Some animals are just plain cool. For instance, the almighty mantis shrimp!  Peacock mantis shrimp; smasher variety. So why is this little guy so special? A few reasons, Number one: Ounce for ounce, they pack the strongest punch in the animal kingdom. They throw punches really fast and really hard relative to their size, akin to the force of a .22 bullet. Also have been known to shatter aquarium glass! Number two: They also have the most complex/best eyes in the animal kingdom. They can see in all directions, and perhaps sense colors we cannot! This makes it a very perceptible predator to be reckoned with! Number three: Though the fastest punchers come from the smashers (the peacock shrimp above), there is a second type of mantis shrimp; spearers. Instead of blunt appendages, they have sharp claws used to impale and rip apart prey. They travel a little slower then their blunt cousins and have a different diet, usually small fleshy shrimps opposed to crabs, spearers do keep up with the tempo.  Zebra mantis shrimp; spear variety. I was just out walking my dog (who is a big fuckin dork and not applicable to this thread) when I inhaled a moth and it got plastered to the back of my uvula. It was stuck there for about half an hour and no amount of eating and drinking and gargling would bust it loose. I finally scraped it down with some barbecue chips. Anyway, that moth was pretty cool.
