 Statecraft is a game about politics. Build a political party in a familiar but fictional world, recruiting politicians to your cause, developing your manifesto of support winning ideas, campaigning for the support of the public and firing off salvos of slander and sabotage at your cunning rivals, and surviving catastrophic events that shake up the nation you’re playing the game of politics in. Each game of Statecraft starts off with selecting a scenario, which represents the current events of a fictional nation, and with players selecting their political party’s leader, who’ll form the central character of your party’s team. Players then manage their cards to carry out a series of political ‘manoeuvers’ during their turn, whether spending cards recruiting new politicians to their party, using cards announcing new policies with their newly minted team members, campaigning for the support of a key demographic or dialing their favorite cable news network to divulge some damaging slander about their opponent. It is a lot of work getting the infrastructure set up so that I can easily handle everything in the future. Alright folks, you should have your starting hands of Policy/Action cards now. As this is our collective first time through the game, we're just going to be playing through the most basic scenario (though still using the full advanced rules found in the latter half of the rulebook). That means that our scenario card is:  (your first task as a legislative body is to name the [blank] Republic of [blank]) The game ends when each player has had 8 turns. The winner is the player with the most supporters. The floating supporters pool contains 6 supporters. You will draw 3 politicians when recruiting politicians. The play order, as listed in the OP, will be: 1. Valhawk 2. PBS Newshour 3. Viscardus 4. CirclMastr 5. Fat Turkey The players have been assigned their faction leaders and have had their player boards setup. Everyone has drawn three cards from the Policies/Actions deck. I have shuffled one third of the Events/Emergency cards into the Policies/Actions deck for a Normal Game setup. It's perfectly fine to do either provided you keep up with the thread diligently. I'd recommend people preload actions via PM if they're going to, though, as occasionally events or actions will have effects on any future turns, thanks in advance~ You discarded:  You're choosing a politician. I will be posting cards as they are discarded or played, btw. I haven't done it yet because I'm throwing together a spreadsheet with everything on it for reference, but as soon as I have all the cards transposed over to that it'll be more easily available.

Okay, well, first of all, there's nothing preventing me from immediately claiming the Government Employees supporter card, is there? If not, I'll go ahead and do that. Then I'll discard Annual Road Maintenance to recruit a new politician. Regardless of who I pick, I will then announce Performance Based Pay as a new policy (placing it under my leader unless it can also be played on the politician I end up recruiting, in which case I'll decide afterwards). I will then play Political Rotation as an Action. I'll do the rest of my turn after seeing the new cards I end up with.

The way my Right Honourable friend Viscardus rushes into party recruitment and policy announcement without knowing the full outcomes is typical of his party's approach to politics. They are trying to win over the public sector workers with no idea what is coming up next, they don't even have their new man/woman warm in their seat without assigning a policy to their name! And their Performance Based Pay policy is just a fancy name for ensuring our 'best 1% in our society get everything they deserve'. But I have great faith in the public to see through this farce and vote accordingly. We will of course be announcing our own, well-researched and excellently executed policies in our party conference later this week, where cake and balloons will be available for all journalists covering the event.
