The convicts were only ever a problem for me if I was escorting survivors. The survivors would end up getting murdered. But if I was by myself, I could usually easily kill them.

RBA Starblade posted:Yeah, it was great. I did basically everything but 7 day survival and I think rescue all 50 survivors in one go. Dead Rising had the best demo too, it was just 2 hours in the starting area, so a good quarter of the game for free. When the whole game came out I knew exactly where to go for the more hidden stuff like the smg and katana. I always wanted to do 7 day survivor but it takes like 10 hours. I remember with survivors you'd ping them a spot to move to then just run along side them. It wasn't great but learning that trick made the game 10x easier. Also so did infinite orange juice. I remember trying to make barricades in the food court. I need to get the remake.

Useful if they get stuck behind an ankle high obstruction or a potted plant or something. Honestly I didn't play Dead Rising for the first time until after watching Oatmealraisin's playthrough, so I went in knowing a ton of strategies a first-timer typically wouldn't. Also yeah, get as many orange juices you can take from Colombian Roastmasters along with the awning katana. Katawning.

the good part about it being on PC is that it'll be trivial to set the kill counter to what you need it to be to instantly unlock genocider using cheat engine, or possibly you can get the game to believe you've done it by just using SAM i mean yeah okay it was a cool challenge when the game came out, but since it does boil down to just driving in a circle for hours i don't think there's any hxc gamer honor to be satisfied by cheating it.

By the way does the game come with all the dlc costumes? The one outfit basically made you look like the Terminator, another was a leisure suit.

I don't remember genocide taking that long. I rented the game and got it pretty quickly, maybe 30 or 45 minutes. Or maybe 19 year old me didn't value his time as highly and it actually did take hours.

Played for an hour this morning before work, saved Aaron and Burt and the two of them proceeded to not only not follow any of my waypoints, they also got in the middle of a zombie gangbang that I had to rescue them from. Then they ran to the nearest pillar and mashed their faces against it while running in place. Ahhhhhhhhh, it's good to be back

so far so good. My strategy for DR still works and this game is a cakewalk. The Convicts got stuck behind a bench and I just SMG'd them all to death. Sophie almost died tho.

Comparison of original 360 game and PS4 version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPqJfnnMrZY The text actually looks to be slightly smaller in the remaster. Totally legible on modern screens, of course.

The ps4 version of dr2:otr is not entirely stable which kind of sucks. I've had some weird framerate glitches and one full crash so far up through story mission4 or so. It's not so bad that I'd recommend against getting it, but it's certainly a bit annoying for a game they didn't even bother remastering in any major way

I swear I just leveled up quite a bit, started a new game, beelined for the parking garage, and then I just drove around for a while and it popped. It was nowhere NEAR four hours though. That said I'm looking at my achievements and I don't even have the one for killing 10K and I know for a fact I got both of those and the one for killing 10 psychopaths but that also shows as locked. However I did NOT get the marathon achievement and yet it shows as unlocked. Weird as gently caress.

Man, it's been long enough that I'd forgotten just how frustratingly tight some of those time windows are. I've just reached the morning of Day 2, the time when you have to do all of the following in like four hours game-time: -Kill Seon and get medicine -Return to the safehouse -Rescue Tonya and Ross -Save Pamela and Heather -Be back at the safehouse when Barnaby wakes up Maybe not necessarily all in that order. Tonya and Ross have to be rescued before Barnaby wakes up though, and getting them means you'll activate Heather and Pamela on your way back through Paradise Plaza. I got Heather and Ross to the elevator alive, but then I loving died to a single zombie because I had one block of health and no healing items.

I couldn't even save Ross, he just didn't want to climb the ledge to reach the safehouse, I managed to get Tonya inside after 5 minutes of setting markers but I had to put Ross down as I was in danger of failing the Medicine mission.

Back when this was on the 360 I remember playing this for ages. Eventually I completed it with a guide and a nearly perfect run where I made all the special events, even cheaped out the final boss fight by drop kicking him on the tank or something. After I unlocked the endurance mode I did spent ages on top of an awning in the park slowing sipping orange juice and stuff until I unlocked whatever the reward for that was, then promptly never played again because I'd beaten all the challenges. Great game but I don't think I have the patience to get through all that again. Recommend it to anyone fresh though. I think this was the peak for zombie games and it's been just downhill ever since.

Yeah, I got £16 from selling a pre-order item i got with total warhammer (if you pre purchased that on steam, download and load up DOTA2, you'll get a genuine warhammer thing you can sell for £20, which is about £16 after valves cut). Was really excited for this, then I remembered that when I first played this, I was "studying" for exams. I had like 8 hours of "do whatever" time a day. I'll probably still get this, but later on.
