"Wild Thing" by the Troggs. Yeah, everyone remembers it and it's actually pretty enjoyable for what it is, but it's just so loving lazy. There's a total of one rhyme ("Thing"/"Sing"--okay, one and a half if you count "everyTHING") and it's basically just a few riffs reworked from "Louie Louie" (which every rock band in the world was playing their version of when "Wild Thing" was recorded), and oh..they didn't write it. It's a cover of a song by a band called the Wild Ones. And it only reached #1 because two competing companies had pressed copies and both wanted their version to sell. Is there a song that even comes close to rivaling the sheer lack of effort the Troggs put into this song? This is really important you guys!
