We got some serious shit to discuss.

I doubt it'd be a Marston prequel, if only because the actor who played him since left Hollywood and works construction in the Midwest, and it'd feel weird to recast such a drat iconic voice.

Red Dead Redemption was the best game of the PS3/360 Era hands down. I'm super excited for the sequel. I hope they go further back in time since RDR was all about the turn of the century and the end of the West.

Polygon actually tracked the guy down and made a short documentary about it. Long story short, he didn't like Hollywood at all and moved back home to raise a family and be happy.

Although it would be super ironic for him to get pulled back into the life he tried to get away from when his past catches up to him, all things considered.

I'm very curious about the multiplayer though I suppose they won't be talking about it for a while.

GTA Online was such a profound clusterfuck on so many levels that I really wonder what lessons they took away from it.

They made so much money from it that they never bothered to make single player add-on content so it wouldn't surprise me if they've gotten complacent and learned nothing.

I really, really wish GTAV got a proper expansion. The game just felt built for modular content, with the character switching system.

I would definitely expect to see the shark cards and general progression brought over, though I imagine relative to cash in a modern day setting there are limits to hawking increasingly blinged out cowboy tat (prove me wrong guys!)

I was mostly thinking about everything else that was broken or mis-designed about GTA online even excluding the business model, but it's still a list so daunting that it's hard to even know where to begin

Guy on the far left is John. Guy next to the middle dude is definitely Bill Williamson.

I'm gonna assume the middle guy is the new character you play as in a prequel where you're a part of Dutch's gang.

Which, if true, means we're gonna see all the hosed up poo poo John did back when he was a dirty outlaw.

I'm kinda hoping that this is the first Rockstar game where you play as a cop/US marshal/sheriff/lawman.

EDIT: I also hope nobody from RDR 1 makes an appearance beyond a cameo. Seriously, there are so many interesting stories you can tell in an open-world Western game that have nothing to do with John and the gang.

Rockstar's become pretty good about PC ports since Max Payne 3. Considering the PC market is profitable again (partly due to excellent DRM that's both difficult to crack and effectively invisible to the user), expecting a PC port a year after the console release isn't unreasonable. The first time I saw footage from the game and heard his voice I thought it was supposed to be a prequel with a really young Sam Fisher operating during the Cold War or something. There are parts on the plane where he's talking with his daughter on the phone and she sounds older than he does.

What the hell is wrong with some of you? There is nothing wrong with asking for better representation with games. I mean GTA V was pretty abysmal when it came to women. I just want more games where you don't have to play as white dudes. And considering the time period, it would be perfectly reasonable to play as an African American or Mexican person considering that a significant amount of those groups were cowboys.

But I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I'd be down with this. New guy we've never heard of with a brand new story who rolls with Marston & friends for a little bit before going off to do other stuff. Be interesting if they have multiple protagonists you can control that enter and leave the story as they get introduced or killed.

To be fair, GTA has never tried to take anything ever seriously, apart from IV I guess.

With that being said, Red Dead Redemption featured some pretty good female characters IIRC, so it's kinda surprising one isn't a lead this time.

Off the top of my head there's Annie Oakley but she was more of trick shooter/performer.

The idea of a rancher's only daughter being raised as a cowboy is common enough in the old westerns that I'm sure the idea had to spring from somewhere though.
