I have caught up to date on all the tv and movies that i wanted to watch. Please recommend me what to watch next (I only like things that are good).

If I have already seen it and it is good, I will recommend you something else good in return. If i have already seen it and it is bad i will write a short review of why it is bad.

EDIT: I've got plenty to watch now, thanks GBS. Maybe if you still want to post in this thread it could be a "if you liked X then you will also like Y" kind of thing.

The Man in the High Tower is good if you don't mind a bit slower paced series.

Boring as poo poo and put me to sleep. D.J Qualls is better in Z Nation.

have you ever seen deadwood?

Yes and it is great. I watched the whole thing through once, and then a second time with a friend. I recommend the 2010 remake of Romero's "The Crazies" for you, because Timothy Oliphant.

I like coppers. You should check it out. It is set in gangs of new york era five points. :waycool: Also there's LOTS of whoring involved. Cis only I'm afraid but still.

Orange is the new black has a new season out if you enjoy being depressed.

Actually tv is really good at the moment so just watch whatever, itll prolly be good. As long as you don't stoop to sitcoms.

Not seen Coppers, but agree with you on OITNB, since you like depressing and / or period stuff, you should watch Peaky Blinders

happy valley and party down are two good shows that nobody watched for some reason

Added party down to list, based on the trailer I'd recommend Silicon Valley, but you're probably already watching it.

Edit: oh. I almost forgot. I thought wayward pines was really good. It's got a little twin peaks/stepford wives vibe goin' but the narrative is a lot more like the x files.

If you like wayward pines (s1 was good but I cant get into s2 at all) then you'll probably also like 11.22.63

The last season of the wire is shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. It plays out like self insertion fan fic.

If you like self insertion fan fic, Mr Robot is like if 4Chan tried to rewrite fight club.

gently caress, a lot of show to get through now.

Killjoys and Braindead.

Killjoys is OK, but it's really just filler until next season of The Expanse. Tech-noir is better without the camp.

Braindead though, easily the best new show this year, everyone should watch it:
Spoilers, but worth it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfLNwndVfKM

There's going to be 12 different songs like that.

You should watch the movie How I Won the War

Have not seen, but looks good, I recommend the original Kelly's heroes, or Catch 22.

Funky See Funky Do posted:

You should watch Fright Night because God knows I never will.

Original or remake? If remake you should watch In Bruges, the film in which Colin Farrell redeems himself as an actor.
If original, then you should watch House (the 80's movie, not House M.D)

Crazy Ex Girlfriend went up on Netflix the other day

I really liked her old youtube stuff (I steal pets, gently caress me Ray Bradbury etc.) but the show falls kinda flat for me, guess Im note really into broadway, I prefer my musical comedy more like Garfunkle and Oates, or Flight of the Conchords.

It's pretty good and the gay cop in the show is now in real-life prison for murder.

Watch Luther, or as I like to call it "DCI Stringer Bell"

Benny the Snake posted:

Daredevil. Kickass and hardboiled superhero show.

Not really into superhero stuff, but this and Jessica Jones are OK. You should watch Special (2006)

Trojan.exe posted:

Have you watched Borgia on Netflix yet? There are two shows, "The Borgias" and "Borgia" and the latter is definitely the better and more historically accurate of the two. It's not as well known but is certainly worth one's time to watch.

Haven't seen. Added to list.

Professor Shark posted:

HBO did a couple seasons of Philip Marlowe in the 90's that were pretty great, I think you'll have to download them since HBO pretends they don't exist, but I would recommend that.

Or Bored to Death, which is a comedy based on Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlowe, and is pretty great. Same dead, though, it's hard to find for some reason.

If you liked Bored to Death, you will probably like "the Unusuals"

Was amazed to see it back for another season recently. Watch Spaced if you haven't.

A good show. Hard sci fi is the best sci fi. Watch Ex Machina if you haven't, and if you've seen that already, try it's B grade but still good cousin "Uncanny"

The Knick is fun for a season, then a bit poo poo for half a season, then fun again. Cocaine fueled experimental surgery with anachronistic John Carpenteresque soundtrack.

Yeah the Knick was like that. You should watch a Clive Owen double feature: Children of Men, followed immediately by Shoot Em Up, which is like Children of Men meets Bugs Bunny. Or, for more crazy doctor action, the UK miniseries Jekyll is pretty good.

Bojack Horseman is like an animated Mad Men, except better

I have not watched Mad Men, but I did like Bojack Horseman a lot once it got going. Incredible cast and so many cameos. Since I already recommended Monkey Dust to someone else, for you I recommend the Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, just because it's nice to see Will Arnett and David Cross together again. This is assuming you've seen Arrested Development, of course.

Yes, Expanse is good. Read the thread for previous recommendation based on this, Or for the same reasons, you should watch Moon, and if you've seen Moon, watch Air.

Watch Day Break, because it's like Lost, 24 and Groundhog Day had a baby, and that baby was Taye Diggs. It's also only one season.

Never heard of it. Added to list, thanks. I had to look up Taye Diggs. He was in an episode of Better Off Ted, which was a very funny show, but nothing like Lost or 24.

I've got plenty to watch now, thanks GBS. Maybe if you still want to post in this thread it could be a "if you liked X then you will also like Y" kind of thing.
