Akh Regiment, Sesostris Company. The Fist of the Cyclops. Once among the finest forces not only among the Spireguard, but in the entirety of the Imperium. Now what was it? A herd of shambling mutants mostly, though it's status as one of the greatest siege-breaking forces in existence was unchanged. The tzanngor that make up a near majority of it's forces were surprisingly adept at close quarters combat. The brutality of the Sesostris was matched only by it's Captain, the sorceress Wadjet: No mere spellcaster, Wadjet was at the forefront of every charge, crushing all before her with a mighty thunderhammer. Though lacking the mutations so common of her bestial company, she's earned the affectionate nickname/title of Wargor among the beastmen. Less favored is the Akh Regimental Commander, Karen. An effeminate and bookish schemer, Karen rarely if ever left the regiment's transport or his precious charts and graphs, preferring to lead from over the comms. The weakling. But it was precisely this tendency that might save your bacon tonight. While most of the Spireguard transports were with the fleet, Karen keeping his grounded as a makeshift base meant that you had a fighting chance to not be left on this miserable frozen rock to be slaughtered. Hurrah for lazy generals! Captain Wadjet lost no time in rounding up the warherd and calling an immediate retreat back to the ship. Unfortunately a Thousand Sons sorcerer, and his cadre of rubrik marines, is making his way there as well. There's little to no chance that Karen will wait for you expendable fuckers if the astartes make it there first. To make matters worse, a Space Wolf drop pod landed in the direction of the ship, and behind you the sound of howling has grown increasingly loud. Likely the horde of Kaerls that had been making potshots at you during your leisure time. Even the more athletic among your number are beginning to feel the burn in your lungs when a loud crack rings out and the a young gorling falls. Screaming in frustration the Captain seizes hold of her adjunct and bellows in his goaty face: "Get these laggards to the damned ship or I'll have your hide!" before tossing him aside. Wadjet means to make a last stand to buy the regiment time! One or two of the most suicidal gors have stopped to join her as well, but not near enough to defeat the force coming over the hill. As the rest of the regiment marches off towards the ship, Wadjet and her motely crew of Tzaangor and- "Oh Tzeentch damnit, the skeleton guy is broken again!" Indeed, the "skeleton guy" isn't moving, simply staring ahead mouth agape, as though silently screaming in horror at his own pointless existence. Wadjet taps him gently with her hammer's haft. He sways a bit, but remains standing still. "Can't leave him for the wolves. Strap him to the tank I guess?" A couple of tzanngor chain him to the front of Mila's tank before marching off. As the army leaves, the first of the pursuing kaerls comes over the hills: Swiftly by two more wolf riding warriors: Yet more kaerls, none of them riding wolves thankfully, crest the hill. Despite the cold they all seemed to be half-dressed in furs, and maybe one in three carry a gun. What the hell was wrong with the Space Wolves that they couldn't be bothered to give their soldiers proper weapons and armor? With a fearsome warcry, the lead wolfrider charges forward chaingun blazing. Her warband follows suit, whooping and hollering like idiots. The situation as it stands, two npc tzanngors are with you guys and Wadjet, they'll follow Khrannahk's lead. Army-Crew You all keep marching with the army for some time, behind you you can hear screaming, the sound of gunshots, and other poo poo to be decided. After another kilometer or so, you come across a sight that fills you with dread. Two drop pods, one much larger than the other. No sign of what was in them. In the distance you can see the troop transport. The direct rout takes you through an icy ravine, with sheer glacial walls. Wadjet's surrogate seems to be determined to go through it. As the tank rumbles to a stop and the soldiers begin to maneuver into battle, the skeleton strapped to the front of the vehicle begins to convulse and rattle, two small embers smoldering in its empty eye sockets. Its hands spasm and clench as it begins to strain against the leather straps holding it onto the vehicle, its feet making a staccato rhythm against the hull as life rages through its decrepit body. Its jaw clacks open and shut and then hangs open in an otherworldly cry of frustration, the embers in its eye sockets erupting into spheres of fire that trails upwards and outwards from its skull. It lunges forward with all of its might, the leather straps creaking and snapping as it stumbles forward from where it's been displayed, hunched forward as its back and shoulders heave with labored breath. The massive skeleton throws it head back and screams out into the sky, its fists clenched at its sides, before turning its furious gaze on the enemies before it. It heeds no commands or calls and simply begins to charge across the no man's land towards its foe, flame beginning to surge around its bones and pulsating with the beat of the shriveled heart hanging in its chest.
