My guess is that this home is in a formerly-unincorporated area, and was annexed by the city specifically to gently caress those homeowners. Still fighting that poo poo, myself. Check for any clauses in your purchase for unknown/unforseen issues. If you signed a blanket waiver, though, you are probably outright hosed.

Daily driving a 15 year old $2,000 Eurocar is starting to get annoying. >KEY ON< Yes, I know you think the back bulbs are dead because the ground isn't as resistant as you expect after I fixed that lovely ground. >CLEAR< Yes, I know you think the front passenger blinker bulb is out due to the fact that it's a Thursday. I tried cleaning you, and replacing it, but you are still being bratty. Time to check for another lovely ground! >CLEAR< Yes, I know the third brake light is unhappy- I noticed that when I pulled into the driveway and there was the ebbing glow of ascension behind me, with no red filter whatsoever. >CLEAR< >START<

I think ground is more likely because it was only fairly recently that it started doing it every time. That said, this is the car where the PO "fixed" the burned out headlight by duct taping the lamp to the inside of the plastic cover since the retaining clip was missing. Pull all bulbs. Clean holders like hell, scrubbing until you can see the metal. Replace with new PROPER bulbs (P21 probably). If persists, what I like to do is run a 16ga run of 10' wire with two alligator clips. One goes on the metal taillight socket, and the other onto a bit of the H which isn't covered in oil, grease, and tears. If it goes away, bad ground found!

Grapeshot posted:Put a SSD in your laptop and it'll feel like a new computer and the updates won't take two hours anymore. Pretty much spot on. I'm daily driving an HP Elitebook which is nearly a decade old. It can be abysmal to live with, but I ended up with a 60GB SSD, which has made it more useful than using a newer tablet. The space sucks, but it can actually run Win 10 half decently (due to the fact it is maxed out in RAM AND SSD - if you have a 2GB system, an SSD is still going to suck more than it has to). -- Got Randy's car done and him home. I kept the cracked radiator, since it failed in a way that it leaked out into a space normally reserved for the transcooler, but lacking the internals and inlets. The plastic near the top left (where the upper inlet would be) is cracked open about 1 to 1.5". If I get bored enough before dump haul day, I'll cut it open and post pictures of it's failure. Model PDT750SSF1SS, parts diagrams here: https://www.geapplianceparts.com/store/parts/assembly/PDT750SSF1SS Yeah- we're nearly in the same boat. I have a similar unit, and I went looking for a heater when it was underperforming initially, and yes, mine also has the "added heat" functionality- but I'll be damned if I could find anywhere on the unit that made sense for the location of the heating element- without, you know, actually pulling it apart. I've tried crusty old appliance forums, Sears Direct, etc.. and calling GE only got me a new 800 number for scheduling a repair- no attempt at assistance whatsoever (shocking, I know). My dead neighbor's house is left wide open after her kids came and took what they wanted. I guess I can check it out after the tweakers strip the copper from the walls (McDonalds CookieCutter Housing, LTD).
