You have the V2 PSVR right? Honestly the little earbuds that come with it are kinda great since they attach super well into the headset and even have little compartments on the headband to place them in.

Yeah it’s the V2, I think it might be either my TV being weird or the HDMI on my processor unit, either way the work around I’ve put together is pretty good.

I forgot to say, inner ear headphones are no good to me as I have some pretty bad cauliflower ear (wrestling) I’ll look into the mantis.

I have a sweatband that keeps the visor ever so slightly away from my face (and doesn't make the foam bits all sweat-soaked either) but strangely it never fogged up even before I started using a sweatband. The only time it does is when I start wearing it after doing something physically intensive and even then it goes away a few minutes in.

I can't speak to the passthrough issues though my V2 works perfectly with my old-rear end LG HDTV in terms of showing the picture on the screen while I play. As for over-the-ears headphones though, I use my normal Sony headphones occasionally while I watch movies in VR and it all works really well, I think the only thing to watch out for is how well they fit over your head while you wear the headset.

Wiping shaving foam on a mirror will stop it fogging up in a bathroom that may work on your lenses if your willing to risk it.....

My old LG tv worked fine to, this is a recent upgrade and if I’m honest it’s quite frustrating that I can’t seem to get the pass through working but at least it’s usable.

Yeah man, I imagine it would be a drag but the only problem I ever had with the PS4 not showing gameplay normally with the PSVR box attached was to turn the PSVR headset on and off and even those occurrences were super rare. :(

Re: fogging, I still use the microfibre cloth that came with the headset to wipe the lenses before and after I use it, and sometimes during if it initially fogs up after I put it on. Just lifting it up or away from your face to let some air in is enough to de-fog it though. Thinking about it now, it's weird how it never fogged up during intense hour-long sessions of Beat Saber but it just didn't. I have had to shake off sweat out of it a few times but I've always made sure to clean it when that happens.

For PSVR workout people though: get a sweatband! It'll save you a LOT of grief.

E: Sweatband, not a headband.

My favourite little monsters
Got Vacation Simulator the other day. It's fun, like Job Simulator but ramped up quite a bit. It's more like a simple adventure game now, where you go to three different settings, trying to get 'memories' by completing tasks in each of them, teleporting to areas within each of the settings to do so. So, like, you go to the beach, solve sandcastle puzzles, find butterflies for someone, put coolant on an overheating CPU, solve a pirate treasure puzzle, etc. It's charming, and not just 'Job Simulator, but this time with a Vacation theme' like I thought it was.

Stare-Out
Mar 11, 2010

That's good to know. I love Job Simulator but was worried that Vacation Simulator would be a "same, but more" kinda deal so I passed on it. Gonna wait for a sale and pick it up for sure.

If you like those games, and Rick and Morty, get the R&M game, it's beyond awesome if you're a fan. I got the disk, but played it so much, also downloaded the digital one for ease of switching when it was on sale for $18.

They seem like fine games but I can't stand Rick and Morty so from what I've seen, being into that kind of humor is absolutely necessary for enjoying them.

I was never into R&M but Accounting Plus was so funny I ended up watching the whole thing. My whole take on the humor is that it's extremely funny in small doses, but it's also kind of a one trick pony so it gets really grating if I try and stick with it for too long in one sitting. I like it one episode or 1 level at a time if it's a game. The humor is super dumb, but sometimes I'm just dying laughing.

I also appreciate how much Justin Roiland loves VR.

This might be the future of PSVR controllers- it's from a paper Sony just released about their in-house finger tracking experiments.

Stare-Out

Seems like a safe bet that they'll do something like that for PSVR2, there's also a lot of talk about the eye tracking stuff that's basically performance capture which could have some interesting applications. The stuff I'm curious about is haptic feedback though I don't know how they'd apply it into controllers like those, would be cool to have some resistance when grabbing something in VR.

Is it any good, for a non-Star Wars person? I've heard some good things but haven't checked out any footage or anything but I do like the thought of a well-implemented lightsaber in VR because of Beat Saber, with the Moves it feels way more real and natural than an actual sword that should have weight and stuff when you swing it.

The story mode is pretty rubbish, but the lightsaber dojo is great. A lot of it is spinning around on the spot, so I dunno how well it'll work with the PSVR cables.

edit: also been spending a lot of time hanging out on a VR beach, beaming my phone into it and browsing the forums/twitter. Get a fan on, a UV lamp and a cocktail with a long straw and the experience is complete. V good for lockdown blues.

I don't really care about the story as long as the gameplay's worth it and a lightsaber dojo sounds cool!

Does it tie into the TV series much, or is it a standalone zombie smashing experience type thing?

It's based on the comics series but is entirely standalone and has no real connections to anything else other than the basic zombie ruleset of the franchise.

There's not only zombies, but human NPCs, dialogue choices that cause divergent outcomes and a fairly reactive game world, at least in comparison to just about any other made for VR game. The zombie smashing feels quite good though, weapons are physically modeled so they give the impression of weight. Firearms are a bit awkward, but melee feels very satisfying once you get used to it, the stabbing is very visceral in particular.

I spent way more time just driving and walking around the city checking out the sights and tipping my hat to every passerby than I did in actual cases. Mostly because there are only like 5 cases in the game, but still, the atmosphere is still there and exploration can be fun since there are a few locations in the game world related to other non-VR cases that are pretty neat. There's no free roam option as such but picking the last case and just not going to where you're supposed to works just as well, plus you get a car that has a radio so you can listen to some 40's tunes while you cruise.

E: Also I managed to throw a random object at my partner which made him faceplant quite wonderfully.
