I've always liked the concept of a libertarian paradise island, but I think reality has shown that such groundbreaking endeavors have always been crushed by the establishment. Even if the island (or man made platform in some cases) is completely self sufficient you'll still see powerful governments trying to sabotage it. Peter Thiel and like minded allies should for now focus on reducing the powers of the current governments. A truly Libertarian nation is the obvious end goal, but to get there we need to start by reducing the influence of the world powers.
