Abner rushes over to the others, and nods at Ignatius. Good work with these... beasts. Though I fear that both of us are somewhat underequipped compared to our fellows". He looks on as Sasha begins to help Jake, and stoops down next to her. "Let me know if a can assist you, miss. Should we move him back into camp?"

Sasha gets to work with single minded determination. The conversations around her are ignored while she tends to her patient. The wounds are deep, but the cuts were clean. The dino-bird creatures appear to have clean claws, so the threat of infection is low. Jake has lost quite a bit of blood, but he will manage to recover. Sasha works quickly to staunch the bleeding and to stitch wounds closed.

Jake is healed 7 hp. He's now at 0 hp. Move and Dodge are currently halved (round up). Until more healing is done, a HT check has to be done each turn in combat unless he is only on the defensive.

Sasha finishes the last suture and begin's to bandage Jake's wounds. "Well you should die any time soon, at least not from this, but you did lose a lot of blood. You'll need to take it easy, and try not to move any more than necessary. We're not exactly set up for transfusion out here."

It isn't until she finishes that registers that someone else had been addressing her. She notices Vojtech holding her gun; she'd forgotten about the drat thing in all the fuss with Jake. "Oh, that, a friend of mine form the war gave it to me. Said even with the railroad the frontier is still the frontier, and a woman living alone can't be too careful. Who am I to argue with a Cavalry Major? Tonight was the first time I ever had to fire it at a living being, though."

Swampdog - Camp Clavo

As Sasha patched Jake back up, Swampdog took the time to roll himself another cigarette. Clavo poo poo was one thing, but loving dinos? He walked over to the nearest dino carcass, his curiosity overtaking him. Swamp kneeled down and pulled the creature's mouth open. Serrated teeth! That had to fuckin' hurt. Good thing the doc (apparently) knew what she was doing. There was something more interesting to Swamp, however. "What kinda dino has fuckin' feathers?", he mumbled to himself. He pulled out his multitool and pried out a tooth as a souvenir. This critter DID have pretty cool lookin' teeth.

Once the snowboarder was bandaged up, Swampdog decided to broach the subject of deader removal again, "If that guy got back up in the first place, there's nothin' stoppin' him from doin' it again. And there's no tellin' what'll come to pick the body." While Swampdog had never had to kill (re-kill?) a zombie, he had heard of the methods. Either complete dismemberment or a fire hot enough to burn the flesh off. The second was out of the question; gasoline was too limited and too important and he'd be damned if he was going to give up what was possibly the only bottle of liquor for miles. "I know how to deal with these types, but I need to do it a way's away from here, cuz it's gonna be messy. Normally I'd do it myself but I need someone to come with me, for, uh, obvious reasons. Woj, Ignatius? Either of you up for this?."

While Swampdog was confident in his ability to deal with dinos, there was Clavo poo poo about and there were rules for dealing with such. One of the big ones (other than 'Don't touch weird poo poo', of course) was 'Don't go anywhere without someone watching your back.'

Ignatius - Bloody Camp Nowhere

"Provided somebody else remain on watch here at the camp, I can assist you. This has something to do with the voice that called out for you?" the ex-legionary says as he rubs his shield on the sand, trying to remove some of the blood from the strange 'dinosaurs' that the others were so familiar with. "Let me grab my spear and a torch."

Swampdog - Camp Clavo

Swampdog scratched the back of his head, "Ya didn't see it? One of the guys I was with when the storm hit didn't die *right* and decided to try and gently caress me up. We handled him, but there's always the chance he'll get back up." Swampdog put his shotgun into its scabbard and slung it over his shoulder, "I'll be ready whenever you are." Swamp reasoned that the Roman guy would be a decent escort. Guy obviously could take care of himself, what with fighting off the dinos with only a sword and shield. Would leave the old Czech guy and his nice assault rifle to guard the camp, too. However, he decided against giving Ignatius a gun. Good way to get shot in the back, that.

When Ignatius was ready, Swampdog lead him down to the beach where they had (re)killed the 606 guy. Hopefully the guy wasn't up and about already.

Vojtech looks at the gun reverently for a second, thinking about the apparent doctor's mention of multiple worlds, before handing it to it's rightful owner. "Take care of this Miss Sasha. If we ever manage to get back to somewhere like my world, then that is a hundred thousand dollar revolver. A good year's wages, for an old man like me."

Vojtech looks at Swampdog for a minute, listening carefully. "This is a wise plan. Czechmate and I will keep our friends here safe. You two please go destroy that thing, and then tell me what in the gently caress it is, yeah? And grab my medkit please. I was pulling it out when that loving thing attacked you."

Pulling the teeth out of the dino's mouth proves to be a simple task. Probably easier than dealing with the blood that got sprayed out into the camp, but that was an issue for later. First Swampdog and Ignatius head out to where Swampdog's former associate lay.

Vojtech looks around to see if there are any future problems coming their way. He sees nothing, but he still realizes that something might be lured in because of the smell of blood.

Swampdog and Ignatius walk up to the body and it starts moving. Ignatius stabs it with his spear and then Swampdog takes its head off ending the threat of the monster in a human body.

Swampdog - Camp Clavo

Swampdog wiped his machete off on the dead man's jumpsuit and took a step back to check out his handiwork. It certainly wasn't moving any more. Swamp had heard of deaders getting back up after their heads had been removed, but they were no longer a threat; without eyes or ears, most of them just stumbled around ineffectually at very best.

He kneeled down to say a few words to the dead man, "Hey, man. I don't know your name and we're in different crews and all, but...well, I'm sorry. Nobody deserves to go out to clavo poo poo. I'm just glad I could end it for ya. If I see your pals and they're as hosed up as you ended up, I'll do the same for them." Among the denizens of Inferno-1, it was almost universally agreed upon that it was better to take a bullet from your fellow man than die (or worse) to anomalous things. At least you know what you were getting with the bullet.

Swampdog reached out and ripped a patch from the dead man's jumpsuit. It was the insignia of The Union: an alligator (a normal one, before poo poo got all hosed up!) with lightning shooting out of its open mouth. Apparently this was their logo before everything went bad, but Swampdog had a hard time believing it. He stashed the patch in his coat to give to Meyers or The Union's boss later, if there was a later.

Swamp returned to a standing position and turned to address Ignatius, "Alright, this one's more or less dealt with. Let's get him away from the camp. Don't need him stinkin' up the place and luring who-knows-what to us. Oh, and be careful. I hear some zombies can still move after you take out the head." He grabbed the headless body by the arms, allowing Ignatius to take the legs.

Moving the dead body a safe distance away from the camp, preferably sticking to the beach. Swampdog's lifting skill is 11, if that matters.

While Ignatius and Swampdog head off the deal with whatever it was that happened down by the beach--he'd been otherwise occupied, of course--Jake followed Swampdog's lead. He pulls his multitool out of his bag and starts working one of the bird-lizard's gnarly claws from it's body. "At least I get a badass souvenir out of the deal."

After removing the claw, Jake returns to and sits by the fire. "So, what's the plan? Anybody planning on killing us all during the night? Can we sleep here? Are we about to get sleep murdered by some dinosaurs?"

Swampdog drags the body of his companion away from the camp. He dragged the body far enough away that no one in the camp would be able to see the body any more. At least not in the dark. Swampdog would have liked to have done something more than just dragging the body away from the camp, but it was the best he could do for the moment. Going out any further, taking the body into the jungle, or digging a grave would expose him to too much danger. After disposing of the body, he walked back to camp.

The camp survived the attack, but there was still the matter of the blood and the bodies of the two dinosaurs. Even if the bodies were disposed of or dumped outside of the camp, there was still the blood on the ground. On top of that there's still plenty of darkness left before the dawn.

Swampdog - Camp Nowhere

The night was an uneventful one. During his shift, Swampdog sat on a log and sipped from the bottle of IBrEW 606 he recovered earlier. It was worse than he thought; even the swish made by his pals back at the Bloodsuckers' compound tasted better. And he thought he was joking when he said it could degrease engines. Somewhere past the halfway point of his shift, Swampdog pulled out his radio and began flipping through the frequencies, purposefully avoiding the one he and the 606 guys were going to use. Sure, radios weren't even invented yet in dinosaur times, but you never know!

Swampdog's gonna scan his radio and see if he gets anything other than static. Swamp has a 10 in Elec Op (Comms)/TL8, if that matters. He'll check the 606 frequency last, and only if he doesn't find anything else.

Swampdog woke up slightly later than everyone else. He got off the ground, brushed the sand off his back, and put his duster (which he had been using as a blanket) back on it. Vojtech Liska - Camp Nowhere

Vojtech is woken up for his watch, and spends his time planning and thinking. They needed a secure camp. His army days hadn't taught him how to prepare for dinosaurs, but a good foxhole or log bunker would protect as well or better. Not much of what he learned in North Africa and the Middle East would come in handy though. Jungle didn't exactly act the same as deserts and arid mountain passes. Nor did he exactly have full pack, and his smokes and phone were both hosed.

Hopes that there'd be no more dinosaurs or mutant zombie hellcreatures kept Vojtech awake past his watch. Thirst and some mild hunger didn't help. But the craving for a smoke was the worst part though. Always was. Come morning, bumming a smoke off of Swampdog would be essential to making it through the day comfortably.

Come morning, his joints were sore. Not unexpected. He was damned near 47 now. An old man, with an old man's aches and pains. He makes himself comfortable by the remains of the fire, listening to Abner and Swampdog, nodding to what the musket wielder says.

"There is fresh water that Jake and I discovered. I would suggest we relocate closer to there, and build ourselves a proper camp. It has been nearly thirty years, but I am certain that I can remember how to make a bunker of wood and earth. Should keep us dry and safe, out of the open. After that, our Roman friend may be able to make us some palisade walls. From there, food and exploration, see if there is anything or anyone else around here."

He holds his silence for a bit, rubbing his knee, before looking to Swampdog. "Got a smoke I could bum on you? Afraid the dip in saltwater hosed mine."

He pointed at Abner's barrel of tobacco, "Good thing Abner here is willin' to share."

After taking a moment to roll a smoke for himself, Swampdog agreed with the others, "Yeah, that sounds about right. poo poo, I didn't know ya'll were good at buildin' poo poo. He turned towards Sasha, "You seem like the expert here, is there a way to, uh, un-Banestorm-ify yourself or whatever it's called?"

The night had been uneventful, at least as far as Jake remembered. Of course, he was likely the worst watchman on any world, given his low energy reserves. Swampdog sighed, "Well, we can't stay here. I was fuckin' around with my radio last night, tryin' to see if there was anybody else around and, uh..." He trailed off, running a hand through his hair, "I heard someone get killed. And not in a good way. Could just be more dinos, but I dunno. After the dead guy, it could be goddamned anything."

Shortly after he said that, Swampdog came to a realization about Sasha. Something was off about her. She claimed to come from 18-something and had a cowboy gun, but unlike the other past people, she seemed to know things she shouldn't. She had done it yesterday, too. Swamp was pretty sure people in cowboy times didn't even have power, yet she knew what a generator was. On top of that, Swamp caught a glimpse of her medical tools when she patched up Jake. Most of the doctors in 20-fuckin'-32 were using worse. Swampdog decided to let the issue slide for now; in situations like this, the last person you wanna piss off is the doctor.

Swampdog slung his shotgun scabbard over his shoulder with a flourish and replied to Jake, "Yeah. Let's roll. Just try to take it easy, though. I didn't the first time I got shot and the drat hole ended openin' back up. That poo poo'll ruin your day like nothin' else."

"Take the gun my friend. And next time, if something is coming at you at all, shoot first, and ask questions later. I will lead the way. Jake, stay in the middle, and Swampdog, would you mind covering our zadek with your shotgun? Our rear end, I mean."

Vojtech chuckles for a minute, remembering an old joke. "A lawyer invites his cousin from Czech Republic to come and stay with him in Canada. The Czech cousin arrives, determined to enjoy himself. Soon they decide to go rambling. They're right out in the middle of the forest when a big grizzly bear appears. The bear hugs the poor Czech cousin to death and then eats him.The lawyer runs to the nearest village and tells everybody what has happened. The villagers form a search party and return to the forest. They come across some bears and ask the lawyer to identify the one that killed his cousin.'It's that male bear over there.'"

Vojtech takes a long draw from his smoke, grinning,

"They kill the bear and rip open his stomach, but there is nothing there. They decide to kill the female bear nearby, and when they rip open her stomach, they find the poor Czech cousin. So it all goes to show: 'Never trust a lawyer when he says the cheque is in the mail.' "
