What I'd like to know is if they've said they'll keep pumping out new stages as DLC if the game sells well enough.

Just give me an endless stream of new, well designed, sonic levels in a decent engine without superfluous new gimmicks please.

Hmm, so i noticed if you try a special stage ring, but get a game over and have to retart the whole stage, the ring remains used up.

I take it that means you've only got a limited number of tries to get all of the chaos emeralds in a single save file?

Don't really care about DLC but It might be nice if it got a patch eventually to iron out some of the bugs at least.

DLC would be great for a game like this. It's not like it really needs an engine update.

I'd be more than happy to pay like £2 for a new stage each month.

That's funny, cuz even though Hydrocity 2 played well...I honestly thought they straight up ruined Hydrocity 1. It plays like poo poo and the boss is garbo.

Just make a legit Mania 2, half new levels and half revisits. I can think think of a bunch of zones I'd love to see get the Mania remix treatment: Hilltop, Angel Island, Mystic Cave, Ice Cap, Launch Base, Mushroom Hill, Marble Garden, Sky Sanctuary, Spring Yard, Aquatic Ruin, Casino Night (not Carnival).

And I'd cough up another 20bux for it, too.

I think there's enough for a Sonic Mania 2, probably not a Sonic Mania 3 though.

I think I'd rather just have the first 3 games remade to the same "HD" quality as Mania (and sonic 3/cd move sets).

That pretty much already happened with 1, 2 and CD. 1 and 2 just really need console and PC ports.

Where did this happen that added widescreen and 60FPS (with all the powerups and such seen in Sonic 3 onwards)?

Mania's really put me in the mood to fire up S3&K. That game was just so loving good.

I remember being super disappointed/angry with Sonic 3 when it first came out because i'd been waiting ages for it, saved up a bunch of pocket money and borrowed some more from my parents for it (~£50 in total) and grabbed a copy on launch day, only to bring it home and finsh it in about 2 hours.

Then once i plugged in Knuckes it became this whole other thing and now it's one of my favourite games of all time.

Let's be entirely fair here, those rotating stairs in the rising Mega Mack section have claimed countless lives over the years. Now a new generation gets to experience my childhood pain :v:.

I kept dying at that bit too.

Oddly enough, this was the exact reason i never owned sonic 2 as a kid. I played a friends copy and loving hated chemical plant zone.

In hindsight it's a bit weird i had sonic 1 and 3&K but never 2 (which is considered amazing).

In short, gently caress chemical plant zone. loving undewater sections.

Probably due to it being a reminder that more poo poo 3D sonic games have been made than great 2D original ones.

Sure Sonic might be stale as gently caress if we were on Sonic (2D) 20 by now like the loving mario games, but at least they've have probably been 20 good games.

the point I'm trying to make is that classic Sonic ISN'T a conceptual dead end, but if they follow the pattern of remixing the same stuff over and over and not building on it, it will be.

Like, does the next game of this nature really need a Sky Chase act? or the Hilltop Zone seesaws? or the spinning gears from Scrap Brain? Why are those even IN Titanic Monarch?

Remind me what mario game we're on now of him running sideways and doing the exact same poo poo?

New trailer for the Switch version. Shows a brief glimpse of cyberspace and some much more Sonic-y music

I really like the narrators attempts to convince the viewer that the game is speedy, fast flowing whist showing us scenes of on rail gliding, stuttery and static combat and a general lack of flow and speed.

Man the 3D games really do suck.

They should just make more manias already.

Surely it's a hell of a lot easier to build a 2D sonic than a 3D one?

loving hell, big kudos to anyone who managed to get super sonic on the original Sonic 2 on the megadrive.

Even with the ability to quickly retry it in Origins, it was incredibly frustrating.

Having a limited number of attempts to get into the special stages feels brutal, never mind clearing the first ones enough to then get enough practice on the later levels.

In sonic 3 I think the special stages rotated even if you screwed up right?

Is it likely that there's some crazy legal thing preventing from replacing the Michael Jackson tracks in sonic 3 with something that even sounds a little like them?

Carnival night zone, for example, seemed to be some remixed stereotypical carnival music,
but the new stuff is just this weird upbeat poo poo.

That being said I kinda prefer the new tracks for launch pad zone or whatever it's called. The original, while nostalgic, really didn't feel like it had anything to do with the buildup to a rocket launching.
