashing down! Is he really a bad boy?! Aren't all Dogs good boys!? If he's a bad boy, what use is morality? Is he freed from the constraints of living nobly, or should he redouble his efforts to become a good boy again? Can he really keep living like this... he falls to his knees and lowers his head, ears covered as he brings his paws to the sides of his head.

The Catillery Guard and the Pug Knights fire upon your boat with multiple bolts, lobbed elemental discharges and thrown battle axes the size of the dogs themselves. Your group takes cover and hops aboard the rafts, which immediately widen a bit in response to their being so many of you getting close to them. Once everybody is aboard a quick stability is achieved and somebody cuts the lines. You rocket down the riverway heading south and shortly hug a gradual curve, a bit of rest awarded to you for escaping the alerted Forest Guard.

You may benefit from a Short Rest. Regain Encounters, Spend Surges.

: "Get anything good?" Caitte chuckles and crosses his arms, leaning against Raccoon's belly. Raccoon is wiping tons of flop sweat from his forehead with a small towel. "Ya know, this is one of my favorite parts coming up." The curve of the river eventually levels out and you're now heading downhill at a steady clip, due East. The terrain ahead of you suggests a great set of sunken towers, but the foliage around you seems to be unending walls of green. It would be crazy to get off, as there'd be nowhere to go. Seems the game wants you to stick to the rafts.

The water itself is cool and pleasant and falling in would have no adverse effects, other than being submerged. You can move normally through the water so long as you can swim(Athletics DC 18!) You hear Hound and Felix break their polite conversation to gasp over party chat as several things begin rocketing down the water, coming from the West. The three Pug Knights surge towards you in barrels, pumping their axes overhead with great bravado! With a magnificent *HONK* a large waterfowl charges out of the overgrowth! He buckles, lunges and flops down with a splash into the water between the hounds, glaring at your group! A lone Catillery sits atop the menacing Dire Goose, revving up his bolter! Seems the Forest Guard doesn't give up easily...

"So we've missed math and history already..." Akio stares blankly at his phone and breaks out into a cold sweat. "I guess we're actually doing this then, there's no turning back..." Oh god, he felt like such a piece of poo poo. How casually he had abandoned his sacred duties... "You think there's a chance no one will notice?" He looks at Noriko hopefully, wanting to believe it. "I guess neither of us stand out that much, maybe we'll luck out..." He lets out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding.

"Um, well..." Akio fidgets sheepishly. "By now my house should be empty... It's an option, but maybe you'd rather not..."

Ambrose // Hound and Raccoon

"What is this nonsense..." Ambrose observes the buffoon brigade rapidly approach the rafts with his arms crossed. "Well, if they want to perish that badly, who are we to deny them." His form flickers and fades, blinking forward into the rushing waters, reappearing with his sword in his hand and putting a hole in the nearby dog and his barrel. He follows up by facing the goose and carving a swathe in the air, summoning forth a blue crescent projectile of arcane magic that just barely sails over the catillerist's head. "Hmph, let's try that again. Zionga!" Heeding his summons, Mucalinda leaps out of the water with a splash and hisses at the cat as she calls down a lethal bolt of lightning right on top of it.

"Much better." Ambrose effortlessly stays afloat in the river and gestures with his hand at the massive bird and the nearby pug, marking them both.

Bathroom Brawl

: Manami peers up at Tsukiyo, eyes narrowing as she studies her. Disbelief, maybe. Distrust. Paranoia. Shock. Awe? Akio teleports into the fray and begins dealing damage and slowing up the advance of the hounds, and Noriko infuses all of the goons with notions of buffoonery, clouding their killing edge. In response to each action laid upon it, the Dire Goose honks in anger. *HONK! HONK! HONK!*

Sizing up his anserinine target, .attak leaps off the raft with a distinct lack of grace. Unfortunately, he doesn't make it terribly far, coming up short of his intended target. "Ah, yeah, of course... I'll look after before we enter to be sure." Akio replies. "Okay, uh, from here I think the quickest way is to grab the train, it's just a few minutes walk from the station."

A short train ride later...

Upscale and tranquil are probably the two words that best describe Akio's neighborhood. Or maybe a better fit, depending on one's disposition, would be snobbish and dull. Akio was leaning towards the latter, but he couldn't deny it was a pretty sweet place to live. It was almost jarring how much space the greenery was allowed to occupy in a supposedly built-up area, at least to a city boy like him, and while it wasn't kept as perfectly immaculate as the Naoki School grounds it was clear that a lot of care, or more likely money, was spent to keep things neat.

After cutting through the park adjacent to the train station and then walking for a few hundred meters down the sidewalk, the two of them arrive outside the Yamamura residence.



Akio goes ahead to make sure that no one was home, then returns to Noriko. "That's a relief, looks like we'll have the place to ourselves after all..." He shows her to the front door. He fumbles nervously with the keys for a moment before unlocking the door, turning the handle and holding it open for Noriko. "Heh, still haven't gotten used to these locks... Uh, welcome. My room is up the stairs on the left. We should probably perform the ritual there, but feel free to look around."

Akio's room, much like the rest of the house, is sparsely decorated. While it could be taken as an intentional choice, it's pretty obvious the main reason is that they've moved in only recently, there's even a few moving boxes stacked up in the corner near the closet in his room. The walls are all white and there's one window near his neatly made bed, framed by heavy blackout curtains on either side. Then there's the wide desk where his computer sits of course, an expensive home-built setup with several monitors and a wireless VR headset, but its not turned on at the moment. Adjacent to the desk there's a bookcase filled with about equal parts fact and fiction, carefully sorted by subject and author, but there's also several piles of books strewn haphazardly across the room. Beyond that, there's not much else of note. The middle of the room is empty without even a carpet to cover the wood flooring, at least it'd prove a good open space for conducting a ritual.

"Um, sorry, I haven't had any guests here before!" He hurriedly drops his bag by his bed and starts cleaning the room, though it is already pretty tidy?... "So, ah, you've done rituals before right? You should take the lead, just tell me what to do."

Takashi - Movie Night With Senpai

: Akane pouts a bit before giggling. "Gosh, you're always so cool, huh? It's almost really annoying!" She smirks. "I guess like attracts like, huh." She beams when you compliment her companion. She gestures down to him with only the finest very matter-of-fact smile, clearly proud! "Hey, don't think you've won yet. This is Mitsuo... and he's the man of the house! If this guy doesn't like you, then... Mitsuo! No! Don't make it so easy!" The regal Akita has stepped forward at the prompting of his name and the gestures and quickly sniffs Takashi's hand. He gives it a friendly warm lick and then affectionately seizes his wrist in his mouth, not at all damaging the skin. He pulls Takashi slightly to the side to face forward.

: "Akane, this will be a meddle-free evening." Takano has shown up, holding the door open to let Akane and Mitsuo retreat inside as Akane tries to watch over her shoulder for as long as she can... the elder Hattori is dressed in a simple yet elegant fluffy sundress of a subdued royal blue. Despite the traditional features of a school uniform, this is definitely the most feminine you've ever seen her. She favors you with a joyful smile and gestures to your waiting driver. "Shall we?"

... Later, at the theater, you're enjoying the 2 hour masterpiece of comedy, action, chivalry and romance. Boy, those Dragon Quest guys really know how to work it all together! You've had pleasant conversation on the drive to, and filing into the theater, but Senpai seems rather focused on the film. Her permanent business-face rises and drops with the emotions presented on screen. Perhaps this is a chance-u...

Hound and Raccoon
Music

(Everybody is up, next Round Friday Afternoon!)

Caitte and Raccoon move up, Caitte casting thrown stones at two of the Pug Knights within range(Ignore Third Roll, Error Made) for 9 and 11 Damage and Push 1, the stones glowing with swirling arcane sparks mid-flight before accelerating to critical mass. Raccoon summons his Spirit Companion(White Pog Outline), a giant ghostly raccoon in a totem style. He uses Sly Fox Spirit, which allows Takashi to make a MBA as a Free Action. If he hits, Akio may do the same. (These take place during your turn and are used as Free Actions.) From behind you can hear a big idiot beating his belly like a drum and when somebody is unfortunate enough to look, he flashes a giant thumbs up.

When attacking, the Pugs resist Noriko's tricks. The Goose falls for them hook, line and sinker and unleashes its building wrath upon one of the hounds of Noriko's choice(28 meets Pug Knight AC.) It will deal 42 Damage to I-2(Noriko's choice.) The Pug afflicted by migraines fails his save to repel them. The Pugs try to surge forward but find themselves feeling a bit tired. The one already in the fray Shifts around the ominous Raccoon-Dog spirit, feeling that it is morbidly related to him somehow. The Pugs at range heave their axes and toss them in over-head arches that rise in spikes and fall, easily evaded. The Pug that manages to close to Ambrose leans in to body-slam him but is also easily evaded. It seems these boys... are all bark.

SLAM! The rafts are jostled together and forced to move evenly as another Dire Goose emerges, paddling up the river and honking ferociously! It seems to be angry. A pair of Catillery stand ready to fire!

The dog pushes him self off against the bottom of the riverbed, gaining enough air to come barreling down the goose with force! Sadly, he doesn't find his mark, but still manages to drive the goose's head back into the water, lining him up for more punishment!
