i really like the undead. they're all trying so hard and giving great performances considering the whole thing was filmed over a weekend in an empty grocery store. i watch it every halloween.

I like it a lot too. Everyone is putting their all into it and I love the ending.

Did the tree contribute money to the film? Why are they showing this?

John Murdoch posted:*executioner chops off her head and it falls into the basket* AND they go from wildly and happily cheering right until the moment the axe hits to suddenly being horrified. That scene, like many other things in The Undead, makes no loving sense. At the same time, I loving love The Undead. It's the best kind of bad movie, where the movie itself is so janky that it would be hilarious to watch as a pure movie, and the riffs are also top notch. Definitely in my top 5 episodes.

I cannot say if the The Undead is bad because I am bewitched, I cannot tell the difference between a flop and a flip

I think the interesting part of The Undead for me is it treats past life hypnosis stuff like actual time travel- the characters physically go back to where they were and can influence events and so on. Come to think of it Santo and the Treasure of Dracula does something similar.

My absolute favorite is when male “protagonist” goes into the past to get the woman to return to her future life instead of remaining in the past, only to shout “STAY!” at her during the “debate” which ensues.

Come to think of it Santo and the Treasure of Dracula does something similar. That's why Actual Literal Satan showing up helps tie it all together! This guy has somehow tapped into genuine magic, really throwing the woman back in time into her previous life and Satan is like "drat, I gotta watch this." Plus there's something delightful about the hypnotist being the real villain in a story that has Actual Literal Satan From The Bible.

Just finished War of the Colossal Beast. I came up with my own theory that the actor who played Glen/The Beast turned down the role because it was nothing but grunting and growling and no "real acting," but apparently, they never even reached out to him. As an aside, I find I sound just like the Beast every morning when I read my work e-mail

VectorSigma posted:The new and improved SAMPO!!!! Hey this is a good segue! In the Kalevala episode Joel and the bots wondered about what the Sampo is, and I can definitively answer that now: it's a machine from the Finnish national epic Kalevala that can create basically anything out of thin air. Because it's a classic thing from our national epic that is synonymous with wealth, over the years a lot of other things have taken the name into use. Like for instance... - a national bank that was later sold to a Danish banking conglomerate - a bunch of insurers, both local and national - some newspapers! - at least two ships (both ice breakers) - a light machine gun! ![]() - a Finnish technology manufacturer, which you might think had also made your TV, but apparently also... - a Taiwanese technology manufacturer, who probably made your TV. I have no idea why some Taiwanese company decided to name themselves after a thing from Finnish mythology. Anyway, there you go! SAMPO!

Can’t miss your favorite shows just because you’re a security guard!
