I was hoping we'd go to Smoky Quartz's room so she could understand herself that way. Maybe it will occur to them later.

what we really learned though is that gem tech is kind of not thought through that well... between fusion rooms that collapse if a fusion splits in it, training holograms that kill the user, and the endless nightmares that can happen in Rose's room.

Speaking of Rose's room, with how the temple seems to be able to make new rooms on the fly to suit a fusion, it seems like Rose's room just gave her and now Steven more conscious control over that aspect of the temple.

I wonder if Steven will be allowed to actually age by the end of the show. Staying this unaging, unchanging child thing would be pretty at odds with the themes the show's been pushing lately.

The most bizarre part of the fandom is the part that wants Garnet to break up because they feel like she represents an unhealthy dependent relationship between Ruby and Sapphire.

I can only assume they're the worst kind of goons.

They're that couple that are literally never apart and you can't interact with one without the other also being there. Honestly if you view it like a human relationship it actually is kind of unhealthy that they're that dependant on one another for their happiness.

also i'm pretty sure those goons just want to see more angry ruby because she's entertaining

By amazing cosmic happenstance, they picked the same general time period to mark as the start of a new year.

Jasper wanted to fuse because otherwise she was going to have to fight Garnet who just got done proving she was a major threat and the rest of the gems simultaneously. And judging from how Smokey Quartz completely handed her her rear end while basically clowning around and taking nothing seriously, her vs Opal or Sardonyx or Sugilite would have gone miserably badly for her.

She didn't choose to adopt the CG's methods for no reason, she chose it because Garnet just got done using those methods to kick her rear end and she was out of options.

I thought it was interesting that Steven's phone couldn't record anything in Rose's Room. It was all just void to modern technology

Which I guess means Steven was a natural light on his own, but I think that's something we can let slide.

At one point I assumed it had to be all holograms and sound because Steven and Connie could see and hear it all and doing it matrix style by feeding information directly to the brain seemed unlikely to be something gem tech would be able to do to humans or half-gems. Now I'm thinking it's more matrix and Rose just designed it to be able to work on humans.

If what Navy said about herself was true, that she literally couldn't get angry, she may turn out to be one of the more dangerous adversaries the Crystal Gems have. All their other enemies have been known to get angry, which causes them to make mistakes, however if Navy truly cannot get angry, she may have the ability to be completely clearheaded at all times, never missing the obvious in her rage. I can see her even being kinda condescending about it, like "Eyeball, Chill he's obviously not Rose. Look at him! Organic through and through..."

Someone who can never be anything but constantly cheery is very, very dangerous. If that's the case then she's basically incapable of feeling guilt, which...basically means she's pretty drat close to a sociopath. Our Ruby gets mad real easy, but we've actually seen her be things other than mad. Navy though, we've never seen her in any state but her cheerful self.

Also, at the start when she dove at Steven and then it turned out she wanted to stay on earth? I think she made that up on the spot. I think maybe she really was going for an attack, then made up a lie when he bubbled to stop her.

And it is abundant on planets that have life on them which is perfect for gem seeding as the gems will have plenty of energy to siphon off.

Thats my spergy explanation.

Gems might not need air but it might just come with the territory of being gems

That's a perfectly good explanation. Gems are made on planets with life bearing atmospheres despite not actually needing to breathe themselves, so when they make a spaceship they fill it up with said atmosphere. It's what they have lying around.

Of course they also stiffed me on my checks so I quit, so Doug's company might be slightly better set up.

Just played catchup from about mid season 4. Forgot just how great this show is at building an interesting universe. (haw) Rad we're seeing homeworld finally...sorta? Also, wow a lot of new gems in a very short time!

Is there much explanation for how gem colour relates to things? Cut seems to relate to role/task, but we've seen some cuts with multiple colours (pearl) - with how many blue gems blue diamond has under here I was thinking that colours might be organized by diamond, but I'm second guessing it with green-colour gems not really fitting in?

Jasper is orange and Amethyst is purple despite being made on Pink Diamond's colony. Pearls seem like they were specifically made for a specific gem, so they probably deliberately mirror the colour of their owner while regular gems are just like, whatever colour their gem usually is in nature.

Quartzes are soldiers, so it seems as though Homeworld was mass producing them on Earth for whatever reason. And then stuck a ton of Amethysts and related gems on some nowhere space station for some reason, so they couldn't have needed them that badly.

oh

Maybe making the Cluster was the plan from the start. Make a shitload of soldier gems, smash them all up and make a Cluster that was comprised entirely of loyal, powerful soldiers. Like, a GIGANTIC quartz soldier.

On the off colours being able to pilot spaceships and be awesome space rebels so quickly: Given how gems are made, it's entirely possible they're created with the basics of how to perform their function in gem society. Plus caterpillar grandma is a fusion of a whole bunch of gems, who knows what kind of skills she's managed to inherit from them.
