If those rumours are true they're really not giving 6 and 6S users a big reason to upgrade. "Pretty much the same phone but you need new headphones" isn't a great sales pitch. I guess it's ultimately a good thing that a two year old phone doesn't feel like must-replace device.

I really have no reason to upgrade from my iPhone 6...unless the new phones have screens that don't explode with any little impact. I've gone through two 6's because of the fragile screen.

Since smartphones are becoming more and more iterative and no longer really breaking much new ground, it's time to just start naming them like cars and call it iPhone (2016), iPhone+ (2016), and iPhone SE (2016).

NO TENGO SCORPIO

I predict there will be magsafe-style analog audio out pins like on the edge of my old-rear end nexus 7. That would preserve the waterproofing rating and lets them sell a $39 thumbnail size 3.5 adapter, which is the essence of all things apple.

There's been rumors on and off about the 7+ having the Smart Connector from the iPad Pro. It could theoretically be used for audio out.

I'm actually pretty careful with my phones, I think I might just have bad luck. The first time, my phone fell out of my pocket when getting out of the car at the gas station, landed on its back side without a case on, and the screen shattered. The second time I had a case on, I dropped it while sitting on a weight bench, landed on the corner of the phone on a padded floor, and once again the screen shattered.

Apple used to gate software like Siri and iOS versions in newer generations, but Apple haven't done a great job of compelling new software features to tide people over. They are going to try to make Siri a killer feature - as well as their machine learning for photo processing, but I don't know how many people care.

ive used siri like twice in the last two months. the method by which you have to hold the home button down for like 3 seconds and then wait another two seconds for it to fire up siri and begin to process voice commands is too long and annoying and half the time it clips the first word or two from my question

and the only thing ive had to ask siri for is what the weather is gonna be like today, which is a very basic bitch use case. im not very type A so i dont run my life by scheduling poo poo into my calendar, so that eliminates 80% of siris usefulness

voice assistants are still really bad in tyool 2016

That's my plan basically. Apple care+ is up in 60 days so next time my wife breaks a screen I'll give her my 6+ and get a 7+. Inevitably when she breaks that one too Ill another 7+ or 7s+ depending on how long it takes. (5 iPhones in the 2 year warranty so far)

Shattering is the result of a number of drops and impacts. You just got unlucky that the "slight" drops are the ones that actually broke the iPhone's screen.

Siri doesn't like my accent so I pretty much never use it. About nine times out of ten when I try, it takes me so long telling it "no, change the reminder message" that I'd have been quicker just typing it up in the first place. Anything Siri-related is basically a non-existent feature for me.

The first one was my first drop.

The second was maybe the second or third...in a case...from a very short distance...on a padded floor. Maybe the replacement screen was installed incorrectly after the first time? I don't know.

I'm curious if they'll still stagger the iOS and macOS releases as they have in previous years. Sierra brings almost nothing interesting to the table, and the public beta has been stable for me since day one. I could see them holding back Sierra for a Mac refresh in the next month or two, but it honestly feels ready to go.

You probably get their updated Lightning reader or you continue using the equipment you already have that works fine. Or you get yourself a cheap Android with a cheap plan with a small portion of that $10-11k (if you're on any modern plan, you should be able to add a second device to it for a small monthly fee and share the data).

If history is any indication what price the 6s is likely to be by tomorrow night (or whenever the drop goes into effect)? If it's the last iPhone with a 3.5mm jack my guess is "exactly the same".

I ask because my current phone's screen is broken and the 6s is more than enough phone for me but both it and the SE are ridiculously overpriced for what I would give up.

I dropped my 6 and cracked the screen fairly recently and went with the "SE + Jailbreak LittleBrother (increased screen res) + Leather Case" combo and it's the ultimate for iPhone ownership. I have absolutely no desire to go back to any 5+" designs unless they really bring something new to the table hardware wise.

You can sync one playlist from your iTunes library, and specify how much space to use on the watch up to 2GB or 250 songs (your choice).

No on the Spotify thing. So far, at least.

It's going to take some amazing reveal to get me to upgrade this year. I'm usually one of those gadget nerds who starts wishing for a new phone a few months after getting the latest phone, but my 6+ is still going strong. I've also been interested in the Watch, and I was hoping for fitness tracking on par with the other mainstream devices like the Fitbit Blaze, but that doesn't seem to be on the cards this year according to the rumors.

The only thing Apple could really sell to me over the next year would be a 4K capable Apple TV. Everything else that "just works", still works. Apps for the most part seem to have fallen behind the hardware.
