My secret wish is that the fuckbay would cease to exist so I wouldn't have to be embarrassed about being lumped in with people who legitimately look forward to bad CGI sex scenes with alien genitals.

They should do an LA Noire sort of thing since being a space detective in ME3 was one of my favourite things to do in the entire galaxy. Their facial rendering could use some work to make it happen, but they could make it more clue based. Set it anywhere/time interesting and I'm in.

Does femRyder look way too young to be on this mission or is it just me

I mean, loyal fans of the series who played ME1 are all olds now, are they trying to appeal to the kids or something?

Lol what have they done

It looks like they spent a lot of time making character motion and movement more fluid, and then ruined everybody's faces by making them giant babby heads on childlike bodies. They could have made the equivalent of a huge ME3 DLC and I would have preordered in a heartbeat. Instead they gave us Peebee and the insufferable Ryder twins.

Maybe I'll do a renegade playthrough and see how many of my awful squadmates I can get murdered

Re: SJW stuff: I mean I guess you can say that all the trans and gay peeps are too numerous for a random sample of people but if you care so much about things matching reality then you probably shouldn't be playing a game where you share a ship with Catmen and lizard scientists.

Played for about 4 hours last night and have a few impressions.

Movement and combat are super fluid compared to the old series. They've done a good job of making movement feel a lot more free, specifically the context-dependant use of cover. Maybe some people don't like this but I do.

The ship is cool and gives a better sense of scale than the Normandy. You really feel like you're in a big rear end interstellar spaceship with giant ceilings rather than a series of rooms. I still miss the layout of the Normandy though.

Writing is terrible. I hate my own character, which is pretty bad thing for an RPG. Everyone's face looks a lot more cartoony this time around, I'm not sure what it is. The dialogue writing seems like it was done by 19 year old interns and the story boarding is ham fisted. You're kind of just dumped into environments with people you don't care about yet without much explanation.
I'm also not a fan of the open world feel - too many repeating elements in the environments made the first planet feel dull and procedurally generated (even though it's probably not).

I'm still going to like and play this game but the flaws are pretty obvious. I'm not surprised it got the lukewarm ratings that it did.

I honestly don't know how developers think algorithm based facial animation cuts it these days. LA Noire completely spoiled me, now everything that's not motion captured or painstakingly animated by hand looks like dogshit.

I have Eos viability up to 80% but keep getting fried by radiation if I try to explore too far. Should I just go to the second planet before 100% here?

Also there seems to be a remnant thing on top of the cave near Prodromos but I can't get to it. Is it reachable before I de-radiate everything?

Anyone else think they ruined the beginning of the game by launching you right at enemies and aliens? Nobody seems particularly surprised to see you, even though you're the first human they've encountered. I definitely think a prologue before they left and some atmospheric wandering would have done a lot to set the tone. Instead it's kind of a happy go lucky jaunt to another galaxy and the people there seem like they've been expecting you. Definitely a different tone than the original series.

Every character is boring except Grampa Drack and Reyes.

ALSO they still haven't fixed the "upgrade the Nomad's shield regenerators" bug or the "go see Addison and her Russian guy" quest yet.

Also also I played the contagion quest and loved it even though it involved running around a bunch of places.

I was having trouble with the "go see Addison and her assistant" one, too. If we're talking about the one to re-deploy the person for EOS, you have to ask the assistant about getting someone out of storage, the bottom right option. It was grayed out for me but it still worked.

What's wrong with the Addison and Russian Guy quest? I assume you mean the one to pull a colonist back out of cryo after they went back in because the original Eos colonies failed? If so, I had the devil of a time with that, until I realized you have to talk to Russian guy, go into a grey 'already talked about this' conversation to find the option to ask for her to be thawed. but there may be another bug I just didn't happen to hit?
