I remember a recruiter for Westwood College calling me up despite me not giving him my phone number. My god it is a loving travesty for high schools to let these rear end in a top hat recruit on campus.

gently caress now I'm wondering how exactly all those kitchenware pyramid schemes are able to get a hold of lists of upcoming high school grads and and their addresses.

Even in capitalism, we demand services to be licensed and accredited (layers, doctors, engineers), but for profit schools get a pass somehow.

My HS let some fashion institute constantly come in and recruit and I always thought it was stupid and scammy as gently caress. One of the recruiters was friends with my 10th grade English teacher (or was pretending to be anyway) and the teacher got suuuuuper butthurt about me and 3 of my friends filling out the little contact cards with fake info (wrote Joseph Stalin's info on mine).

That teacher was dumb though because the 4 of us filled out 5 fake contact cards and she was all 'as soon as I figure out who the 5th person was I'm sending you all to the principal!!!' lol

Some guy tried to do a walk-in pitch at my college job (movie theater) some years back. Granted, pitching to a group of 20-something looking dweebs at 2:00 on a Wednesday isn't a terrible idea, but maybe rethink your approach when you're 2 blocks away from a big state university. The really sarcastic girl working the counter that day had a ball with it.

"So, uh, hey... you guys ever think about what's next? Like, you don't want to be here for 10 more years right?"

"Yeah, that's why I'm going to the UC down the street"

"Right, cool. Yeah, but have you ever considered [Online University Techical Trade Institute]"

(laughs). Like the school in the commercials? hell no (laughs)"

I wonder how liable ITT Tech is right now in terms of a class action lawsuit.

right but do you see how the things I stated are effectively lawyers doctors and engineers practicing without a license? just because they change some words around to fit through gaping loopholes?

Yes, it is what it looks like!

Get a room you two.

On the subject of a lawsuit, where would the money even come from short of suing the CEO or heads of the institute that were no doubt making mad bank while making sure the "school" looked functioning.

I get that a lot of these people aren't doing their homework (lol), but when you're destitute, in hard times or some fuckin myriad of other situations and some salesman comes by and tells you you're gonna be the latest and greatest next big thing in SECURITY, CNC MACHINING and SMALL BOAT OPERATIONS all at once, people see it as an opportunity for a come up when they're just getting scammed.

The feeling among these people is "they couldn't advertise it on tv if it wasn't true" too.
