I don't wear regular mouth guards when rolling because they make breathing hard and I don't like taking them out of my gooey mouth to talk. Are Sisu mouthguards goon approved for BJJ & are they good enough for getting punched in the face? thanks

This is pretty big news for HEMA. It was apparently well received by the audience and production staff, and it was well-represented by the fighters at the event.

id really like to enjoy HEMA and if you could get the following advice to the right people it would go a long way towards securing the wangsbig market: 'do something about the fat dorks nicking each other's hands with floppy swords and then retreating back to their corners'

How easy is it to finish an arm bar to the point where the arm is broken? I witnessed a fight on NYE between two people who had no idea how to fight and as it went to the ground one the one on the bottom was full mounted and put him arm up dead straight and it was an absolute gift of an arm bar, and it got me thinking about how easy it is to actually snap the arm. I have tapped people with arm bars and with Kimura's and stuff I can totally feel the arm give way and be snappable, but arm bars don't seem like the arm would actually snap, just do serious damage and cause a lot of pain.

Also what's the protocol for getting in a fight, would it be ok to break someone's arm, I'm not planning on but if I was the guy on top I would of seriously been tempted to do it and end the fight that way.

Do Not Fight but arms are supremely easy to snap in twain as we humans are fragile beasts

I have never put someone properly to sleep and I'd hate to do it first time in a fight and accidentally have killed them. I know it takes a long time but if I've not practiced it I don't want to try it live, that and I'm sure in a fight my brain won't be thinking all that much and I'll be going on instinct and muscle memory alone. My question was more because when you land a Kimura once your past the point of no return it's really easy to see how you could snap it and do serious damage, whereas when I have an arm bar they sit comfortably in it until I figure out where I need to be pushing and which way the wrist should be and when it goes and you get the tap there's still resistance. Obviously in training your going soft as well so I'm sure that makes a difference.

a martial art that does not prepare you to art martially against your fellow man sounds fine as long as everyone in it is explicitly aware of this. are you ever throughout your aikido training told that you're just kind of doing it for funsies and to not try and wristlock an assailant because you will be easily and brutally murdered?

Is there a general rule about smashing people if you are a bigger guy? I've had this conversation with my instructor and hes like "go at it!" if someone is around my weight (I weigh 230), but honestly I don't really pressure someone unless they are way heavier or as heavy than me. For example this morning my partner was a girl that weighed about 150 and asked very politely not to put all my weight on her when practicing this move, but honestly I kind of feeling that I'm cutting myself short if I don't. I don't want anyone to get hurt so I respect those requests (which I did with her) but in my morning classes it's usually lighter people than me that I train with (200 and under I would guess). Should they just expect that they should have to put their skills to use against a bigger person and suck it up? At least thats the way I feel about it because there are guys even bigger than me that I have rolled with, but I can also see the point of not wanting to get injured too.

I dont know, Im stuck on this one...

How can he advertise what he does as self defense anymore after doing this?

"as soon as I grabbed, I got punched" LOL

not everyone is the martial arts game for ~street self defense~ or whatever (and check yourself if you are because lol).

what's actually a concern is that the dude's conclusion is 'oh maybe aikido would work just not against a trained fighter' instead of 'aikido would never work against an aggressive assailant'
