I bet the the fact Kariu came to school sick on the first day ends up being an excuse around the recent chapter's techno-babble. Something like her cold intermixed with the viruses and damaged their effectiveness, or it keyed up everyone's immune systems and the virus never took hold. I mean what they have is so flimsy, any excuse is now acceptable, but that would at least be a callback.

This reveal actually makes things a lot easier. Now that we know that the company isn't evil, but simply lacks the means to stop the memory loss they should: - Make an exception for the "if anyone finds out about the project, youre immediately disqualified" and tell them the truth. No need to let them stay miserable for the last few months - Allow them to keep records: Diaries, messaging history, video messages... etc - Tell them to watch Isshuukan Friends for hints on how to reestablish a relationship after memory loss

At least the memory thing doesn't involve the government kidnapping everyone who ever had contact with them and subjecting them to Clockwork Orange stuff. Meanwhile, in story news: I think Yoake is about to go off the reservation.

I think Captain Invictus is speaking of the end in broader terms. The series has been in a relative period of denouement for the last few chapters without really hitting upon anything new, midichlorians aside.

Honestly I feel like it would be more in character for Hishiro to have meticulous notes on the MC (phone number, address) to follow up on. Because if she forgets him, that confirms he's in the Relife program too. It's An's job to clean up that evidence, so she can simply choose not to.
