Return the couch. Buy one that looks like that but doesn't suck. Im sure there's plenty of beige midmod sectionals out there. Hand sewing anything that long isn't going to be straight, will look like dogshit and take forever. Machine sewing would be the way to go but it would be a big pain in the rear end too and a regular sewing machine might not be robust enough for the material + velcro.
