I also kinda miss Everquest 2; it was my first MMO, and I suffered through playing a Defiler at launch when they were absolutely terrible.

i played the poo poo out of everquest 2 when it launched, i founded a guild and stuff on launch day and played one of the godawful priest classes (inquisitor I think) and had a ton of fun, but it died after like six months because the game was actually bad

I feel you for this one. Used to play the poo poo out of it back when it came out, wasn't bad at all. Booted up cs_office a few months back and got totally annihilated.

CS:GO sucks, i bought it when it came out cus i loved source but i was never able to enjoy GO. the community is somehow the worst source game community ever, and the ranked matchmaking and horrible cosmetics turned it into a metagame garbage fest with no communities based on actual servers, just ranks. i accidentally showed it to my friend and now he's played like 3000 hours and drove to ohio to meet up with his CS teammates once

that's pretty loving dead imo, even if there are muscle spams post mortis.

Peak fun was mowing down 32player Valpo/isle in a helicopter with a group of friends, and visa versa syncing tracers and rockets to blow up skygods. And King Carl. And running around counter sniping rookies with slug shot 870 never got old. It was fun to run up port Valdez and flank all the wookie bad snipers.

Diablo2 with the massive swarm of goons with infinite goodies to share.
WoW 10mans.
COD/MW with full on goon freight trains, having to ditch people because ground war ended early when the entire other team quit.
-MW especially when capn scraps would get stuck on the other team so you used the perk that let you listen to the other team's radio to hear him sing sweet songs to you~

and yeah, LAN parties with Total Annihilation, Janes ATF, Mech Warrior, Diablo2 progression games, Aliens vs Predator lifecycle progression like someone else said. Tactical combat between predators and marines interrupt by an alien picking people off in a corner.

Yes, Inquisitors and Defilers were both lovely no-fun-at-launch healer classes (they're both pretty boss now). The game got better over time, but the playerbase had long since hosed off by that point. I actually came back a year or two later and my server was a ghost town. I went to a more populated server and stuck around for a while; even got into a fairly successful raid guild. The devs started doing full gear/stat resets with every expansion though, and I really got tired of the perpetual gear treadmill.

I totally forgot about this game - it was a blast. A buddy of mine would get hammered whilst playing and start spamming voice chat in his best "special needs" voice. After a few nights on the same server he had actually convinced people that he was retarded, and the commander would give him whatever he asked for.

This game had one of the best sniper/environment mechanics that still isn't matched by modern games. In most games at long ranges the player model is completely visible when prone, even if that player thinks he's in a field with tall grass. Joint ops had it so the hidden portion of the player was transparent when out of the distance of grass render.

The game was legit though.

there is a mod for this game called shockwave. it is absolutely fantastic. everything you liked about that game, amp it up ten times

there is shitload of new content, new units, and a ton of faction differentiation. theres a fuckton of gimmicks and interesting strategy options added. its everything you loved about zero hour but made even better

the newest version came out 2 months ago. it's stable, voice acted and probably indistinguishable from an expansion pack.
