It’s the comic “Massively Multiplayer & Online” which is a 2000’s era comic about two dysfunctional friends who play Everquest, Dark Age of Camelot, etc. and shows what MMO players be like. It was never funny unless you played the games, and then was only somewhat chuckle worthy. It also usually requires a huge write up explaining the joke, and was later revealed to just be the two creator’s fantasized versions of themselves.
Thank you.

I could show you around 200 early 2000s webcomics that would not only look and read exactly like the one linked, but good odds at least one will be called Massively Multiplayer and Online.

Way back when QC was fairly new, just a couple years old, it got a bunch of attention for revealing that character's father had killed himself, and that's one of the reasons she had trouble forming relationships. In a better comic that had done more character work and earned it it would have been a good moment, and the fans liked it well enough and it was handled better than Loss or some poo poo. QC also regularly ran guest comics. That one was by the author of Dr. McNinja. Fans didn't appreciate it so much. It stayed up for a surprisingly long time.

Was is just a fever dream or did Dr. McNinja have a guest comic where time travellers killed Hitler and then giant hasidic jewish people destroyed the world? I seem to recall both Hastings and the guest artist being suprised that it would be considered anti-Semitic and had to be convinced to take it down.
This was real. It was supposed to be an absurdist joke about the idea that Hitler thought he was somehow saving Germany and the world from Jewish people, and it might have worked if anti-Semitism wasn't a real and persistent problem.

I don't really remember but yeah either way it's probably not what the comic meant for "First multiplayer"

I'd argue it's the first one to really make MP a thing. Kind of how Doom wasn't the first FPS but it's inarguably the grandfather of the genre, Quake wasn't the first online MP game but it made online MP what it is today
Quake's more important for its control innovations, since IIRC it's more-or-less responsible for changing things from DOOM-style keyboard to KB+M. But that would have happened inevitably anyway.

I mean, I hate to go to bat for this guy but the underlying message of "bullying ruins childrens' lives and gives them scars that might not ever go away, and it's kinda hosed up ten years later to pretend that you were actually friends and you didn't make someone's life a misery for your own amusement" is a correct and important one.

I just really, really wish he wasn't delivering it like a self-righteous rear end in a top hat.
The part that makes it sad, truly sad, is that he likely drew the comic because it never happened in real life. Not the bullying part, I believe that, but the friend request part. It's a fantasy about pushing back against your tormentors, and the fantasy itself is incredibly banal. I think that makes it relatable but also hard to read because there is no self-awareness there. He doesn't get the small tragedy of the situation.
