I don't know anything about ASCII art, but it's a traditional form of art, so it might be good to learn it. Post your WIPs (Works in Progress) or completed works, or post inspirational ASCII art (be sure to give attribution!).

I thought I should start easy, with a rectangle.

 I've been really getting into minimalist ASCII art lately. Here's one of my latest works:

Note how I've left this work is somewhat open to interpretation. Is it a circle? A snowball? A human head? a butthole? Here I challenge the viewer to come up to their own conclusions rather than coerce them into pandering to my expectations as an artist. Entire volumes of imaginative storytelling can originate from this one small prompt, so in this way I make the viewer more a participator in the creative process than a spectator.

In my use of negative space I hope the viewer will contemplate isolation, even our own isolation in the vast universe on our tiny insignificant planet, another valid though in no way superior interpretation of the symbol used in this work. In the enigmatic "code:" near the top of the canvas I hope the user will contemplate what a lame way this is to set fixed-width test on a distinct background on an internet forum.

I may post one of my other pieces as it nears completion, but it may take several days before it's ready for even a preliminary glance by outside eyes.
