Okay goons, I'm trying to remember the name of a webcomic that I used to read. Its a single panel webcomic updated pretty frequently (I think daily or at least 3 days/week), might still be running. No running characters or anything, just drawings of dumpy people with hand-written text on the image. Jokes were usually anti-humor and quasi-depressing. Art was poor, like "probably done on MS Paint" poor or "step below SMBC" poor, but not crap stick figures like Cyanide & Happiness or Pictures For Sad Children.

It sounds vaguely like Pentasmal. I can't find that now at all, but I remember its spiritual successor, Men In Hats, being pretty good.

Like, a through 12-year rose-tinted spectacles kind of good.

It's still bad, but because you're expecting the usual goblins garbage art it looks good in comparison. Put it next to something by someone who can draw and you'll go with the traditional wizard-fighting-a-dragon motif for your 80's dream machine.

The top frame could potentially be a good stylistic way to demonstrate that holy poo poo, these things coming out of the gate are an unholy blight against nature if it weren't for the fact that the rest of the comic is equally ugly, if not more so.

Like, if someone were drawing a webcomic about the Cthulhu Mythos they could just have Thunt draw every panel that's a POV as the protagonist looks at an eldritch abomination and then go back to their regular style again after.

So, it's not actually that bad. Homophobia and suicide are two big serious topics and it feels a little disrespectful to see suicide illustrated in Thorsby's style, but he doesn't go bigot or anything -- just tries to argue that there can be an evolutionary drive towards homosexuality and suicide, even though it seems like there wouldn't be.

My main problem with it is that focusing on evolutionary drives to things like that is a big red herring: we aren't defined by our evolution any more, and although he acknowledges that, spending so much time focusing on evolutionary reasons for a thing still gives ground to the mindset that everything inhuman behaviour is down to :biotruths:.
