Speaking of, Jormungandr is pretty fun, if a bit one-note. Basically her deal is that she's got an unblockable kidney punch that she can do as a mixup in combos, from neutral, or after a guardbreak. If it hits, it causes light stagger and significant stamina damage, and will prone enemies that are out of stamina. Once that happens, she's got a special hammer slam available against prone enemies that does pretty ludicrous damage. Apart from that she's got a bunch of modifiers on her regular attacks, such as uninterruptible heavy openers, unblockable heavy finishers, and undodgeable light finishers. So the general gameplan is to put constant pressure on your opponent with your mixups and fishing for that knockdown, which is a near-guaranteed win if it happens. In a way she's a bit like Centurion, except not quite as aggravating to be on the receiving end of. At least so far .

What character would be a nice first pick if I like trickster style characters?

Nalesh posted:What character would be a nice first pick if I like trickster style characters? Tiandi is pretty solid, he’s pretty balanced overall and can be played very slippery/tricky with all his recovery cancels. Really most characters can be played tricky, in terms of mind games, so just pick whoever seems cool. Captain Beans fucked around with this message at 19:11 on Aug 20, 2019 |

Ubisoft is giving standard edition away again this time on their website. The biggest problem I had with the game was waiting to find a match so might as well try to pump those player numbers up and hope they buy expansions.

Honestly I like this game a ton but the fact they gate game modes behind seasonal activity is wild af. Let me just play carnival of death or whatever that sick game mode from last year was called.

FYI you can try anyone in the tutorial or w/e I think so you don’t have to buy them to try? Prob common knowledge but hey

Nalesh posted:What character would be a nice first pick if I like trickster style characters? If you just own the base game: Peacekeeper: She's very slippery, and can grab the opponent to stab them in the kidneys three times to deal bleed damage over time If you own the year 1 heroes: Shaman: Like peacekeeper she's slippery and can cause bleeds, but if her target is bleeding she can pounce on them and eat them to restore some health If you own the Wu Lin (year 2?) heroes: Shaolin: Very quick and has a Qi stance that allows for a ton of different attacks. Plus he's based on Sun Wukong and you can't get more tricky than that So with the release of Jormungandr it feels like heroes need way more stamina because I am getting kinda tired of having to play really defensively against them because using feints and what not to try and open them up leave me way too low on stamina to avoid getting knocked to the ground with one punch.

in general attacking feels like it eats up way too much stamina.

agreed, but it really becomes apparent fighting someone who giggles in delight when they see an empty stamina bar. every hero needs like twice the stamina they currently have so I'm not stuck trying to bait out attacks lest I find myself quickly on the floor

I hope that Ubisoft buffs Breach sometime because it's easily the coolest team-based mode and I'm tired of Dominion.

This games excellent characters, movement, combat and animations make me long for better game modes and a more robust PvE offerings. But it's really not that game. But my left arm for a proper Dynasty warriors game mode with coop. Just a huge map filled with mooks and actual characters.

For Honor as 1v1 is a wholly unique and fairly technical fighting game but unfortunately I think it’s the total clusterfuck modes that generate any interest.

That's because Dominion is the most fun and easiest game mode to just drop into 1v1 requires effort, no one plays tribute and Breach is just incredibly frustrating half the time because your team is a bunch of poo. At least in dominion the fights are over quick and you get some action pretty quickly

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the reasons Dominion is so popular is because the time/reward ratio is the best. Duels are fast but barely give you anything, and Breach gives you more than Dominion but takes longer.

It's really depressing to see how many loving Nazis there are in the For Honor community, although I guess it isn't a surprise considering their constant attempts to corrupt the Knight as a symbol

In 4v4 you can be a fairly mediocre player and still contribute massively. For example, i am poo poo and can barely parry anything but I almost always win in 4v4's because I know how to gank and when to "push button"

I well and truly hate revenge. It grinds the gameplay to a halt to come across someone who turtles and just waits to get revenge Imagine if other team vs team games had a mechanic that gave a super shield and super damage to anyone who was attacked by more than 1 guy

The tools should be a better guard targeting system. If you are 2vs1 you SHOULD be in trouble, like in every other game ever. But if you're really good at parrying in this game you can farm for revenge and turn ganks around. Which would be a cool idea except turtling is SO BORING and bad for the game

You sound like the kind of guy I pancake flip off a ledge. Use all the tools at your disposal! You can't parry a Warlord charge and if you're in the same zip code as a teensy drop then sure turtle up but as soon as you pop revenge you're going for a ride. What if you're not near a ledge, my wise friend asks? Well, enjoy not moving or interacting with the game while everyone else has fun without you. Warrior barbie best barbie. Aww, heck, you can't counterparry a Lawbro halberd charge parry follow, so try baiting out an attack while you pick your locations. If he ain't controlling the flow and pace of the fight you get to decide which ledge his back's to. There's so much more to this game than smack-with-a-stick come on man.

I don't see why you SHOULD be in trouble in a 2v1. The whole point of the game is that you're super amazing awesome medieval superheroes. Fights in movies where one guy fends off multiple dudes at once and beats them all are cool. So they made a game about it.
