Apparently this was the poster for Danger: Death Ray!

That's clearly a machine gun, not a death ray. :colbert:

Still only used for peaceful purposes though, oddly enough.

Fun fact, the unrelated movie in the opening for Podpeople actually got mocked later on on Rifftrax. I haven't watched that one yet through, so I have on clue on the riff quality.

IMO, it's great. The movie itself is fun in it of itself, and the riff helps get through the slower parts. Every time the dad character comes on screen I laugh.

I'm real happy two lost KTMA episodes are available at long last because found lost media is rad as hell. Also I will never watch them because that season is horrible.

I always thought season one was (mostly) bad; until I saw one of the KTMA episodes. But you can see the great thing that did come from them; the seeds of great ideas beginning to form. Especially with even the later KTMA episodes when you can tell that some of them started to watch the films ahead of time and start planning bits out.

I've seen all of the other available KTMA episodes, and I just got done watching the two new ones. If nothing else, they're very watchable movies. Hell, I even got a little caught up in the plot of Revenge. The riffs are not there at all, but hey. And the voice of Crow on EP1 is well worth skimming through just to hear it.

The only KTMA episode I could otherwise watch from start to end was Phase IV, because that movie is great and well worth just watching straight up.

I've gone on about this in at least one other thread, but Manos would be way less clunky if they hadn't made their dubbing job as hard as possible for themselves by almost ALWAYS pointing the camera at who's talking. There are plenty of shoestring movies from that era with no location sound and something they have in common is that their most cinematically engaging scenes happen when they're trying to minimize the need for lip sync and so they put the camera anywhere but in the face of an actor delivering a line.

Like the great The Beast of Yucca Flats.

When out to some thrift stores, where I found someone had dumped their polka collection, including Daddy-O lead Dick Contino.

They had a few, but the cover sold me on this one, so I bought it. Listened to it and... yeah, it's polka. Not my thing, but still, neat to have.

Must say, after watching Wizards of the Lost Kingdom, I kind of like the Rifftrax version more. I think the pacing on the Rifftrax one is better, and more of the jokes land for me then don't. The MST3K version feels more like the riffs are cut and pasted next to each other, and don't have as much effect. For the five rapid fire jokes in a row you get with MST, you can get one good out of the Rifftrax. The one significant advantage the MST3K version has is the print is much much better (Rifftrax is a VHS copy and looks horrible), and you can watch it. The Rifftrax version got pulled (I think over rights?), so you can only watch this new version. But having said that, it's still a good episode. And the "sequel" is very much worth watching too.
