Chapter 0: Get Lost

The storm appeared out of nowhere. No ordinary meteorology could have predicted it. First dark clouds appeared out of the sky with lightning flashing within. The storm clouds seemed to grow as if they were pushing through a doorway. The winds began to pick up speed and lightning began to shoot out of the cloud. Thunder cracked offering up a aural menace to the storm. Little rain fell from the storm as the winds began to move in a circular pattern around the clouds. Anyone looking at the strange cloud formation might be forgiven if they thought it was some kind of anomalous hurricane. Just as the storm stopped growing, it moved. It laid waste to everything in its path. Whether by the strong winds or lightning, the storm wreaked havoc as it moved across the land. Those unfortunate who could not escape the storm found themselves carried off by the winds and into the storm itself. They lost sight of everything except the blackness of the storm and heard nothing but the winds of the storm.. And even though the storm's fury showed no mercy to the landscape those picked up by the storm found themselves unharmed.

After being carried by the winds for what seemed like forever, the clouds began to lighten up. The wind died off and the storm began to shrink. While the storm died down, those within the storm found themselves falling down. Bracing for impact, they hit water and begin to sink. They find themselves immersed in warm salty water. Bouncing up to the surface, their eyes adjust to sunny cloudless sky above them. Looking around, they see that they are in a sea or ocean and there's a beach.

The beach appears to have littered with trash, but on second glance it appears that what's on the beach is flotsam being washed in from the sea. Looking landward, beyond the beach about one hundred feet back there are palm trees and various green bushes. It becomes apparent that the only signs of civilization is in the debris washing up on shore.

Welcome to the "Game of Worlds" game thread. This thread is for Team A, Team B aka "Sturm Und Drang" will be going up later. I'm running this game as same as I run my other games. Here's what you need to know before you post.

General rules for this game are as follows:

Post format:
Name - Location

In game text.

actions and rules stuff

Out of character posts can either be regular text without a name tag or in italics. If I need stat blocks, then use either [pre] or [super] tags. As long as things are fairly easy to read, I'm good.

I need people to be fairly consistent posters. I'd rather not have to repeatedly prompt people to post. If something comes up, just let me know and I'll work around it. If the game isn't working out for you or if there's some reason you want to drop, please let me know. If its a non-game related problem, I can work around it or at the very least make sure it doesn't impact the other players too much. If the problem involves the game itself, then I'll do what I can to resolve the problem.
The recruitment thread is here.

The characters start in the shallow waters off of a beach somewhere in the south pacific. Equipment and health are exempt from damage until they reach the shore.

Here is the list of Characters - Players:

Naomi Aoshima - GTD Aquitaine
Jeff Florence - Fraction Jackson
Irina Vasilieva - Axe-man
Courtney D'Arvent - Davin Valkri
Miles Sauer - A Velociraptor!
Azure Lemaire - Platonicsolid
Hector the Weasel - paradoxGentleman

Any and all comments, questions, or commentary can be posted in the Recruitment Thread.

Unknown beach

As the group assembled on shore, they looked around and saw that the storm didn't just bring them here, it also brought familiar debris. Irina sees bits and pieces of her plane. The storm tore it apart and no doubt part of it lies beneath the waves, but some of it seems to have washed into shore. Some of the more buoyant parts managed to avoid the burial at sea. Further down the beach, she even sees part of the wing of her aircraft. Irina also sees bits and pieces of something that remind her of an aircraft, but not one with which she's familiar. Azure sees both pieces from the aircraft she was on and pieces of some other aircraft of unknown make. The majority of the aircraft she was one, doesn't appear to have made it to shore. Some of the plastic and emergency flotation seat cushions. One or two pieces of luggage appear to have washed up on shore as well.

When Hector makes his way to shore, he sees other strange things besides the floating furniture. He spots metal that floats like wood. Also he sees unusual objects with unknown functions. Among the man created debris, he also sees tree branches of the kind he is more familiar with floating about.

Miles, focused on making it to shore, ignores the strange debris since other matters were more immediate. The others meanwhile see debris from strange planes along with what appears to be other wreckage. Some of the wreckage appears familiar to them, while other pieces are strange. Courtney sees a chair like one from the interrogation room they were in. Naomi happens to spot a fender from a well known type of vehicle seen in Michigan City laying on the beach. Jeff spots a handful of CDs on the shore as well.

The voice Hector hears in his head sends him back to education he received from Grandmother Toadstool. She told the young man about the strange things that were said to inhabit the edges of the world in the far out of the way places. Things that could speak in your head were few and they stood out to him. Spirits with no bodies, ghosts, and even very powerful wizards could do such feats. And then there were even more powerful entities that could do such a thing, but it couldn't be one of those. Such things were merely legend, or so he thought.

Besides the stuff listed above, characters can go looking through the debris on land will require a scrounging check (default for scrounging is per-4). Also anyone doing that should give me a general idea of what they're looking for. Scrounging on land will take up to a half hour.

If anyone wants to search the water, then there will be another scrounging check. A strong success (like five below skill number) will mean the character found something in the shallows. Just a success means the character will find something, but they will have to swim out to find it (and have to make a swim roll).

And if anyone does start scrounging, they can do a perception check to see if they spot anything of interest.

Unknown beach sans Tiki Bar

Irina looks around at the debris on the shore and in the shallow waters, but she finds nothing of use. Naomi manages to have better luck a short ways off in the water is a plastic container of some sort floating in the water. It might be luggage of some sort. Naomi also notices that the only man made debris around seems to be brought with the group here from their worlds. As far as she can tell none of the man made debris is native to this world. Courtney meanwhile looks around trying to find evidence of other people. All that they find is a small trail leading into the jungle. Probably a game trail used by animals, but there's no telling what kind of animals. Miles looks around at the debris scattered on the shore and in the water, most of its foreign to him. The scene resembles the aftermath of a very bad storm. Azure scans the area, but fails to find any human minds other than the ones next to her.

What has been found is on or near the shore. The luggage Naomi spots is bobbing up and down in the shallows. If there is anything else of interest in the water, it is far enough away to require swimming checks.

Beach

As Naomi and Azure bring the box ashore, Azure recognizes it as something from her world. The box contained bags of salty snacks for airplane passengers. Apparently the box was buoyant, so it didn't sink to the bottom with the rest of the plane.

The plastic chest contains forty packets of some kind of salty snack served on planes in Azure's world (I'll let PS describe them). Without the plastic container, they can be easily carried by the group with no affect on encumbrance.

Leaving the Beach

The group gathers their stuff up and prepares to hike into the jungle.

Some basic information (probably from Hector) about survival. First off sunset is about 8pm. Since there are people with the survival skill, setting up a camp only takes a half hour.

Now for the hiking, I'll need everyone's Move and what encumbrance they're at currently. The slowest person in the group will determine the speed of the group. The group will move slower if time is spent foraging along the way. After the hike is done, FP will be spent.

When the group decides to find a camp, then everyone needs to roll survival -2 (and if no one has jungle or island survival another -2 on top of that). This will determine what kind of campsite is found (I'm using the rules in Dungeon Fantasy: Wilderness Adventures for rules). After finding a good campsite (failing to), the group will then have to build a shelter. That would be a survival check (with a -2 if no one has jungle survival). When I know the results of rolls, I'll post what the group gets. Worst case scenario involves FP loss and penalties.

Jungle

The group begins to follow the game trail into the jungle. Shortly into the jaunt, Hector finds an empty space among the trees just off the game trail. It looks as though it would be a good spot to set up camp. However, there does not appear to be any sources of water around the area.

Hector found a decent spot to set up camp. Its not too far from the beach either. The group can either set up camp here or keep going and find a camp site later on (or come back to this one if they want). If the group set up camp here, then they can pick two out of three options from below:

1) Comfort: Not choosing this means everybody gets cold, wet, bitten by bugs, a lumpy night’s sleep, etc., and is down 1 FP (2 FP in arctic or mountain terrain), cumulative over multiple nights. To recover these FP, the party must spend a night at a campsite that does offer this benefit, or in town.
Campers without even rudimentary sleeping arrangements – bedrolls, furs (in arctic terrain), the Fur advantage, or animal Allies of larger SM (tiger pillow, boo-yah!) – must “spend” two benefits to claim comfort.

2) Concealment: Per Wilderness Camps (Dungeons, p. 5), a wellhidden camp can grant a second chance to detect night visitors. Choosing this benefit gives -1 to the raiders’ Vision roll and +1 to the party’s Camouflage roll in the Quick Contest.

3)Lines of Sight: Choosing this benefit means that enemies must approach over open ground, giving the party +1 to the Perception or Observation rolls under Camping and Posting Watches (Dungeons, p. 5). If the intruders attempt to sneak, they have -1 to Stealth in the Quick Contest as well.

Probably a good idea to discuss this in character.

Jungle campsite

Within an hour a space near the jungle trail is cleared and the basics of a camp are set up by the group. A fire pit is constructed in the middle. Whatever comfort that could be found is prepared. However there is the question of water.

The group can pick 2 or 3 for the other option. Not sure if there's any consensus. Keeping a fire going through out the night won't affect either 2 or 3. This second option can be figured out, while the group looks for water. Also when the group goes for water, I'll assume everyone is going unless someone says they are staying behind.

The group heads out of the camp and onto the trail. They follow Hector as he makes his way along the trail looking for a source of water. An hour spent walking the trail and Hector spots the signs of a close pool of water. A smaller trail leads off to the right a couple yards away from the trail is an open spot in the jungle. Hector leads the group to the water. In the center of the clearing is a pit that appears to have collected a lot of rain water. Surrounding the pool of water is a muddy embankment with the traces of the animals who have come to drink from the pool of water.

Courtney and Miles then wake up and start looking for danger. At the very edge of the camp fire light, they see something run further into the jungle away from the light. Before either of them can do anything the intruder disappears into the darkness.

Naomi and Hector wake up last. They look around, but they don't see anything moving. However there are some tracks at the edge of the clearing where they are set up. The tracks look like the large bird like tracks seen before.

Chapter 1 - A hundred billion castaways looking for a home

The group makes their way up the trail and back to the shore line. When they get to the game trail they see the large (possibly) bird tracks along the trail. The tracks appear to go to the area of the camp and then they go further into the jungle of the island. The tracks don't appear to go towards the shore. The only footprints that can be seen from the camp to the shore are the ones the group made.

Moving through the jungle. The tropical nature of the island becomes apparent. It seems as if the various trees and other plants are working to hold in the heat and moisture. Standing still provides no relief from the heat, but at least the plants provide some protection from the worst of the tropical sun. It isn't long before some relief is in sight. The group comes to the beach where they washed up on the day before.

Looking out towards the ocean, the waves have white caps on them. The crash of the waves on the beach drowns out the sounds of the jungle. Still while the ocean looks like it would be difficult to boat in, near the shore the ocean doesn't appear to present any dangers.

Beach

Irina finds that the shallows of the beach are uniform and quite safe. If she were to go out another five to ten meters there would be a problem. Looking up at the sky, she can determine that this island is located in the south Pacific. Most likely south of Yapan, and further east as well. Unfortunately this means that they could have ended up on an island far away from shipping lanes.

Miles looks around and finds that the island gains elevation as it moves towards inwards. Its hard to see from his position on the beach, but he believes that if the group were to travel with their back to the ocean, they would be able to find the highest part of the island.

As the group washes up, they do realize that they will have to be proactive in finding a way off the island. Building a ship to effect their own rescue wouldn't be the best use of their time, so the other option they have is to create something that draw attention to the island.

Further down the beach, some piece of wood appears to be drifting along the shore. Its about a meter in size and it seems that it has been pushed laterally down the shore from some point north of where the group is currently.

On the move

The sun beats down on the sand. Even though its early in the day, the temperature is hotter than most would like it. To the left stood the jungle. The jungle swarmed with the sounds of birds and other various animals moving around in it. As they moved up the shore line, there was no sign of other people either in the jungle or out in the ocean. Occasionally there were bits of debris washing up on the shore, reminders of the past they had, but nothing useful. The sand underneath their feet provide little support for the hike, making the going longer than it should be. Moving along the one sign of hope they had was that they kept seeing the column of smoke. It seemed that they were drawing closer to the source of the fire.

Two hours into the hike, the group approaches a swampy area with mangrove trees. The beach ends and drops off into waist deep water. Looking across the water, it appears that less than a half a mile away the swamp goes back to being beach. Looking forward, the smoke appears to be coming form a fire that is north west of where they were standing currently. The group forges ahead through the swamp and as they waded through the swamp the water helped cool them off. After climbing out of the swamp, the group resumes its trek along the beach. Then after another hour of walking along the beach, they spot where the origin of the smoke.

Down the shore line at the edge of the jungle, there is a stockade built with palm tree logs. The wall looks sturdy with the logs lashed tightly to one another. The height of the wall appears to be only about five to six feet tall, but it looks like it would do a good job of keeping out intruders. And as if to prove the security of the stockage, along several tall shafts of logs are the skulls of some kind of lizard or bird. From where they stand, they can see at least three skulls along the walls. The wall looks roughly about thirty feet across and might the whole wall might be a circle. What looks like an entrance faces the ocean.

On the beach opposite the fort is a large log driven into the sand with a rope attached to it. Attached to the rope is a rather large wooden vessel with a sail. Its appearance makes it look like a viking ship, a longship. While the design might make the ship look viking in origin, there are differences in what one expects. Along the side there are no shields nor were there oars. Instead there is a pontoon attached to the side. From this distance its hard to tell what the ship is constructed out of, but those in the group who know of European woods and ships can tell that the ship is made of local materials.

Looking around no people can be seen and the group is too far off to hear any signs of activity.

Moving on! 5cp for everyone.

Also due to the exertion of hiking in the tropical heat, characters have lost a total of 7 fp. That is due to hiking for three hours and and regaining a couple fp when wading through the swamp.

Wooden fort

Miles approaches the fort with others in tow. He moves over the sand towards the wall of wood and as they approach, they do hear some voices from within the stockade. The voices are muffled by the wooden barrier between them, but they are heard well enough to hear multiple people within the fortification talking. None of the group can make sense of the spoken language. Even though Miles and company can't understand the group inside the wooden fence, the tone makes it seem like they are having an ordinary conversation. The group doesn't stop speaking as Miles and the others move up.

Jeff and Naomi make their way along the tree line. Observing the wooden wall, they see that no one is keeping watch on the wall. The people inside don't seem like they are worried about an attack. Moving in closer, they hear the voices. Voices of men speaking a language they can't comprehend. The voices seem to have a convivial tone and show no signs of noticing someone sneaking up on them. Jeff and Naomi sneak closer to the wooden fort with the knowledge that they haven't been detected. Closer up the skulls they saw on the wooden wall appear to be about a couple feet in size and look like they are from a dinosaur. From where they stand they notice that the wall facing the jungle is reinforced as to add extra protection to that side of the wall. There is no door on the wall facing the jungle.

At this point, Miles group is about 10 meters away from the fort, while Jeff and Naomi are within several yards of it.

I'm assuming at this point Azure is only hearing what the others hear. I'll post again if she uses telepathy or anything.

I might edit in more information, if I missed something.

Mysterious fort on the beach

Azure picks up on the minds of a group of men. Some are discussing a decorated rifle another has. A couple others are asking [Proper Animal name] and how dangerous are they. In response to the question about the dangerous animal, an older mind conjures up a picture of one in his mind. The picture is a human-sized bipedal dinosaur with large talons. Associated with the image is the concept that only come out at night. Yet another voice wonders if there's something outside the barrier that surrounds them.

Courtney picks up a blue-green aura from those in the stockade. Those inside don't appear to have hostile intentions. About a handful have an aura that expresses them feeling that everything is normal. Around a half doze auras have a mixture of apprehension and excitement.

Irina speaks up in front of the fort. Azure can hear all the thoughts suddenly being directed towards Irina's voice. Those inside wonder who it is. All are curious, but some are anxious about Irina.

In front of the stockage, Irina stands. The gate to the stockade opens up. Inside Irina can see around ten dark skinned men. They are dressed in variety of natural materials with most of them wearing what appears to be armor constructed from some kind of plant material. Inside the compound has a small shelter, a cooking pit and what look like sleeping mats spread around. The group also has baskets around the edges of the wall too. She also sees a dozen shafts with embedded shark teeth in them. Near the spears were several clubs and a couple of metal blades. At the back of the enclosure are two rifles.

After she manages to get a glimpse inside, one of the men approaches her. A six foot tall man wearing no armor, but whose body is covered in tattoos. He carries an unknown make of rifle (possibly bolt action) and has a shark tooth club hanging by a belt. He rests the butt of the gun on the sand holding it with his left hand, and looking at Irina, he raises his right hand and waves at her. He then says,

"Alii Matangi. Biga Bonasprak?"

Azure can pick up that the man said hello and asked if Irina spoke Bonasprak.

Another man who had been sitting down, walks up to the door way. This other man looks older, possibly in his thirties or forties. There appear to be some small wrinkles on his face and his body appears to be on the down slope from an athletic youth. This man doesn't wear armor either, but has a knife attached to his belt. "Food," he shows them the fire and the food roasting there. "Shelter," he opens his hands to point out the fort. "Yes," he points to Irina and Miles and gestures them to come inside.

Another of the men in the fort, a younger man wearing armor stands by the wall and yells something.

"Others? You? Come in."

As Miles and Irina let the others know that they are invited to come inside the fort, so that they can get something to eat and drink.

The older man points to the skull that Miles looked at when referring to helping them protect the camp.

"Liiw Yiim." He then points to the young men and then draws his knife at which point he makes a stabbing motion with it before putting it away. Then pointing to the sky, he says, "Night."

For Azure. The older man understands that Miles and Irina were brought to the island with the storm. He then adds that the storm brings a lot of junk (meaning the stuff washed up on the beach, but also meant as a joke about Matang (white foreigners).

He then offers food and shelter to Irina and Miles. The young man happens to spot the others from the group and the older man invites them in too.

And in regards to the skull on the wall, it is identified as a hunting death and the young men are going to hunt them tonight.

The man who speaks some English introduces himself as Alika. He points to the man who first opened up the door and says his name is Marama. Alika then points to an older man seated next to the fire and calls him, Afa. The man sitting with several younger men listening to him is named Kanoa. A man wearing armor and sitting down repairing a spear is called Sifa. Alika then points to the young men of the group and quickly rattles their names off, Enar, Jon, Mikel, Nils, and Amri. It becomes apparent due to the way Alika introduces people that there is a divide between the older men of the group (Alika, Marama, Afa, Kanoa and Sifa who are introduced separately) and the younger men (Enar, Jon, Mikel, Nils, and Amri). The younger men (who appear to still be in their teens) show difference towards the older men of the fort.

"Liiw Yiim! Yes." He then mimics a dinosaur by making clawing motions with his hands and growling. "Island, home. We come." He points to the young men. "They go night, hunt them." He points to the other older men and says, "We stay." When Miles points to his firearm, Alika shakes his head.

"No!" He says emphatically. "No guns. Yalean say sarey and yaer only."

Afa looks up as he hears Courtney struggle to find the right word. He mimics the motion of drinking out of a cup and laughs. "Kava?"

"No Kava," Alika answers. "Home. Drink there."

Looking at Irina, he tells her, "Home sail," he points off to the north east and raises two fingers. "Leader? Ah, Limwehtu."

As the group begin to go towards the food and water, Afa gets up and brings over several banana leaf bundles. Inside the bundles are a mixture of sliced tubers and fish. Seeing that Miles would prefer to have some of the roasting fish, Afa offers to cut a slice of it off for him. Afa then says something to the young men and they bring over several jugs of water. The water has a touch of coconut water in them.

I think I answered the questions.

Azure picks up that Alika said that the storm comes once every couple of months. It usually brings trash, but some times people are also brought to shore. Other, as he thinks of the group, white people come from the ocean, but not from the storm.

He then talks about the dinosaurs. The young men of the group are here to hunt the dinosaurs using only their traditional weapons. No guns allowed on the hunt.

Kava is some kind of intoxicating beverage and they don't have any with them.

Also the group is from an island two days away and their leader is someone named Limwehtu.

"None stay here. We bring back abau. No good for you here. Others there, other Matang." Alika listened to Miles speak about the hunt. He rubbed his chin and looked down at the ground thinking of how to explain the situation. He puts out both of his hands towards the young men in the camp and then mimics grabbing them. "They need hunt. Agpakanga!"

He then makes another gesture, one encompassing the others in the fort. "We stay here. Protect kehl. " He then goes over and grabs a rifle. "Here we use gun."

Hearing Hector's question, he moves over to Sifa and places his hands on the man's shoulders.

"Sifa take them for hunt. Go out with pahn on ground. Liiw Yiim." He lifts his head up and takes a deep sniff. "Liiw Yiim come and ah!" he draws his knife and makes a stabbing motion.

After putting his knife away, he walks over to Jeff.

"Kamwahu. No fight. Rest, eat."

Sifa then says something in their language. Alika nods to him.

"If you want hunt." Speaking to the group as a whole, "Use sarey and yaer only. Go with them."

Azure picks up the full conversation.

No people live on the island. They bring back those they find on the island to their home on another island. Then Alika tries to explain that the young men must go on the hunt because its a rite of passage. However those who stay in the wooden fort are allowed to use any weapons at their disposal to defend themselves, since that isn't part of the ritual hunt.

The hunt is explained. Sifa takes the young men out and they put bait out bait for the dinos. When the dinos come in, they attack the dinos.

What Alika says to Jeff is that the group are guests and they are entitled to be well treated.

Sifa tells Alika that the visitors should be given the chance to participate in the ritual. It is their right.

He then adds that any of the group who want to can join the hunt. As long as they obey the rules of the hunt.

Alika allows the group to talk privately. The other islanders go back to other tasks, so as not to intrude on the Matang conversation (even though they might not even understand it).

Kanoa, the man by the fire and the story teller, continues to talk. The young men seem entranced by his talking. At one point Kanoa reaches into a pouch and brings out a talon of sorts that is a third of a meter in size. He then uses it to illustrate a point by making slashing motions towards the young men.

Time goes by and the sun begins to go down. The group can see the islanders preparing for the ritual hunt by putting on pieces of armor made out of some kind of woven fabric. They don vests along with separate pieces on the arms and legs.

Alika addresses the group.

"Now hunt or stay." Alika offers. "Soon they go out."

Quick post to keep things going. If anyone wants to go on the rite of passage hunt, then now is the time to speak up.

Everyone has rested long enough to recover all of your fp as well.

Seeing that some of the group wanted to participate in the hunt, Alika says, "Good"

He then walks over to a corner of the fort where numerous weapons have been collected. Among the collection are six six foot tall spears made of some kind of a black wood with metal tips and two spears with barbs carved into the dark wood of the spear. There are a multitude of various clubs. Some of the clubs are merely handles with a large protuberance at one end. Others are have various sharp points carved into them, while a couple clubs have large teeth embedded within them. A couple of slender sword like weapons are there as well. These appear to be sword shaped, but with some kind of black glass embedded into them. Sifa walks over to the weapons and gives a quick demonstration on how the weapons should be used. He demonstrates that the spears can be thrown or thrust towards an enemy. Some of the clubs are used for throwing (and there appear to be more of these clubs than other weapons), other clubs have a point on the head. Sifa shows that the point is meant to strike an opponent's head. The sword like weapons are shown next. The use of them is easy to understand. Sifa points to Miles sword and nods to show approval of that weapon's use as well.

The young men going on the hunt appear to have chosen their weapons. They seem to carry a couple clubs and one or two other weapons besides.

Here are the weapons available to the group. Even though I mention the amounts of each weapon, I'm not concerning myself about sticking to the numbers. Basically everyone going on the hunt can choose up to 2 melee weapons and two throwing clubs. Here is the list of weapons and the skills needed to use them proficiently:

Axe/mace:
Knobbed Club dam sw+1 cr st 8
Round Mace Dam sw+2 cr st 12 (can be thrown)
Small Round Mace dam sw+1 st 10 (can be thrown)

Broadsword
Wooden sword with obsidian shards dam sw+2(0.5) cut st 10 or dam thr+1 cr st 10
wooden club with shark’s teeth dam sw+1(0.5) cut st 10 or dam thr cr st 10 or thr-1 imp

Shortsword
Small wooden sword with obsidian shards dam sw+1(0.5) cut st 8 or dam thr cr st 8

Spear
Short Spear dam thr+1 imp st 6 or dam thr cut st 6 (Tip Slash)
Spear with pieces of obsidian inserted around the perimeter of the head dam thr+1 imp st 6 or dam thr cut st 6 (Tip Slash)

Thrown weapon (axe/mace)
Throwing clubs dam sw+1 cr acc 1 range x1/x1.5 st 10

Also any knives, daggers, and/or swords would be allowed as well. With Sifa's guidance, everyone can take a +1 against any penalties on using these weapons.

Hector looks around and sees that one of the young men also carries a sling with him. It seems that slings are among the weapons allowed in the hunt.

Alika looks at Jeff's knife and nods in approval. The man looks at the knife with admiration as well. When Jeff points to the spears, he nods to let him know he can take a spear.

PG, sorry forgot about Hector's sling. I planned on having one of the young men having a sling already, so its definitely good for the hunt. Also Davin, good idea on putting a point into spear. Anyone else can do that as well. Assuming your character has some experience with spears or bayonets.

Alika begins to draw a diagram into the sand.

"In clearing. Fire at center." He points to the center of the mostly drawn circle. "They," He says pointing to the young men "Stay by fire." The crude stick figures represent the young men.

"You," he says pointing to the group, "stay by trees. Bait by fire. Liiw Yiim come." He draws stick figure dinos entering the clearing. "The young ones strike LIiw Yiim first. Then you can strike."

He looks up to see if the group understands how the ritual hunt will go.

For Azure. The plan is for the young men to sit next to the fire and the bait, while everyone else hides by the trees. When the dinos arrive, the young men are expected to get the first hit in. After that, everyone can join the fight.

Also, Platonicsolid, sorry to hear that. Being laid off sucks.

character buys are all approved.

Sifa leaves the fort by himself and Alika stops anyone from following him.

"You know. Good." Alika points to the door. "Sifa go. He make the site ready and then you go."

A half hour later Sifa enters the fort again. He nods. The young men all get up and begin to walk towards the door. As the young men begin to leave, Sifa signals that the group should follow.

Sifa takes lead of the group and he goes down a trail into the jungle. The sun is beginning to set, but there's enough light to see, so that there's no danger of tripping. The path itself is well kept up and easy to follow. It looks as though its been used many times before. Less than a mile away from the fort. Sifa guides the group to a clearing in the jungle. The clearing is roughly twelve meters in diameter. At four points around the circle are lit torches mounted to poles. In the center of the circle is a large fire with some kind of meat roasting over it.

Sifa has everyone enter the circle and then places a log across the path into the circle. He looks to the group.

"Go. Hide in trees. Stay in shadows, but stay close."

Surrounding the clearing are numerous trees, but little in the way of undergrowth. There are ample places to where a person can hide amongst the shadows cast by the trees.

At the southern end of the clearing is another path entrance. This one has a piece of meat hanging from a branch dangling about five feet off the ground.

As the group begins to take in the surroundings, Courtney feels an odd sensation. Around the clearing, a meter outside the clearing actually, there is some kind of a magic barrier. Its a weak magic, but magic nonetheless.

Circle of the hunting ritual (Jungle)

Night comes and the clearing is lit up from the fire at the center. Arranged around the fire are the five young warriors. In the shadows and foliage surrounding the clearing the group has taken spots with a view of the clearing. The young men seem ill at ease and focus their attention on the opening to the jungle clearing. Courtney notices that the ground of the clearing appears to have been cleared and cleaned up to hide evidence of previous activities. This could be because the islanders don't want to tip off the dinosaurs from realizing this is a trap. On the other hand, it might have something to do with the low level magic they are picking up around the area.

After waiting for about an hour, the ambient noise of the jungle goes silent. It seems that something has spooked the small animals and insects that inhabit the jungle.

If there's any last minute adjustments, now is the time to do them. Like if anyone needs to move where they are on the diagram. Also I need people to post their combat stat blocks (or you can ask me to post them for characters). Also for anyone who wants a light blade similar to a rapier, here's the stats: Light shark tooth sword damage: sw cut reach: 1 Parry: 0

Characters are listed by first initial. Sifa is the S and the young warriors are listed by numbers.

Sorry this isn't working.

The problem is on my end. The adventure isn't working with the characters. People are welcome to bring characters back, when I run something else.
