Snow behaves differently when it sticks around for a week and melts and freezes in layers and everything, than in normal Texas snowstorms where it lasts a day or two and then melts away completely.

I feel like I've seen this 'controversy' before and read an article about it that said something to the effect of 'the water that melts sinks into the still frozen snow/ice and re-freeezs more compactly, and the black stuff is just lighter soot/particulate in the snow that got burned'.

lmao I moved from Chicago to Portland recently and we got hit with an ice storm blizzard thing that had unique properties compared to the countless Chicago snows I’ve been through. I live in Massachusetts and I've seen snowpiles that have lasted till late April/early May depending on how bad the winter was. poo poo's like concrete. It doesn't even melt in the hot sun. It is mind-boggling to me that their brains leap to the first available conspiracy theory.

My thoughts are evolving on this, in part, because of comments made elsewhere on this board. It may be that only certain state-funded universities should be allowed to play the national anthem at sporting events. To qualify for the honor, university administrators, professors, and students would have to earn the privilege based on objective Make America Great Again criteria. Universities that don't earn the honor will be referred to by legislative budget committees as “tier-two schools.” Funding for “tier-two schools” - when available - should come from the state's unneeded surplus reserves.
