Wow, just on an Arrow-unrelated note, that's got to be a full-time job just writing up those call sheet pages, right? That's got so much info on it, it's making me sweat thinking if I was responsible for managing that.

I write up call sheets and shot lists for my projects at work and it's kinda easy. I always just go over them twice at least to make sure I didn't forget anything.

In fact I have to write another one on Monday, yay. But yeah it gives me a little anxiety. But I'm lucky because my boss is chill about mistakes.

If they're doing the Question the season's big bads need to be poverty and the fact that it's impossible to solve crime by punching criminals. An actual comics-accurate Question would be the perfect foil for Mayor Queen, and force the show to go back to at least the level of social consciousness it was at in the first season, where the bad guys were rich people who wanted to kill poor people.

Goddamnit, That loving Justice League cartoon ruined The Question and John Stewart. Who had been two of DC's best, most complex characters until they were completely changed to fit a Saturday morning cartoon and that became the only version people knew about.

Please tell more about Jon Stewart! He was one of the few black heroes I never got into. What was different in comics vs JLU and such?

He wasn't a Marine, he was an architect. That shaped how he saw the world, not just how he saw space and constructions, but how he saw relationships between people. When he was tasked with policing a patchwork world made up of different parts of other worlds, he saw keeping peace between the different races as an architectural and engineering problem, not a political one.

He was also a black man. Not just in the incidental way he was in the show, it was a huge part of how he saw himself. But it wasn't just a source of pride and strength, he had his own exaggerated mental image of what a good black man was. He had to square the fact that he had left his community, become essentially a cop, and dated exclusively alien and white women since then with that image of a good black man.

You should check out Green Lantern Mosaic, it's basically an examination of the character. Unfortunately since the JLU cartoon made him a Marine that got added to his backstory in the comics, and it's pretty common for comic writers to just fall back on that, rather than actually trying to write him as he was presented in Mosaic.

That all sounds incredibly interesting! Thank you very much for the recommendation. I gotta check that out. :)

Lmao if you think the writing for Arrow is bad after s2, wait until you get to s2 of Supergirl.

I mean, at least they had lesbians.

I hear that was the best part, yeah. I dipped out when it was clear they ditched Jimmy because white CW fans can't handle black love interests after what happened to Candice Patton.

And then I hear that they brought in Ms Martian with Sharon Leal who is GORGEOUS and instead of doing anything regarding intersectionality and giving her poo poo to do because "Feminist show!" they changed her character and tried to get her and Green Dad together. Because again, black people have date to each other, even if that person was originally supposed to be her (fake iirc?) uncle. It would even have been an opportunity to see him father someone else and maybe the girls can get jealous and they could've added more layers to all of their relationships and ugh

Oh please dont tell me she got hatemail from flyover state failures.

Though I do wish she was a better realized character. Her role in season 3 was 'The Girlfriend/Schrodinger's Fridging' which was sadly better than the second and part of the first season.

Oh boy did she ever. She was harrassed via mail, Twitter, called friend of the family by "fans", harrassed at a con at least once, photoshopped in gross ways. Pretty much everything gross you imagine from the internet they did to her. And that was just in seasons 1&2. I haven't been keeping up after that

I like how this is just stated as objective fact rather than opinion.

Hi I work in the entertainment industry. I am acquaintances with people in Van City who have worked on CW shows both on set and inside the network.

The CW caters hard to it's fanbases. That's how they make their money off Netflix and get exposure through fan driven projects like the recent Riverdale cover. They sure as hell aren't taking in the ratings.

I know a poo poo ton of CW gossip, including about the actors.

There were a lot of a big changes during the move from CBS to the CW.

Hey remember when they were in the 50s and Jackson disappeared after they explicitly warned him he might get lynched by an angry white mob, and they just kinda hung around the ship for awhile he was abducted and possibly getting slung up in a tree?

That was almost as egregious as "Use your natural athleticism!"
