V had seven, but three were units only (and characters for the Hathaway's Flash guys, I guess); X has four, but none are units only. As a random older example, Alpha 3 also had four. No Getter in this game means no Mazin Emperor G. I don't even care that much about Getter but man I loved the idea of that unit. Guess I'll have to settle for the super-awesome Mazinger Zero. All future games must have Mazinger Zero. Even the OG games. Especially the OG games. Unrelated. What was that Gundam series with all the weird country-themed Gundams and why isn't that in this game? They have eleventy billion gundam series in every SRW and yet not that one. Because I know it was utterly foundational but I could not give less of a poo poo about Char's Counterattack and I don't know any of the other Gundam series from Adam. Except for Turn A and Unicorn and I don't care about Turn A or Unicorn.

g was in a ton of games in the ps1/ps2 era and is also kind of clunky to fit in since you have to constantly have the characters go from/to a tournament unless you start the game halfway through the show's plot, in which case the shuffle alliance just shows up out of nowhere and you fight master asia twice which isn't exactly a strong showing.

The only tournament that people actually go to in G is the grand finals tournament in the second half of the series; the early parts of the show are Domon wandering around Earth fighting people along the way while looking for clues about Kyoji, which fits pretty nicely with your average SRW early game plot.

I've started making my way through V and a question has occured to me, does the custom bonus for a mech come specifically when all the upgrade bars are at 5 or is it just when the custom level is at 50% so you don't need to upgrade less useful stats for it? edit: Nevermind I just tested it myself and had to get all the bars to 5 even when the % was above 50 to actually get the bonus.

I don't think any game actually did G Gundam's tournament plotline, at best they make reference or joke about it. Most of the non-Shuffle Alliance tournament fighters don't appear either, except in 64, which I think had Mandala Gundam playable for reasons.
