Speaking of bugs, I ran into moment the other day. So, heavy tanks: they are bugged as poo poo. Not only is the main driver's aim messed up by being super sensitive, except when its zoomed in, but the passengers gently caress up the tank's loadout. I realized this when I was trying to use the flamethrower variant. See, the tank's loadout is not determined by the driver, like every other vehicle in the game. Instead, the tank changes its loadout to the last person that enters the tank. This means that if I entered the tank, switched seats, and started shooting my flamethrower, someone else could enter and the flames would switch to bullets even while I was still firing my weapon. Luckily, this can be easily reverted by jumping out and back in quickly. This bug is even more strange because different tank variants seat a different amount of people. I wonder what happens if I enter a tank that has 5 people in it equipped with a loadout that only seats 4? In addition to that, I think the heavy breakthrough loadout is not set up properly. It was hard to verify due to the aforementioned bugs, but it appears that the right gunner gets access to some kind of auto cannon that damages vehicles, but the left and back gunners just get access to machine guns. I could be wrong on this though.

CAPTAIN CAPSLOCK posted:Support sucks because their weapons have retarded design. The longer you fire making your weapon more accurate sounds good, until you realize that only 1 gun has 100(or 200 with the variant) rounds. And even that one can overheat if you fire 30 bullets leaving you vulnerable for a little bit while you do the cooling off animation. So you just have inaccurate guns that take a few warm up shots before they start to actually become effective, unlike everyone else. You can't even burstfire them at range because your initial spread is poo poo so it doesn't matter. IMO they should change the weapons that have less than 100 rounds to work like normal guns, then leave the actual machine gun to work as it currently does ie gets more accurate as you fire. Their gadget selection really hurts them too. I mean you can drop ammo and tripmines. Woo? They should get dynamite and AT landmines too. well, support does have the coolest looking weapons with the best reloading animations

epic Kingdom Hearts LP posted:Any consensus on what the best Medic gun is? I'm really loving that class but the starter weapon isn't that great. I unlocked the one with sights but man do those sights suck. They take up way too much of the screen. The iron sights really aren't that bad. I'm not joking when I say that the auto-revolver pistol for the medic is my most effective weapon for that class. I like to get up close to the action so I can heal and revive my teammates and the rifles that the medic has don't gel well with that playstyle. Now I just pull out my handcanon and go wild on the frontlines, just gotta keep an eye on my ammo cause the 6 shots don't last long. Parkingtigers posted:I can't believe they managed to make horses both fun and effective. Here's me getting a 6 killstreak during a game of Rush on Ballroom Blitz. Don't overlook the cavalry class, the gun is amazing, and you can sabre dudes, or just run them down. Move fast, flank and circle, and enjoy harassing the hell out of the enemy. That's a good video and I would like to add more tips for people struggling with the cavalry. As Parkingtigers mentioned, the best thing you can do with cav is flank and get behind the enemy. Charging right into the frontlines is what I see a lot of pubbie cav do and that gets them killed instantly. Use your superior mobility to go around the frontlines and get the drop on the enemies. Another thing is to not forget the rest of the loadout the cav has. In addition to the rifle and sword, you also have medpacks and ammo packs. In the video, you can see that it takes forever for the cav rider's health to start coming back and he dies because he charged a guy while being at 14 health. Dropping medpacks after a successful hit and run is the best way to stay in the fight. The cav also has access to 2 anti-tank grenades that will gently caress up tanks if you can get the drop on them. The grenades also come back in about 15 seconds after you throw your second one so don't be afraid to spam them. Lastly, I really recommend using the cav sword as your primary and the rifle for specific situations. Keeping the cav sword ready at all times means that you don't need to fumble around with it if you suddenly see a guy and won't have to double back around to kill him cause you missed your initial opportunity. As I said earlier, speed is everything with the cav and a moment of hesitation can and will get you killed. I only ever use the rifle for picking off snipers that I can't get to with the horse and shooting other cav that are running away from me. Everything else gets cav sworded. Follow these simple cav tips and you too will be going on ridiculous killing sprees that cause pubbies to vomit their rage into chat

MadJackMcJack posted:Wait, what? Is that by using the ammo pouch or is it just a thing cav has? Because if it's the second one holy gently caress that changes my cav plans. The light anti-tank grenades have a decent radius on them and do horrible things to infantry, so the cav just got a whole lot more deadly. No need to use ammo packs. As long as you use BOTH grenades, not just one, and are on your horse, they come back automatically after like 15 or so seconds. When you are dismounted, you only have one grenade and you have to resupply it. 404notfound posted:I'd really like to know stats for the different kinds of grenades and gadgets. I feel like my play style matches the assault rather well (rushing and capping points and getting in close), but I pick it so rarely because all its gadgets are for dealing with vehicles, which I don't encounter often enough on most maps to justify taking up all my gadget slots. But if the AT rifle and the AT grenades work well enough on infantry, I might start to play assault more often. Assault might be the best class in the game right now. Ya, their gadgets are made for taking out vehicles, but they are also amazing at murdering infantry as well. The AT grenades work just as well as frags do against infantry, at least in my experience, and the AT rifle is the best sniper rifle in the game because it can one-shot kill infantry from any range. Assault also has access to shotguns and sub-machine guns which means that for any range, against any land target, assault has the best tools to deal with the situation.

Krinkle posted:I tried to use a horse. I couldn't kill afk people standing stock still in a field facing the other way. I played a shitload of mount and blade so I"m fighting a pretty ingrained idea about how to time a saber slash on a person on foot but I literally cannot make this poo poo connect no matter what. I made an effort post earlier today about being good on the horse, but I do have some advice for the other side as well. For starters, you're right that the horse and the rider have a ton of health, but you need to keep in mind that they have separate health pools. Riding a horse in this game is more like driving one of the open jeeps in that you can be shot off of the horse, but the horse can still be fine. This means that the quickest way to take down cavalry is to aim for the rider; they have slightly less health than the horse. Trust me, a headshot from a powerful gun can still one-hit-kill the rider; it's happened to me more than a few times. Of course, this method is risky and difficult. A real pro move is to lay down some dynamite and stand with it between you and the cav. Once he comes to sword you, just blow him up and laugh. Another thing to keep in mind is, like you say, it can be very tricky for the rider to hit you with the sword, particularly if there is cover and debris nearby for you to run around. There are two basic ways to not get killed. One is to put something like cover or a house between you and the cav if you are lucky enough to see them approaching you. If the horse gets stuck on the scenery, which is pretty likely, then you have a real shot at taking them down no problem. Of course, you can find yourself in a situation where there is no cover. When that happens, your best bet is to run diagonally towards them and to their right, because it is difficult to swing to the left on a horse. Once they start to get close, go prone. If you are lucky and lag didn't gently caress you, you will not get hit by the sword and avoid getting run over by the horse. Of course, they will probably swing back around and kill you, but now maybe you can damage them enough to kill them before they do. If all else fails, just light them up with gas and fire grenades. The rider can't put their mask on while mounted and moving around while on fire does extra damage so it shreds the hit n run cav riders. This will make them think twice before assaulting your position.

Seriously, it gets me miffed when people cry about the "lack of progression " in a game. I can't stand how every multiplayer shooter feels the need to gate all of their coolest stuff behind hours of gameplay lest the playerbase get up in arms about how the game has no longevity. I really appreciated how BF1, and Battlefront for that matter, spent very little time getting new players new toys. When I first start playing a shooter, I have a hard time enjoying myself until I unlock enough equipment to give myself a tool for every situation. This can take a huge amount of time in other games and really sours me to the whole experience when I am getting killed by something that I know is fun but won't be able to have for another dozen hours. If I recall, BF3 was the worst offender. Didn't you have to unlock the most basic gadgets for each class like the medic bags, defibs, and ammo bags? Also, gently caress you if you tried to start piloting any vehicle in that game after like 2 months after it came out. You had to unlock everything, including loving flares for the aircraft, and the only way to do that was through piloting, thus creating a wonderfully lovely catch-22 for new players. Besides, I'd rather have like 20 guns that are meaningfully different from each other and have individual utility versus 100 guns of which 90 are ignored for being inferior versions of the better guns. Of course, whenever this happens, gamers go rabid over how they're getting shafted by EA or whatever. Basically, gamers are cancer and have no idea what goes in to making a good and fun game.

I don't understand the people getting angry at the stealth bits in the campaign. You do realize that they're entirely optional and you can just run through the level blasting fools instead right? Don't get me wrong, the single player isn't great or anything, but it seems like people just want to complain about it regardless of how it actually plays. In fact it basically validates whatever is being said, because you're not even contesting the criticism, just recommending the content be avoided. I'm not suggesting "don't ever do the stealth because it sucks," I was just saying that its optional because some people seemed to fixate on it being a huge thing that ruins the entire single-player, which seems a bit overblown. To address it directly, I really liked that there was an option for stealth. It breaks up the tension of all-out firefights and gives other, less-used weapons, like the suppressed pistols and tripwires, a chance to shine. The best part, however, is that there's no insta-fail for getting spotted, meaning that the stealth is just a tool that can be used at the player's discretion, making it a good design choice in my eyes. In the end though, it doesn't matter because the single player is insignificant and not very good compared to the main draw of the game and now I wish I could throw lures in multiplayer to gently caress with pubbies.

Seriously smdh at all you chums saying that horses suck. "A class that has a ton of health, can one hit any infantry in the game, has endless ammo with powerful grenades, and can cross maps in less than a minute? Garbage!" Try not charging the enemy lines directly like an idiot and you'll see how op they can be. I've soloed tanks with the grenades and dissolved front lines with hit n run tactics. Goons here have seen me first hand if there are any doubts. The only issue with horses is that they control like garbage which puts people off initially. Also agreed with everyone saying that pouches are the way to go. I'm getting sick of asking my squad mates to switch out of boxes so I don't have to camp in one spot and probably get killed waiting for my drat grenades. And if you can't see the benefit of being able to be healed while running to and from cover then I don't know what to say.

I never ADS as assault nor will I defile my great hipfire guns with a bayonet and anyone who does otherwise is a schmuck. Come at me goons. That being said, I do know that in BF4, ADSing with a shotgun DID decrease the pellet dispersion so you may be onto something here. The main reason I don't use a bayonet on assault guns is because they gently caress with my melee weapons and cause me to charge when I want to pickaxe someone instead. Ularg posted:Well I'm starting to get the hang of it now that I've basically made support my main. Ammo for all! Support can be a lot of fun with a good setup. First of all, don't use the ammo crate, use the pouches instead. The pouches track to a person (up to 20 meters!!!) if you throw it while aiming at them and they will refill like 66% of your total ammo pool per pouch. Crates take forever to give you anything that isn't bullets and they force you to stand in one spot, which is a deathwish in this game. Goons don't let other goons use crates. When playing support, remember that your most powerful ability is that you have endless grenades. Always throw out your grenades when you come up on some enemies and throw the ammo pouch on the ground to resupply yourself when its safe to. Every other class trumps you in their respective ranges when it comes to primary weapons so you need to play dirty to come out on top. I almost exclusively run gas grenades as support so everyone has to have their masks on to fight me. Since I also exclusively run with trench weapons (the trench prefix in this game means that they have the best hipfire), this gives me an advantage against every class except the assaults. For the guns, I really recommend the BAR trench. A few goons here will disagree saying that the BAR has too small a magazine to be useful, but I think it is easily managed by remembering to reload often when you still have a few bullets in the mag to get the quick reload. It's also the only support gun worth tapfiring just so you don't blow your load early in a firefight. Just throw your gas. put on your mask, and hipfire your way to victory.

Kibayasu posted:As accurate as the BAR is compared to the other LMG's, especially hipfire, it still has the LMG damage so you're incredibly lucky if you manage to kill more than 1 person in a magazine. I actually do far better with the Lewis Suppressive, which is actually a lot better now with the slower overheat on the Lewis types, and the MG 15 even when I'm running around on the front. It's also handy to be able to plant yourself somewhere with a bipod and instantly be as accurate as any other gun as well as shoot at planes for much longer than they might be expecting. If you're running support anyways, then all your weapons do about the same damage per bullet, but only the BAR has that insane ROF that makes it a lot less painful to deal with. I also disagree that it's difficult to kill more than 1 person per mag. That's why I roll with gas grenades and suggest tapfiring the BAR. Doing that, I don't have issues taking out 2 people and I've been lucky a few times and have taken out 3 people. At the end of the day though, it comes down to what feels best to you and the BAR was the only thing that made getting to support 10 not a slog for me.
