IMO, it's great. The movie itself is fun in it of itself, and the riff helps get through the slower parts. Every time the dad character comes on screen I laugh.

Yeah, the works of Dan Dohler are something magical.

The entire list leaked a while ago, verified as accurate by kiimo (who works in the industry).

Reptilicus
Cry Wilderness
Time Travelers
Avalanche
The Beast of Hollow Mountain
Starcrash
The Land That Time Forgot
Hercules
Yongary
Wizards 1
Wizards 2
Carnival Magic
The Christmas That Almost Wasn’t
At the Earth’s Core

Makes sense as a lot of those, if not all, are owned by MGM, which now exists mostly to licence out the old catalog and has a great relationship with Shout.

Looks like a great list. Especially looking forward to Reptilicus, Hollow Mountain, Land that Time Forgot, and Yongary -- I love dinosaur/monster movies.

It's a really solid list with at least half the season being gold with two Luigi Cozzi films. At least I'm pretty sure it's the Lou Feringo Herc movie.

Joel hinted at it in a Kickstarter update, but it was for reaching a donation goal, I think.

Yeah, I had figured there were rights issues or tape quality ones.

That said this is some REEEAALLLLY rough going. Joel and others have never beaten around the bush or anything. So I recommend settling in with some beers or Yukon Jack. It's still great to see as a historical document to borrow from Joel and kind of makes up for the rather slim intro segments on Turkey Day. That said I understand why they had to do that.

Also MST3K Trading Cards are coming

For an example of how rough these episodes are, in Invaders From the Deep, Joel introduces himself as Joel Hodgson, there isn't anything with the Mads to start and he doesn't even have the bots on stage with him. Also the movie just runs for over 2 minutes before Joel even shows up in the theater.

Hence Yukon Jack.

It's kind of amazing how much I still have never seen of MST3K, due to an episodes movie not catching my attention.

I guess I should binge all the host only season comps on YouTube today.

At 12am Pacific episode 1 will be made available for all backers who went for at least that level. It will only be available for 24 hours and tomorrow afternoon there is going to be a scheduled simul-watch where afterwards there will be a special chat room in which Jonah and Joel will answer questions.

On Thursday anyone who backed at the level where they get a digital download of the season will have all episodes made available.

Edit: Minor correction, on Tuesday they get access to stream the season but on Thursday they get to download it.

Well poo poo I had no idea about the streaming on Tuesday. gently caress yeah.

But if you want to help out the show, you'll (also) watch it on Netflix, to improve its "ratings" and make season 12 that much more likely.

This is very true, and I'm planning on setting up a "binge' on Friday while I get things done around the house (occasionally checking to resume it from auto play).

12:01 AM PT, yeah.

So I'm a couple episodes in now. About the opening:

When the opening ended up being the same as the pilot, I was a little put off...until the joke that Kinga's liquid video tech can't record anything worth a drat so she forces Jonah to re-enact the opening bit for every episode by pulling him out of the opening host segment and putting him back on his ship to re-run it (not *all* of it, just from the spot where the song starts). I appreciated that. And while I would still prefer to have a full, uninterrupted theme over show clips, I'm guessing a theoretical season 12 would do that...and it's a good joke.

Which episode is that explained in? I'm only in the third one (counting the pilot and I was a little confused by that).

There's a neat thing I've noticed, if you have the VHX version the subtitles for certain Moon 13 breaks appear to be either from different episodes or earlier jokes that weren't used in the final version for a couple of episodes. It's weird, because others are perfectly fine. I'd assume the Netflix ones have the same subtitles and they were done by transcribing vs just using a different script submitted.

As I said earlier the problem with Tom is that Crow actually sounds like a CC era Trace a bit, Tom doesn't sound like either Josh or Kevin. It makes Tom stand out a lot more then if Crow didn't sound like Trace or Bill.

Anyone else jumping around based on what titles interest them vs in order?

Also I wish the host segments on the SOL weren't all static camera shots. Zooms now and then on some of the things would be useful.

Truth be told the biggest game changer and this applies to old MST3K EPs is the FCC rule that required closed captioning for programs airing after a certain date. A lot of crap that was hard to hear due to mushy audio is no longer an issue. Until this happened only the movie had subs.
