I'm drawing 31 witches this month, following some prompt list created by someone else.

The first prompt is to draw a seasonal witch, this New Mexican witch is preparing for Autumn by hanging up some chile ristras to dry.

Is that a witch or just a crazy hobo? Is there really any difference? That thought process made me think of downtown 81, the Jean-michelle Basquiat movie. A real gem if ya never seen it.

... Anyway. Really like this character, the rendering is really on point, super dig your lighting.

Edit: haven't really drawn anything in like a month. Depression and being all mopey sucks. Gotta figure some way outta the rut. Forgot it was inktober until today, so maybe that'll help push me outta my funk.

Is it kosher to post in this thread if we're not an amazing artist? I've been trying to get back into art latelyand have done some work but its pretty crummy compared to the stuff I see you guys post :shobon:

Art is hard.

As long as you're enjoying yourself, skill doesn't matter. Go nuts.

I let myself go out of practise before doing inktober and I'm not prepared to draw and ink this fast. AAAAAH!

Also, my pens are running out and this is the worst possible time for that to happen.

Okay then. This is the first original thing I've drawn in...well I dunno how long, and actually finished. Its supposed to be a kind of light monster that I based on a tube worm.

Aside from obvious problems with perspective I don't like how the bleeding blotches of green worked out. I wanted to create a sort of watery paint effect where they bleed through the outlines at parts but it didn't work out. I'm just glad to finally finish something I thought up on my own though.

Inktober orc lady done today. I got paint tool SAI so now the lines have less wobble in 'cause I'm using the smoothinator, but I often get a long super thin line that shoots off into whatever direction when I lift the pen, anyone know what to do about that?

This one I did yesterday but it fits in with spoopy month

This witch is great but reminds me acutely of a Neil Gaiman character.

Forgive the dumb question, but what exactly is Inktober? A challenge people take to draw a sketch every day during October?

http://www.inktober.com. It says ink but I've seen digital drawings too, basically it's just about pushing yourself to draw more and improve (see also: drawlloween). Also you can tag your tweets/tumbls/instagrams with #inktober and #drawlloween and get some more views if that's important to you.

Already got answered, but yeah all of mine is digital for instance because I still consider it "inking" if I'm using the same techniques :colbert:

I love doing inking I get so exited for hatching and drawing a perfect line is so satisfying.

Thanks man. I have an art tumblr over here : http://drawsomething.tumblr.com/ which looks dead, but thats only because the last two years have been trying to kill me. It is actually the best place to see my art though.

I also don't know how to use twitter but have been quietly trying to figure it out, so if twitter is more your style instead of tumblr: https://twitter.com/UnicornTracks
