Timby posted:I imagine they're still working that out (legal clearances and the like), considering they're still adding writers and cast members and they haven't given even a vague sense of a release date (and the Netflix pickup might have given them an increased budget, too). Well, considering they've written all the riffs for the 14 experiments, I think they'll probably be released by the end of the year.

Rollersnake posted:Women of the Prehistoric Planet is a quality episode. Plus it's essential viewing for longtime fans, as it's the origin of "Hikeeba!" as well as Mike's first appearance (as the Isaac Asimov Doomsday Device). It's the movie. I think the riffing is about on par with season 1 - not as good as Robot Holocaust, but not as much as a slog as the Mad Monster.

Gaz-L posted:Yeah, I imagine that's part of the reason Joel & co went to Netflix, no specific runtime restrictions. If a movie happens to only be 55 minutes long, then the episode only has to be an hour and ten. If the film is 150 minutes, then 3 hour ep. Did you just read the latest Kickstarter update? Because that's exactly what Joel said today!

I saw the Mads last night in Austin do Glen or Glenda. By FAR, the biggest laugh was on "JUDGE YE NOT...unless you're the Lieutenant Governor of Texas."

Big Mean Jerk posted:Are they coming to Houston? I saw Alamo post about last night's event, but the actual "The Mads are Back" website doesn't have anything listed on the event calendar. Actually, my dad (who also loves MST3K) found out about it in the Austin Chronicle - if he didn't read it, we wouldn't have known.

There's also the re-releases of the original single DVDs from 2000/1 that Shout! could do. Eegah needs a new home.

Not yet, but I'd imagine we'll find out by Turkey Day. I can't imagine post-production takes super long on a show like MST3K, where most of the effects are done live.

Davros1 posted:They've done 1-3, with 4 scheduled for next month. Other than the packaging (4 discs in a single case), the contents are identical to the Rhino releases. Not exactly. Volume 1 adds a bit about the Creep Behind the Camera, and Volumes 2 & 3 add the Mystery Science Hour wraps to the episodes that had them (Cave Dwellers, Pod People, and the Unearthly). Regardless of new content, I'm buying the re-releases since I didn't get them the first time - I didn't want to give Jim Mallon all that money when he owned the rights to MST3K. My watch/rewatch (it turns out I haven't seen every episode) is close to the finish, and if I time it out right, I'll get to Diabolik the day the new experiments come out.
