Why is everyone assuming there will be preorders? The NES Classic didn't have any did it? I remember you had to show up the store in the morning of the release. After that, sometimes they would show up online.

Supercar Gautier posted:Keep in mind, if there's a SNES game you wish were on the system, it's going to be incredibly easy to hack it on there. I'm not into the whole "put 700 games from 12 systems on it" scene, but if you just want to add Chrono Trigger and DKC2 or whatever, you can do it so seamlessly they'll look like they were built into the system all along. Unless Nintendo learned their lesson and did something to make the new one harder to hack.

US orders will go on sale Sept 29 when the stores open. If there are any preorders, they will be limited in scope. I heard this from my Uncle.

There is no need for a N64 classic. It's already made. You just have to buy an Xbox to play it.

My old roommates heroin addicted brother sold my SNES. We didn't realize what was going on with him and drugs so it wasn't a big deal to let him bring it downstairs to his apartment. Never saw it again. I really liked my SNES, when I look back at it.

I got my SNES classic early. I played it for 30 minutes and wasn't impressed. All these games are old and have bad graphics. Sold it on craigslist for $500 in less than 30 minutes.

It's not actually coming out in America. Nintendo hates America because we are constantly trying to tell them how to properly run their business. It's disrespectful of us to ask them to sell preorders on their actual web site. Or to produce enough to meet demand. In other words, Americans have unrealistic expectations.

There was no reason for Walmart to cancel the preorders. All they had to do was wait for shipment to arrive, then send them to the people who ordered. If they didn't have enough then they could apologize. But cancelling in advance for no reason? Bad form.

Won't make a difference. All preorders and day one systems will be gone immeidately. 10% will be on the secondary market for 3x retail.

Supercar Gautier posted:It's a situation where the seemingly "obsessive" way to get the system (lining up for a couple of hours at your local store) is actually the most casual and low-effort way. I have no idea how much work it would have taken to get a NES Classic if I hadn't just shown up at EBgames a couple hours before opening. It was easy if you set up alerts. Unless for some reason you can't click things on your phone for 30 seconds, of course. But 99% of people have their phone on them at all times and have the ability to click it a few times. For those people, alerts = nes classic.

Nullsmack posted:More like 90% will be scooped up by scum of the earth scalpers and resold to the people that actually want them for 3-5x retail. No. Scalpers get very few in comparison to the general populace. If there were 1 million NES classics sold in the US (there were actually more) do you really think 900,000 were sold by scalpers? 100,000 would be 10%. So let's get serious. Very few actually get scalped. It just seems like a lot because it is so easy to find them on the secondary market.

GreatGreen posted:If you take an NES Classic and do the standard hakchi2 thing where you add a bunch more games to the system, does that change anything fundamental about the NES Classic's system itself, like the specific emulator used or anything like that? You can just add games to it with no changes. It is seamless. I don't think you can do 700 this way, though.
