Clouseau posted:I'd put money down this happens at 90% of the shows, if not all of them (he did it at ours, and its a pretty hack joke for the audience to yell). Same with us yesterday, and they had script to react to it. ("It's almost like they know to yell that!"). Had a blast with No Retreat No Surrender, which somehow I'd never seen despite being in my wheelhouse. It's weird how I always consider MST3K a better concept than execution, then I'll go see it live (or to the Rifftrax MST3K reunion thing the other year which I saw in a movie theater) and I'll laugh my rear end off the entire time. Maybe it's the audience factor, and having a few beers that helps. The Mac and Me episode on Netflix was great too, I'm a real sucker for bad 80s movies which they wouln't have had access to for most of the shows run really. One thing I'm curious about, at one point during the show last night Joel left the podium and was replaced by Emily briefly, before he came back. I didn't hear any obvious reason as to why he did this, so assuming it's just part of the passing the torch thing they did at the end? I liked her during the show, so would be intrigued to see if that is how it goes for the next reincarntaion.

Antifa Turkeesian posted:Was Emily Marsh doing regular riff performing during the tour? All the stuff I read made it sound like Joel was the featured human performer. Joel had a toilet break or something, and she took over for a short chunk. She was decent I thought.

It doesn't feel like we should be hearing these countdown parts, or is that just me?

Antifa Turkeesian posted:Is Emily Marsh making those faces because of the cornball jokes in the original host segment, or are they all watching the chat? It’s hard to tell. Her faces, laughing, and dances have been my favorite part.

drrockso20 posted:So thanks to the No Context Violence twitter I discovered that there was this really weird trend in bad 80's action movies(especially for Ninja movies) to have really abrupt non endings, often happening right after or even in the middle of someone dying, and it's the most baffling thing I've ever seen, did MST3K have any movies end in such an abrupt fashion, cause if not it definitely seems like the kind of thing they should riff on Have no idea what you're talking about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvkvOfm5Vo0

Yeah Other Space is solid and I always recommend it solely because you can almost guarantee the person you’re talking to has never heard of it.

My girlfriend wanted to show me Devil Fish (s9) as there was some beer gags she always thought of whenever I open a can, and boy what version of that movie did they drag up from hell for the episode? There was two title cards and the scenes are all completely out of order and made no sense. The regular Blu-ray actually resembles a real movie in comparison.

On Letterboxd there are currently 666 reviews of Munchie, and that feels apt as I believe him to be the devil.

Loved that episode. The movie is everything I want from a riff target, as it’s batshit insane with the choices it made. For me, 80s kids and teen movies are way more my bag than 50s and 60s b movies as I didn’t grow up with them. I wish they were able to put out the No Retreat No Surrender riff they did on the live tour a few years back, it was so much fun.

exquisite tea posted:Is it true that Kickboxing Academy has never been riffed by any of the former Brains? It’s got the same exact energy of “kids movie made by a porn director” that Munchie has. Not seeing it in the Rifftrax list at least. Might have to grab this one tho, I’ve not seen it and the title sounds right up my alley!

The cut they used of Devil Fish didn’t resemble the regular version you can get on dvd at all from what I saw of it. Stuff in wildly different orders.
