X-COM 2 is fun enough but it runs into the 'fan' problem of being designed way more for the hardcore finished-the-game-20-times or Played Long War types. It's not as bad as some fan-mods where it's 100% inaccessible outside of that but it has a bit of fandom-blinders on where it's hard because it is designed with the fanbase in mind more than hard on its own merits. (Lots of nerfing of things the fans relied on and such.)

It's also why it has so many time limits, to 'break' some of the popular strategies certain streamers used.

I really, really loved XCOM2 and I wasn't too hardcore an XCOM1 fan, though I also really enjoyed it. It is geninuely quite tough though especially on the harder difficulties. I didn't find the time limits to be nearly as bad as some people did - they do force you to always be moving towards objectives and if you're doing that, you'll be fine. The final boss is properly hard as all hell which I think is a good thing.

September game list looks good. There are 2-3 there I want so combined with my backlog and Rimworld addiction, I'll be set.
